I laughed at your comment, "It's ghetto, but it works." The free-hand technique to drill pocket screws was a nice touch. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint and a little "ghetto" can do. Great tutorial!
Love it- It's not the same when someone smears paint all over a piece of furniture. You have vision and artistry. When you showed the piece I had no idea what you were talking about but you did it and it looks great. Thanks Crys!
LOVE your new hair color! It’s a gorgeous color that blends with your skin tone. I really enjoy watching you take vanilla like furniture and making them works of art. 😀
hahahah yess they are my favorite I mean hello cat riding t-rex on a spaceship with pizza ice cream and a rainbow...yes please which leads to my next shirt, because well I am a weirdo lol 😆 😂 Thank you so much Sarah!
🌺My Crys’Dawna, Wow, what a change, it is Beautiful and I love the drawer handles so much!!! You did an Amazing Job!!! The Oak and the Light Blue is Perfect Together!!! 💖All My Love My Friend, Marley
This came out very beautiful. It's great to know I'm not the only one that changes her mind when materials don't look right, or feel right. Again I love these handles, being able to paint this hardware opens a whole new world for me.
I really liked the drawer hardware you made. Very clever idea! You could do the same thing with clear plastic dowels as well for a different look as well. You'd just have to sand it and polish it after you put on the copper pieces. Well done!
CrysDawna my darling! I love this piece so much! You were speaking to me on this one when you explained the pitfalls of repurposing furniture. Essentially thats what I’ve been doing for a year now and all I do is rethink and reconnoiter. The struggle is truly real, yet I never get too discouraged because I figure I learned something from it. I also just figured out that trick with cutting the mitre after cutting long and s resign it up anyway. The project are finally nearing completing and ready to be painted. What? Yes still haven’t started painting . winding down and just in the nick of time you made these genius drawer pulls! Omg I’m making four enormous drawers to store fabric on a my cutting table formerly known as a clothing display table from Nordstrom Rack. The drawer fronts are a solid wood bi fold door I scavenged on the side if the road. They doors hence the drawers are super heavy so I thought I needed long metal pulls. Those cost a ton, even on Amazon. I absolutely love the pale blue and light wood together btw.I haven’t picked a paint color yet and that could work. No matter what I’ll definitely give you full credit when people are amazed by how cool my drawer pulls are. Getting the supplies tomorrow. Thanks so much.
This is AMAZING! I get such an updated beach vibe from this piece! You cracked me up...you call it "ghetto" I call it adapting, ok I also call it what it is but hey gotta do whatchya gotta do and it works!!! LOL Great tutorial FANTASTIC TEACHER AS ALWAYS!
It's kinda funky! I love it and living in a small town with few options everyone has the same few pieces of furniture this would be a standout piece. Also, if it keeps it out if the landfill I'm totally down with that!!! You are so talented!
I absolutely love how you’ve added all the grunt work into your new videos. It’s not all about pretty paint when it comes to furniture makeovers and to top it off You are such a great teacher!
Hello from South Ayrshire Scotland been in the hospital for a while so I am binge watching you mow. Well I don't know what to say about this piece it's beautiful how did you come up with the light blue colour it's perfect of course that's why we watch you love from South Ayrshire Scotland and your #1 fan xxx
I love this piece!! The color is amazing and those dowel drawer pulls are so ingenious and unique~ I want to be like you when I grow up lol....I'm really loving these in depth videos they are so helpful ❤️
I love what you do with furniture! Why would anybody make a snide remark about your makeshift Craig jig-- Its not ghetto-- think it's pretty ingenious. Ya gotta do whatcha gotta do to get the job done!
Hi You're my wood working hero. Who taught you how to use all those power tools? I was wondering if you ever used linseed oil on your wood top after you stripped and cleaned it? My bf talked me into trying it and it turned out so beautiful. It's seems well protected too.
Hello, my father linseed his garden furniture but I feel it leaves a grease residue, and he does it yearly, will be interesting to know how you found it that way! X
I loved this video!! It was explained so clearly. Even I, with no woodworking experience, want to make this base. Thank you so much. One question, how did you get the Surf Prep sander to Europe? I've been trying for a couple of years to get one, but Surf Prep said they didn't have one yet to fit the electrical system in Europe ( I live in The Netherlands). I finally bought a Festool, but it is quite heavy for me. Love to know how you got the Surf Prep here.
I had to hand carry it back from the US with me lol I use a transformer. I really do hope they make them for 220 soon it is an amazing sander. Also thank you so much for your kind words it means so much :)
Hi Crys’Dawna! I just started following you about a week ago and absolutely adore your designs (and you)! I’m hooked! I’m trying to learn from you, but I would love to purchase some of your pieces. Where can I find them? Thanks very much!
Hi Cynthia!! So right now I live in Germany we are a military family, I will be back in the States next summer and I will be putting all of my pieces up on my website and shipping when I get back and settled :) Thank you for your kind words also :)
PS> since it has the two tone watered finish is very hard to match it again...so if I mess it up it will be a disaster because the top is veneer and it can not be sanded again without ruining the top..thanks
This is so completely different from your usual style that I love, but I like it!! Also I gotta ask if the music at the end of the video is your husband? If so, tell him that I enjoyed it.
I absolutely love it. Love the colour and the new handles. I always love how much you cover in your videos. You're such a great teacher Crys Dawna. Thank you for sharing. Big hugs from Ireland.
I loved every minute of this one. And the final result is breathtaking, as expected. :) And I couldn't help but giggle because my husband will just up and leave me in the middle of something to go play guitar too.
I LOVE the new extreme transformation videos!! This is exactly what I've been needing, you're an awesome instructor and I'm almost positive I heard you mention reupholstering as well?!? I"ll be waiting patiently!! ;) THANK YOU:)
I love the color combo! Did you put a clearcoat on all the unfinished wood? If so, what did you use? Again, I think you need to offer seminars because you’re a great teacher!
I will, so I wanted to totally wait because there was some oil coming through and I want to take some thinner to it, I may address that in another video :) I actually did travel back to the US before cover and taught in places, I would love to do it again when I move back :)
Amazing transformation! I love the light blue paired with the natural oak. Btw. There's no such thing as a ghetto fix. It's just an intelligent mind that can figure out how to get it done when you lack the resources to do so. Wouldn't dream of scolding you on that!
Hi Crysdawna . You Never Seem to AMAZE Me ! Just ❤️ Your work and Showing us Step By Step 👍 ❤️❤️ How it Turned Out ! Just ❤️ the Dowel Hardware 👍😊 Thank You SO Much From Western Australia Looking Forward To Your nxt video 👍💕
What a transformation in this piece. Looks great and I amazed with you carpentry work. You are so talented. Love the color and the pulls really makes the piece. Thanks for a great instructional video !!
Oh snap You look super cute in your bright shirt and low light! 💕 Ohh… I’m here for it. I love how you bring your vision to life. The wood and blue look gorgeous together!💕
It is hard to believe that it is the same dresser from the beginning. Fantastic job and thank you for showing us every step you took especially the ... shall we say imperfect yet honest ones. Some say ghetto, I say resourceful! And that is one of many things I love about your channel. Awesome job and those handles are so clever.
I'm loving these really informative videos, you make it that we understand, this piece was quite light for a change but think it's more sellable, but personally I love a good statement piece.😉🙂😍👍👏🧡
Hello! The hair. Sorry if I missed you addressing it earlier, I’m a few videos behind. You are gorgeous, blonde, pink or a rainbow. 🌈 You excel at teaching and I appreciate the from scratch legs. The piece is beautiful and the oak made a huge difference. The tape on the bit is genius! Anyone who makes it work by thinking out of the box is obviously brilliant. I know woodworkers often use it to control the depth. I need one of those kreg bits. I have the jig but slept on the bit. I’m copying the drawer pulls, ok? 😁 I love copper plumbing pieces and those make me happy. Thanks so much for the detailed tutorial, even if you are familiar with most of it there is always something you can pick up and you are a joy to watch/listen too. 👏👏💕
@@BellaRenovare I’m better now, had a couple of hospital stays due to low sodium but am getting back on track. Then my phone died and I really enjoyed not being attached to it. 😂 But your videos are in my saved pile and I’ll catch up thx. 😘❤️
I started watching this and my 4 year old only saw your hair for a moment and he said, "oh, kind of pink hair, that must be Crys'Dawna!" 😂 He's got a keen eye, lol!
question? When u attach the legs u used different screws for the pocket hole is that important? Can any type of screws be used or just need to be the ones u used? Thanks..
ahhh no it isn't they are both wood screws, my husband just really like using Kreg screws for EVERYTHING so I just started using them, it doesn't really matter lol
The Oak and Oak looks so much better. Whodathot? It takes vision and courage to say what you did is wrong and try something that could be better. Real education in these bits of the creation. Step by step I get the idea.makes me want to try a machine and make pocket holes . Thank you both.
I agree, I am confident in admitting when my designs don't quite hit the mark, I like to be honest and transparent because I want you to know it happens even to people who do this all day everyday!!
Hello!! Two pieces done and a shock RED and the other one coral with blue and gold....thank you for inspiring me to try color instead of painting only white and grey or black...So far I love the look of the pieces...
