That's what you do.. there is nothing worse as a nurse/doctor than when you can't do anything. Esp with kids, you will do whatever you can & are allowed to do, to save their lives.. It would be impossible NOT to do anything, not to atleast try!
All of these Nurses and Doctors were put to the ultimate test, and they didn’t crack. They are our Angels walking on earth. SALUTE to all doctors and nurse for everything they do.
... "and he said ' essentially, you were playing God' ... No. I wasnt playing God I was playing paramedic and that's what we do." ~ Mark Creswell I can't help but clap in the end, this people deserves way more recognition and respect
I can imagine how terrified i would be if i was plugged into some sort of life support machine in a storm with the chance of losing power, that would be intense
I was in the intensive care unit at 10yo on the 18th floor when a hurricane was coming through. It became scary when they boarded the windows with plywood while my IVs were still dripping. Fortunately it wasn't a direct hit and we didn't lose power.
I really felt for William. I can't begin to imagine the fright of knowing one little slip up could end you almost instantly. Being hand-pumped like that and slowly feeling yourself getting weaker and weaker, oh my gosh. It must've been exhausting. Props to the people that kept him safe and his machine too, I hope he's well today. Thank you to that amazing staff and those who helped, all those patients got to safety.
That nurse that had to hand pump the kids heart, my God I would have been an absolute wreck!!! Those looters are the lowest of the low, I mean their state is in an emergency and all they can think about is what they can get, but like where are they going to put it? Everything is flooded!!! Stupid people...
I watched this pouring tears. Just saying.... praise those drs and nurses and personnel and those precious parents for their ingenuity. And that amazing pilot. The young man's nurse was so dedicated to him. Everyone is a super HERO!!
Those staff are heroes!!! Praise God for those people!! Everyone who had a hand is a hero. Even in some of the darkest times when others are losing to darkness. U have those are the light!!! God Bless
I can imagine what a daunting task it could be to evacuate such critical patients in these hese tough conditions. Transferring from one building to the roof top of another amid flooded streets time pressure funding a suitable heli and at the same time trying to keep patients alive who are on the verge of death. Salute to the rescuers and hospital staff who take so much pain and give their everything for the rescue of their fellow human beings. You are the real heroes. ..The angels sent by God 👍👍👍❤️
That guy needs a medal his bills payed for all amazing people but if not for his quick thinking assesment and calm I cannot imagine what could have happened all hero's xxx
And people complain about doctors salaries. Watch an actor or a ball player put their life at risk to care for others. They're usually the first ones out in a private jet.
How about firefighters, and many others. Not every doctor put their life in the line but all have high six figure income. Many other profession are just as important and pats miniscule.
Captain Creswell & Gene Braham they do best duties in their career on that crucial & critical moment, he didn't give up that moment, GRREAT SALUTE for them 🥰
Wow, each and every one of those medical staff members are amazing. So committed and determined to saving their patients. I'm sure they were tremendously exhausted and stressed.
Thank God for all of the staff and rescuers involved in transporting the patients to safety, and not losing a single soul. God bless y'all!! Such a sweet and tender video of human love and intervention. 🙂❤🙏
@@vix3075The Uni(one) verse was created by Gods voice... Beautiful! Jesus IS God! Jesus had the body of a man but the spirit of God. Amen. Thank you God for showing us how to get into heaven. Just by living clean. Just as people in heaven would live. It's that simple! Peace!
I can not beleive those looters!! What disgusting people!! To go to break in and steal things instead of going to help people. Wow. Beyond lowest of the low
And people SHOOTING at helicopters?!?! Helicopters that were SAVING BABIES!!!! If a lot of helicopters are coming and going from a hospital AT ANY TIME assume theres something really bad happening. Some people are so disgusting. Thats just evil.
@Nancy Hollo I was alive when Katrina happened but I was only 4😅 no honestly, I didnt know that but I definitely know the government fails us way too often. Thank you for telling me that last part especially, thats beyond horrible and hear breaking.
@Nancy Hollo The government wasn't punishing people for not evacuating. They didn't care because New Orleans is a poor city with a large minority population. It was a Republican administration after all. You can bet that if it had been a wealthy "white" city, even if NO ONE had evacuated the rescue would have been immediate and massive.
a child heart in your hands .. serious work for those cardio thoracic surgeons. Must be such a feeling brining a child back to life. Bringing anything back to life is so special to me! These doctors are superheroes!
WOW. Until you see something like this you just have no idea what’s really going on behind what you see on the news. Outstanding, every single one of these people. Thank God for these angels. Love and respect ❤️
This is the most inspiring documentary I have ever seen. I hope William is OK?????????? Such great people. Mr Cresswell should have the Medal Of Honour.
Everyone in this from the nurses and patients, to rescue teams are TRUE AMERICAN HEROS! I enjoyed watching all these people, despite backgrounds and personal problems come together and help save these peoples lives and ensure their safety.
Watching this video really made me realize how much people in the medical field devote to their profession. The level of dedication shown in this video is incredible. Every single person who participated in this rescue is a true hero. Im so happy to hear that the boy who was hooked up to that heart machine got his transplant and is doing good, and that little Drew is healthy and growing as well!
I have just realized, after watching this video, that my daughter who is a nurse, is actually a hero. I am so proud of her. My salute to all of you in this story.
Thank god for all of these first responders. If it wasn’t for them none of these people would’ve survived. But I give a little extra to mark the paramedic who got them all out. He’s an amazing hero. God bless all of u!!
At our hospital they had something they called, Code Gray. It meant if a weather or any type of emergency prevented the next shift from coming in, they'd call it and everyone on duty was not allowed to leave until the code gray cleared. It also suspended all the normal rules to how long you can work, how many patients etc
I''m really shocked how people behaved after Katrina in this video. Looting, shooting choppers & everything. From a third world country with 20 and more hurricanes in a year, we are already so used to it that after a hurricane we just go on with our own lives like nothing happened.
I understand she loves her kid but seems to me like things would have been way easier without her there. Shes screaming, arguing with the helicopter pilot and slowing them down. Totally not trying to be mean but seriously should have just left without telling her.
@@patrikpass2962 No way they remember everything that was said, this is a reenactment. They remember and ask for big details. They probably exaggerate or add things to make the story more intense
@@patrikpass2962 that’s not true, I watched another one of these reenactments from this channel about boys who fell through ice into a freezing lake and they forgot a person from the story completely. There were 2 boys in the reenactment but there were 3 boys who fell through the ice in real life
You would have to be the lowest form of life... that in a disaster like that with people dying and so many lives at risk, that you would put your energy into stealing stuff!!!!
The issue is it’s a lot easier to judge looking in from the outside but the fact is that these people went weeks without any type of real help, some trapped in their homes or in absolute filth at the superdome etc. and when there is anger there is injustice. The looting of course garnered national attention and just maybe May have gotten them the assistance they originally hoped for. Yes there are always opportunist who steal sh*t they don’t really need but I will say if it was a matter of life or death that I’d steal for my family’s survival without question. And it would include clothing, food, mattresses and so much more. That Doesn’t make me low it makes me human. I also know that if that happened in California or NYC none of the inhuman circumstances would have occurred. Lower income means less quality of life to some... it’s easier to View them as criminals so we can ignore what they actually were going through and the lack of resources would be warranted.
We see it all the time now-a-days with these so called "peaceful protests" which is why I fully support the shooting of looters on sight (and even rioters, for that matter, since they are destroying *private* property and you DO have a right to protect your property.)
Wow! With the city flooded and abandoned and it's people freaking out and doing wrong, There were still people doing GOOD things for others! This was amazing!
This video has restored my faith in humanity...everyone of these people came together with a common goal and created one miracle after another. All are heros
Great story! After Katrina, all of our hospitals experienced the same problem of having to find a way to transport the most at-risk patients before the generators stopped functioning. It was a panic situation everywhere.
The work of these doctors taking on their own evacuation is miraculous! "Help is on the way" by Rise Against shows the story of why people were so desperate and looting. It wasnt just for drugs. The government really failed the people of New Orleans during this tragedy.
Man, engineers should really design hospitals with the generators enclosed safely on the roof top knowing they are in an area at risk of hurricanes and flooding.
Man when that mother got separated from Drew and then when the helicopter flew off without her I felt her heart wrenching pain. I know the feeling when I had to hand my newborn over to the nurses when I needed a blood patch and tears went down my eyes. Knowing this is for lesser time and we are still both even in the same hospital. New mothers really are extra sensitive with emotions after having a new baby. Even I was looking back as long as I could seeing the nurse holding my child as they wheeled me off. It is like what is wrong with you woman it is a minor surgery and you will be back in no time. But my heart felt like it was being ripped out. I could not take this poor woman's pain, with the added not knowing.
Just shocking that the looters and thieves get on the prowl and dumbfounding that they were shooting at the helicopters. Gives you a glimpse what kind of low life is out there.
Amazing heroism these medical staff and pilots displayed. The other side of the story is much darker and sad. There were many doctors and nurses who evacuated this hospital and when doing so, euthanized many patients before they left. The whole situation was utter and pure pandemonium, and i couldn't imagine having to make that call myself, but i wouldn't want to have my loved one rot and die slowly either.
The looters vs. all the doctors, nurses, pilots, etc., in this film. A great example of how a crisis can bring out the worst in some people and the absolute best in others.
@@Mittibh BS..Quit making excuses... The average US taxpayers unnecessarily spend 10 times more than the rest of the world for Military "Defense". Going into territory without electricity is their specialty.. The last kid had to wait forever for a chopper large enough to take a relatively small 500 LB machine.. The Military has thousands of these choppers within a 500 mile radius.. There's a ton of military camps in Texas and Louisiana.. The Bush admin.. was simply completely ignorant, just like the Army Corp of Engineers and our government failed keep Americans Infrustructures safe.. We have so many deteriorated Dams, Bridges, Roads, Sewars..etc.. just rotting and we would rather rebuild the countries in Middle East after we bomb and destroy them...Jest to exploit them...
God Bless all these Dr.s, Staff, parents and Brave patient’s. To Chris the paramedic, not playing god! You saved all those patients lives. I can’t imagine the reward you hold in your heart for all you did amongst such tragedy and turmoil. You were there Angel with helicopter wings! Amongst the other helicopter pilots risking their lives to save a child’s life! You are true American Hero’s!
Between heart stopping crisises like this one and the whole covid situation, why are we still under valuing these truly amazing people? They NEVER desert their patients and will often put their own lives in danger to give their patients the very best of chances. But still, actors and sportspeople are paid astronomical amounts of money, whilst our true heroes are ridiculously underpaid.
This was the most horrific experience of my life!! I was born and raised in New Orleans and never saw this much water in my life! I have since moved but just looking at this is overwhelming me!!😳🥺🙏
Cried thru the whole thing. 2005 and the memories flood back. it was so hot that August and we were 5hrs away but NOLA was on our mind all the time. Didnt know it at the time but my future daughter in law was in Baton Rouge. God was with those heroes for sure. They were divinely there on purpose.
