Hello friends! I am back with another decluttering video, and this might be my most exciting yet! Our pantry was dark and dim and ugly, and I'd been wanting to do a makeover on it for years (since we moved in!)
New! I have an Amazon storefront now, and it is filled with everything I use daily, cute things I'd love to have in my kitchen, cooking supplies, cleaning supplies, and sustainable living/DIY project supplies. If you'd like to use the link, I earn a commission off sales whether they are made on items linked in the storefront OR if you just shop Amazon through that link. I appreciate the support!

When you come to the decision that you can make the "hidden" corners of your home, it is life changing! I never realized before that all of the "junk" spaces I had were really representing my lack of respect for myself and for belongings that mattered to me. I absolutely love the vibe of your revamped pantry!

Turned out beautifully! For anyone also having a problem with smoker-stained (nicotine) window frames and doors: My gramma taught me to use denatured alcohol/methylated spirit to wash the door first to get the stain (and yellow) off.

Thanks for sharing this. Baskets in pantry spaces are a godsend. Just a suggestion. You could paint the back of the door in blackboard paint, so you can quickly write things down, as you find supplies running low. It would also diminish the yellowing of the paint. Cheers.

A really good tip for laying contact paper is to spray some soapy water before you put down the sticky paper because while it’s wet you can move it and slide it wherever you need it to go and then you just take a ruler or paint scraper or really anything with a hard flat edge and slide it like you would normally over the top and it’ll squeeze the water out from underneath it and then you just need to wait for the water to dry completely underneath and it should turn out pretty close to perfect…I learned the hard way trust me I Feel your frustration

It has been very tidy and very clean, a pantry with all the jars in between is crazy and you don't even want to go in, in a house there must be cleanliness and order, because it is also proven, that if there is cleanliness and order you work better and your head works better. Thanks for the video.

1975 February dinner party for valentine day, is my suggestion for a dinner date to make. Mid seventies if 1975 is too specific for any of the cookbooks. For the redo, the shelf liner bubbles that sometimes happen. A safety or sewing pin used to put a tiny hole in the bubble then press the bubble towards the hole will make them disappear from the shelf. The room door took so much more layers than the rest of the room because of the type of material that it is. Washing it with tsp (Trisodium phosphate) is a great way to remove smoking residue, but the door material is still going to need about 3-4 coats of deep clean primer, because it is like the old paneling that is from the 1970s or so, and that stuff took us many layers of primer before we put on a color coat. Also, if you want to a handy person can swap the way the freezer door opens up, so that it would be opening from the right to the left, instead of the other way around, and you would need to have some space on the wall opposite the can goods for the door opening swing, but not the whole way down the wall. Then you could have a bookcase of some sort like those doubled shelf spacers or something similar on the table area, or whatever you wanted there, if you want. It’s not stuck like it is in other words. Anyway, you made a lovely place to make magic for your self and your family. May you have many wonderful moments in there.

A series with the Vintage cookbooks would be awesome! Also don't feel bad about the wallpaper being a struggle, and usually is for everybody! But there is a tool that you can use to basically smooth out the wallpaper really well that helps it's like a little plastic tool. That might make it a little less of a headache.

This inspired me to clean out the 7 bottom cabinets in my kitchen! They were chock full of unnecessary kitchen supplies that I hadn’t even looked at in a year because I was avoiding dealing with it. I finally dragged it all out to the middle of the floor, cleaned the very few things I knew I would use, got rid of the rest, cleaned the cabinet space, and now all but 1 is sitting empty. I feel like a compartment in my mind is empty too! 🤩

A cooking series would be wonderful. To me the 1940's would be interesting sometimes as food was scarce with the war for rationing .To see how women would come up with ways to make recipes for their families with what little they had. Love the makeover. Doing something just for you because it makes you happy, is the best reason to do it! I have a 9 foot wall, floor to ceiling of cookbooks i have many more in boxes as well. My Mom collected them, and I do too. They give me pleasure! I usually look up at least two or three recipes before I cook anything new. I am 74 years old, so I have many years of collecting on you. If you are going to keep the cardboard box for food storage. You might try wrapping the outside in gift wrap paper. It would hide the box, and you can keep your theme. Red gingham would be cute too.

Kristina. My sister showed me a trick when I had to do a whole kitchen when I was moving in. Don’t take off all the backing paper. Only take a triangle shaped bit off each corner. Oh my goodness! OF COURSE you should make things cute for yourself! I re-did my entire apartment by myself even though I never invite anyone in because I prefer to be by myself Idk, if you need it, but to give a bit more functionality to the wall where the fridge door closes, you could hang a chalkboard for a grocery list. I always find it easier when I keep writing things down as I run out of them, as opposed to making a grocery list before going to the store as this way I always forget something.

I just started watching some of your videos today. I'm not a parent and something I noticed is that your kitchen and pantry are not overrun with "kid specific" stuff. If I didn't know you have 5 kids I wouldn't know from seeing what's in your pantry. And that's meant as a compliment. Again, as a non parent, watching people with kids it's overwhelming to see how much STUFF is seemingly needed for them. But you're obviously proving, kids can eat from regular dishes and don't need 25 special cups. LOL I think that's cool!

If you want to use your cookbooks - maybe you could do a comparison series, testing a common recipe (e.g. cornbread, vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cake, pancakes, mashed potatoes, a roast or casserole of some type) from 5 different cookbooks. It'd 1) test which one you like best and 2) test if that cookbook has well-written recipes.

Because the freezer can take the weight. I would put a pretty farmhouse wire rack on top and store anything you like. You can even hide the items by pinning a curtain on the wire rack or a pretty vintage cabinet bolted on the wall over the freezer is another idea for all your cookbooks. This will help preserve them clean and away from kitchen grime that tends to get on surfaces.

I admire Kristina's ability to take everything out at once. That would be too overwhelming for me. I find it easier to do one drawer a day. One shelf a day. Kiristina you are fortunate in having an old fashioned walk-pantry. Most of us have food cupboards now. So for me, for example, everything is not all in one place. My Mum had a walk-in, her house was built in England in the early 1950's. I was born in '52 and they were already in there not long previously. Her pantry had a wide "cold shelf" of white tiles at waist height for meat and dairy and narrower shelves above. We didn't get a fridge till the late '50's/early '60s. I am happy for you it all worked out in the end it looks very pretty.

That turned out so cute. I have the same aesthetic issue, but even if I didn’t? I would love it. Because when you take something that dark and make it bright? In a place that you use all the time it just makes sense. Especially how it affects our feelings, right? I collect vintage cookbooks as well, and what a clever idea to put them in there. Not only is it cute to look at? It probably will inspire you more while you’re in there. I take a lot of slack for my family for my pantry organization. All good humored. But I do it for me. Just because it makes me happy. And that’s a good enough reason. You go, girl, congratulations on all the hard work.

This turned out so cute! I'm so happy for you. I just wanted to say I just found you about a week ago and have been catching up with your videos. I needed to see this and your message of I want it to look cute even if it's just for me. I've been so discouraged lately. I just stopped caring. No one comes over and I feel like my family for the most part does not notice what I do. Only what I don't do. But you're right. I clean and make my home and yard pretty because I love it. And that is just as important as what others think.

So cute 🍓🍓🍓 You could put a gingham scalloped edge to some of your shelving to be extra. Lol. I really love it as it is cute and efficient.

I adore your hobbit meal video. What if you did more tie ins? It could be book/movie themed like Narnia or classic movies like Bringing Up Baby or it could be centered around people and time like what sort of meals would Louisa May Alcott have eaten. I dont know. Those probably aren't the best examples, but maybe a springboard for better ideas ♥️

I would love to see videos about cooking vintage meals. I so often find myself in a run when cooking for my family of four. I would love to get some new ideas for entrees.

You did amazing Kristina! Your closet looks so much better! Your hardwork on the shelf liner was so worth it and totally matches your home astetic! I will check out that game! Have you ever though about having aprons made and you sell them? I think you would make great $ if you did! Thank you for sharing with us!
