Owning an antique restoration business for 20 plus years, Peezwell, the health and safety laws are to protect the workers, if you don't give a care for the safety of your workforce, that's on you. I am trying hard to understand why Google allows this to be run on their web site, I am sure, with what little knowledge I have of Google employees safety, if they owned a furniture manufacture they would require face masks to protect the worker lungs.

@@jimboyer5382 Jim ... read my post again. I was merely saying that the people would have been breaking just about every health & safety law in NZ. At NO point did I ever say anything that could be interpreted as not giving a damn about the workers safety. I have had the privilege of watching some craftsmen do amazing work under conditions very similar to what was shown, I literally cringed every time a a piece of the workers anatomy came close to a sharp tool ... so pull you H out of your A and please don't assume I don't give a damn.

I OWN A SMALL RESTORATION BUSINESS FOR OVER 20 YEARS, AND EVEN THOUGH WE ARE SMALL, SAFETY FIRST AND ALWAYS. I CAN NOT FATHOM THE LACK OF MORALITY THAT THE OWNER EXHIBITS, BY WESTERN STANDARDS BY ENDANGERING HIS EMPLOYEES LIVES. ALL CULTURES ARE DIFFERENT BUT I AM GLAD THAT OUR GOVERNMENT HAS LAWS IN PLACE TO PROTECT THE WORKERS. THIS IS ONLY ONE OF SEVERAL DANGEROUS BUSINESS'S THAT PUTS EMPLOYEE SAFETY IN HARMS WAY THAT ARE ALLOWED TO POST. MY QUESTION TO GOOGLE IS WHY? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR GOOGLE? i KNOW THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES WELL BEING, WHY NOT REQUIRE IT OF OTHERS?

@@jimboyer5382 Read my post again Jim ... this time without the Beam !! I'm not endorsing anything, I'm simply stating that the work done is incredibly good ! It's not a perfect world and some people who can produce such good work, instead of just filling up a couple of holes or dents and charge people ridiculous prices for "restoration", need to be appreciated ... end of story. If you have a problem with Google showing the skills of people who are so obviously at a far higher level than yourself, please try getting in touch with Larry Page or Sergey Brin to voice your complaints. Don't bother replying to me, otherwise I'll put in a formal complaint against YOU ... now F Off and sick your H back up your A !!

@@edmo43 But it's not just each country's laws, it's workers' personal work standards that I find scary. On RU-vid I've watched a lot of craftsmen in lots of different professions, I love to see them working. I recently saw people in one such country handling molten metal, literally within inches of their feet, and they were wearing flip flops! It was so scary, that I literally held my breath in shock. They must be so confident in their skill, that there is no danger, or they are particularly dumb.

This is a very interesting topic of conversation! It was on my mind while I watched these craftsmen work barefoot. I think it speaks to risk aversion as a culture more than it does blatant stupidity. In the USA, safety and environmental issues were common throughout the industrial revolution, all the way through the 1970's and 80's. Workplace death and injury was a part of life, and our standard for productivity was higher than our safety standards. Safety standards are now much more stringent, (as is our lawsuit culture!) because of the way our country and culture developed. The documentary film "American Factory" is a great look at the comparison between US and Eastern (in that case, Chinese) cultures surrounding work and safety, and environment today. It's interesting that MANY of the world's goods come from countries with lower safety/environmental standards than the "first world" countries that buy these cheap goods from them! It's an interesting world!
