If that sounds scary to you, you need to readjust. Or maybe, you know, actually learn what these terms represent. They're not meant to sound scary at all. They are quite literally what they describe. A dome of heat, and a flow in the atmosphere (otherwise regarded as a river..... not a big stretch.)

Before this feller described what a heat dome was, I was living like an animal, saying things like "sure is hot out today' and it'snot the heat...it's the humidity. I feel like such a fool.
