What's one thing you're going to try this week to simplify your life? Remember, the goal isn't perfection - it's finding what works for YOU to live with less stress. Drop your thoughts below, and let's chat about lazy ways to live our best lives! 👇😎 PS: If you found this video helpful, sharing it with a stressed-out friend is an easy way to spread some zen. Just sayin' 😉
“not spend hours watching videos about it” 😂😂😂😂 I’ve been doing that for months…in fact…I just found your channel as I have been going thru shit this weekend I haven’t touched in 3 years that built up over the pandemic because I was 2nd guessing my own intuition to get rid of it. I’ve been minimal for years…but recently want to go more extreme. Even though I have way less stuff than anyone I know…it’s still too much. I can feel it draining my energy every time I walk into my apartment 😳🤦♀️ NOW I’M READY‼️
😂😂 I think I watch decluttering videos the way other people watch crime dramas!! I thought I'd seen everything, but found a couple of gems in the video. I hope you're getting on top of your stuff again!
@@lmack6596 Amazing that you found a couple of gems! 😁 Now, go put them into action before watching your next fix! 🤣 Side note: we're moving this coming weekend, so it's going to be a clean-out and declutter fast around here!
As I declutter, not only does the space feel lighter, but my physical body as well. So fascinating. This week I got rid of the dresser in my bedroom. Feels good.
Aww, you two are so cute together!!! I love all your tips, but #5 is my favorite. I'm ready for a nice reset in my life and your video is very motivational.
Fun fact: before we start filming, we jump around like a couple of teenagers and say things like: We are inspiring and motivating. Seems like it worked. 😂❤
👍👍😊 Ha!! Great video !! Had to laugh as you reminded me of having decluttered a bit TOO MUCH after moving from NYC to Florida. I went back to the Thrift Shop where I’d donated several kitchen items and “bought back” my favorite teapot 🫖!! 😂😂 -V
I'm not an extreme minimalist but over the past 9 years ( I moved house 7 years ago) I've been getting rid of 40 years of ' I'll deal with that later syndrome ( whilst quickly filing away the paperwork)! As I get less and less stuff so life is easier to manage. Before I buy something I consider whether I would want to dust, clean, store or use it. One tip for the almost overwhelming job of digital decluttering is to do 1 minute per day. It is amazing how many emails one can delete or file properly ( if they are essential) in one minute. Loving your videos. Very inspiring!
Yay - we're happy to hear you're enjoying the videos. We absolutely love this: "Before I buy something I consider whether I would want to dust, clean, store or use it."
I honestly have been enjoying decluttering and living with less. I am having a difficult time getting my spouse on board. I work around him and focus on the children's items, home items, and my own. I have decluttered three times since October. It's amazing how many items we are able to declutter when we revisit things and realize they have no true purpose in our lives anymore. I am now even more mindful of what I bring in, even food so we are not wasteful.
This is a very simple approach to what I've been needing in my life! After having alot kids and being known for having anything and everything, I'm more than ready to focus on me and what I need to begin a life with less "noise" and more peace♡ thank you for helping me begin! P.S. I shared this so the people I know can benefit too.
How did I not know about your channel!?! You are, by far, the best thing on the internet. Wonderful message! I’ll be making my way through all your videos ❤🙏. (Hell yeah / No 😂😂 This. Is. Everything!!)
Simplifying your schedule! 💯 This is less talked about in decluttering videos, but it's such a goodie. I've been trying to get better at saying "no" to things that aren't a "hell yeah" too. It is difficult, but so freeing. I find I feel a lot less resentful now. Next step for me is to get better at saying "no" without explaining why. Maybe a future video - could you give us some tips on how to get better at that please? 🤔💕
Hmmmm, that's a good idea. Saying no without offering an explanation takes practice. For whatever reason, humans feel the need to explain themselves. Start practicing with easy things, i.e., online messages rather than face-to-face. We have a group we join every week, and when I can't join, I now say: Sorry, I won't be joining tonight. A couple of emojis always helps to soften things. Hope that helps. 😁
We follow a 3-month rule (which often becomes a 6-month rule when we're busy or lazy, haha). If we haven't used something in that time, we ditch it. We exclude seasonal and special occasion items (e.g., fancy outfits for weddings) from this approach. But even here, we make sure to check in with ourselves to make sure we're keeping things for the right reasons. Side note: we don't have any books. We have a Kindle and we borrow books from the library. 🤓
I would love a video about your daily food! Just as a reflection. I am trying to get minimalist in the kitchen, and still out of some vegetables pan , my kitchen looks like there was an explosion there. How to be simple in the kitchen would be my wish, without avoiding variety and healthy food of course!
We did a video on that a little while ago. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-otKzQuJjW5w.html :) It changes thought, so maybe we'll do another one sometime. We're also planning one on our kitchen utensils/appliances at some point.
Really enjoyed this video. I too lead a relatively stress free life and like a minimal approach to most things. I hadnt been to a shopping mall for a while but I did the other day (I was having a massage lol) and was once again reminded of how much people buy. I dont mind "window" shopping but Im not much of a shopper. After going to the shopping mall, three op shops and one book shop in two days I bought one book lol. 😂
Ha ha one book in two days. Well done! We both enjoy going to the mall, but mainly for coffee and/or a meal and to window shop. We both feel it's even more gratifying than actual shopping since it doesn't cost anything.
I find digital clutter to be more overwhelming and time consuming (consumption of it and decluttering it) to be more costly than any other type of clutter. Followed by close relationships where decluttering them is not as clear and the mental clutter of never feeling good enough.
I fantasized about deleting my google account and that would be the end of the digital clutter. I will NEVER look at the ten thousand cat photos that I have,LOL
The problem with digital clutter is that it's too easy to dismiss it as not that big of a problem-because you can just close your laptop and pretend it isn't there. 🤔
@@lesleyannjacobs1383 Sporty is also originally from Natal! At the moment, we're in Gordon's Bay, but we'll be moving back to Cape Town City Bowl in the next month or two. 😎
@@lesleyannjacobs1383 Sporty's napping at the moment, but if memory serves, she grew up on the Bluff, went to Brighton Beach Primary for a year or two, and then to a German school in Wartburg. 😃
I am 41 years old I have learned more from minimalism I'm less stressed I don't have to fight with my family over hours of sorting out stuff that's overpriced over cluttered and have free time to enjoy the hobbies and the wife that I want
Interesting! I still have photos from my family, but I never look at them either. Your comment has motivated me to digitize a few and then declutter all of them. 😁
Hi Megan...do you mean sad because we live without furniture? 🤔 We get that it can be extreme, but our mission is to bypass the need for walkers, canes, and even mobility scooters to get around. 😑 If not having a couch will help us avoid that, we're all for the floor. 🤩
