One super surreal part of 2021 has been getting to work remotely with MOBY on a few tracks (or at least I THINK it’s Moby...that or someone with identical tatts.) Not just this cover, but also a reeeeally beautiful orchestral rendition of The Great Escape. It’s on his latest album, Reprise (now in all the places, so go check it out!)
I adore this track, due to the borne films. So I was "this will be great or awful. " Like David Arnold's treatment of the bond themes this was a great rendition sympathetic to the original but with something new and exciting thrown into the mix. And then there was the man behind the original for an added bonus. Wonder how you would treat Go by Moby at a more moderate tempo and chilled vibe as only pompelmous can.
This is one of the (many) covers by Nataly, Jack - and that lecherous-looking base player - that is so good, you HAVE to play it twice - or even thrice - then send it to all your friends. Did that last year, just done it again - and it remains one of my favourites from Pomplamoose. More, please...
Nick's technique in this song is giving more attack on his notes, more separation. I wonder if that's a conscious choice for this song or a change in his overall technique? When I go back and listen to the tracks with Hagar Ben Ari, I'm struck by how clear her bass lines are. Nick's are faster, more complicated, but they don't come through quite so clearly, and I have yearned for this increase separation so that they would be more distinctive.
@@CliffordBeshers Nick always makes a conscious choices :) And his technique is on level Expert ++. That bass line is played as clear as it gets. It's the matter of effects that he used on this one, that you might not like. I personally (as a fellow bass player) loved it.😁
WOW this was a throwback for me. Play and 18 were the soundtrack to a big part of my childhood. Hearing an updated funkified version of "Extreme Ways" is a real treat. The BASS LICKS in this cover oh my god. Amazing work as always.
I love it even more than the reprise version. Nataly did a very good job setting the right mood with her vocals, it was brilliant. Moby playing from the TV makes it so moby... in a sense it echoed "Natural blues" where old moby was watching his life on a TV.
@@Mossfaerie Yes... well done. But what does being an 'understated producer' even mean? It's not a thing. Just saying it because it sounds clever doesn't justify its use. It isn't even understated as his name is in the title and his presence is celebrated in the video description. So how the fuck is he understated?
This is brilliant! I absolutely love the 4:3 rhythm on the first 3 beats of the 4 beat measures. Don't think I've ever come across that pattern before, and Nataly's singing is right in the groove.
I just rewatched Supremacy, and on the end credit I was like "whaaat? this is what they had released couple weeks ago!" More reason to like Pomplamose and The Bourne Trilogy
I think what is special about your music and sound, is that anyone familiar with your work or material, could recognize you on the radio, without knowing who the band really was. That is something to be very proud of. Even if it does not register as immense monetary success.
As always: wow.... What a band.... And: Nick's bass....yes sir. That's how you do it. He has compelled me to take the bass off the rack and play it...thanks, you....
I'm not good at english but I have to say this! THEY ARE SO AMAZING! I do remember when they show up with unique vibe. Telephone, Beat it, Mr. sandman, etc. I heard so many good music and saw awesome playing skills when I student. And now, they are huge youtuber and singer. I know I'm making silly comments, but I'm so happy. I'M HAPPY!!! everyone listen their music more than twice!
The people who disliked this were too entranced with the enormous amount of funk and talent on this track that it messed with their vision and they accidentally bumped the wrong button. 💛 Never stop making music and doing what you love, Pomplamoose!
@@tillythehat Moby falsely claiming he dated the much, much younger Natalie Portman, and the awful way he reacted when she disputed his claims. He's just a gross old man.
Can't believe following this band for two years and and I discover they've made a video at a place that use to throw my favourite parties. I had the best weekends in that house! Birds of Paridise! And thanks for looking after my plants 🪴 ❤
