Cutting a wide gap in the ivy vines going up the trees will kill it off and reduce the chance of tree rot. Basically ali ivy needs tight control. Its a menace.

Funny like it's a constant fight of humans against nature, but nature will ultimately win at the end. Just give it some years after the last human will quit this good ol earth and everything the humans will have ever produced will end up covered and eaten back by nature.

I love the "snake prevention" cuts. Like cutting 8ft back off the grass line is really going to stop a snake. It definitely makes it look 100 times better, but I don't think a snake cares as it crawls across it.
@ericpaul4575
@ericpaul4575 Год назад
But they can’t hide in it like they can in the ivy.
@connslvr
@connslvr Год назад
Stop? No, but it’s rare to find a snake in open grass unless it’s trying to move across it from cover to cover. A) the things snakes eat don’t live there. B) birds of prey like the easier targets in the open, which is why the things snakes eat don’t live there. Now, that area isn’t THAT open, but it’s more open than it was.

Quite a beautiful job, Jon. This was a radical remake of a backyard that, frankly, has gotten out of control. You had asked in a previous video what we would like to see. I would tell you to keep doing what you’re doing. That fact that you’re a survivor, that you not only continue to put out videos, but are actually prospering, is enough for me. And the obvious fact that you can take a mess of a jungle like this and make it beautiful.

I've never cut any English ivy , but I have cut kudzu , and that stuff comes back 10 fold like I've herd you talk about bamboo.
@williambryant5946
@williambryant5946 Год назад
The only way to really get rid of bamboo and kudzu is to cut or mow it down or rip it out with the excavator then take 12" to 18" of dirt away and replace it. I don't know if it would be the same way with english ivy but I'd imagine so with all the roots it puts down. Spraying bamboo or kudzu won't guarantee the crap won't grow back either. Removing the ground layer that has the roots is the only way to completely get rid of it is what I've learned from trying to remove either of them.
@butchgreene
@butchgreene Год назад
Anyone reading this that sees all that kudzu...it's going to come right back. Not because he didn't do a great job of removal, but because to kill it, you have to cut the crowns/tap roots of the individual vines. To the author of this video, you could make a little extra money as maintenance to offer to come back in the fall and spray Transline (pea vines specific) on new growth kudzu as it pops up on their property. Just have one of your crew swing through. Doesn't do as much good in the spring. Fall when it flowers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-r-WptQvwJ-c.html&pp=ygUZY29uc2VydmluZyBjYXJvbGluYSBrdWR6dQ%3D%3D

@CaptainRon1913
@CaptainRon1913 Год назад
The customer is an idiot for allowing that Kudzu vine to take over like that. They need a drum of round-up, and cut those vines stalks from the base of the trees. They aren't going to have any trees left if they don't
