As someone who worked in elementary education for many years, I have never seen this information offered in the district I worked in. It's not common around here anymore, and I live near Kelly so I'm assuming it's not common there either. I'm sure it's a thing that has to be requested by the parents.

No, you didn't experience what we experienced. There were no warning labels. There were no seat belts. We didn't even have car seats...not even for infants. Smoking was legal in 100% of our public spaces including hospitals, grocery stores, doctor's offices, churches, restaurants, and airplanes. Our teachers smoked in the break room. We had lead in our toys and in the paint on cribs. Our pajamas were not flame resistant. Cabinet locks were not a thing. Leaving kids in hot cars was normal. Nobody "went to counseling". Teachers were allowed to "spank" students with an object, and then our parents spanked us for getting spanked at school. And how did we react to all that? We over-parented your generation and turned you into the weakest most self-entitled generation that ever existed 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

As a gen-x we did have labels. They were frowny face ick stickers on the poisons stuff and told as littles to stay away from them instead of being locked away. So it may be more about that than the tide pod thing. Kids weren't protected from stuff they were just expected not to drink soap or drain cleaner.

I won’t support the gen x slander here. I’m gen z and I love gen x. Y’all had the best music, movies, and fashion. My childhood was basically the same as yours, I just about lived outside so I understand all that. And you guys were way cooler than kids nowadays, you didn’t give a damn what people thought. Not to mention how much prettier the girls were and how hot the guys were. All of my crushes are 70s-80s guys because you knew what style was, personality wise and physically. I’d give anything to be a teen then, I covered my room in posters, magazine clippings, vinyls, and 60s-80s toys, I dress as accurately as possible, and I curl my hair with half a can of hairspray so I can at least pretend. My parents are gen x and I love hearing about all their crazy stories. Funny thing, my dad’s parents’ house is still exactly the same as it was when they moved there in ‘75. When you compare old photographs to now it’s all the same; the pink flower wallpaper, frilly curtains, matching flower couch, etc. Takes me back in time.

You have to understand the thing about Gen X and our parents. There were literally commercials on at night asking parents if they knew where their kids were at 10pm on a school night and if they had hugged us today that’s insane. So I absolutely LOVE her and can completely relate to all her jokes and situations. A lot of the comments below seem sensitive. I have a GenZ/Millenial and a Millenial. They think she is hilarious as well. You do realize that it's human nature to stereotype right? Your humor and content are funny as well and there are things you say that make no sense to me just as it is for younger people watching her. Her kids are also Millenial/GenZ so she is not bashing the younger generation....just using sarcasm and humor to deal with our aging. So many of your generation have the same sense of humor as we do as you are being raised by GenX parents. I know mine do. I love love love GenZ/Millenials for all that you have to deal with (and DO deal with) that we never did. The day will come when you are dealing with the same things and I have no doubt you will do it with the same humor and reality as GenX are. It's part of what make life great!

It's not so much of a trauma as much as areality of our situation. All milk cartoons had pictures of missing kids on them. We were also left to our own devices at young ages because both parents were working. We also spent a lot of time away from home and our parents didn't know where we were, just as long as we were home for dinner or when the street lights came on. Schools recognized the real dangers of our reality. That's why they did the ID thing. It's also why most Gen Z (and Millenisls) didn't have this freedoms and had more involved parents.

I don't know how to explain this very well, but the thing about older generations saying "No one had to tell us not to eat tide pods!" is that social media literally didn't exist so there weren't as many nationwide trends. It's easier than ever to share everything and sorry but older generations do it too. We see an increase in the amount of trends over time in every age group!

We all had jobs by 11..children have it so easy today..no belts, board of education! We actually had to be a problem solvers. She is very extreme..We did get whipped before they took us to the ER for stitches. We are all going through today’s issues.
