A deadly blizzard has paralysed Buffalo, New York, trapping motorists in their cars, knocking out electricity to thousands of homes and raising the death toll from a severe winter storm system that has frozen much of the US for days.

Buildings around the edges of Lake Eerie have been left looking like ice castles after days of heavy snow and high winds created conditions that local officials said were probably the most severe since 1977. The New York governor, Kathy Hochul, said a deadly blizzard pummelling Buffalo over the holiday would go down in history as one of the worst. 'We are in a war, this is a war with mother nature,' Hochul said.

Makes it more likely, yes warmer poles = lower thermal gradients (polar > temperate > tropics) = weaker jet streams = more polar to temperate spill over. @The Human Canary it has happened plenty of times before, with much larger variance. The general trend is quite possibly in that direction too, yes. The difference is the speed of change. Normally (not always), these trends allow adaptation in nature. When change is fast, then the effects are bad (pretty much all of the 7 great extinction epochs show this)

This was once called winter.. Iknow we have forgotten it well. I remember walking in blizard of 92.. and other.. also 4 times a year with 3 foot snow drifts in MA. This was a time , before the time of wussy man.. This was once called Winter.
