Thanks for sharing this....I've only been doing Wing Chun for 12 months but it gets you hooked. This master has some serious talent...kudos!

Martin Brierley is the elite of wing chun...performed and taught at the very highest level of mental/physical/spiritual aspects of wing chun...If you've never met the man make sure you do he is a treasure of britain...It's a shame not many people know about him.

Wc study is like shopping for piano, any made seems to sound musical and tuned, but when you juxtaposed side by side to a,say, Stanway, you then realized the other one act ually sounding like dropping utensils. In your case, as with most cases in the the West, people just don't have the means to bench mark. Btw, most people learning from Kwok seem to make a career out of doing one-punch, which is such a small miniscule aspect of wc. Live your ascent !! Keep up with your quest.

Sifu Martin Brierley is a true wing chun master and a person with great knowledge. Your do not even need be a practitioner of wing chun or even meet him to learn something you can apply to life, just open your ears and eyes.

Hi mate! Nice upload. Especially the chi sau between Martin and Ip Chun. I was actually there and I'm in the video towards the end! How can I get a copy of the seminar please? Must be from round 1993 give or take a year? I trained under Brian Hook and Martin would pop in every now and again. I remember doing some chi sau with him and he had fast hands! He told me a couple of stories too! How is he and where does he train. I'd quite like to turn up. Also, the other video you included with escrima training in the background - was that the seminar hosted by the guy from the USA? Because I might be in that video too! Thanks and all the best.

Where are the masters ? Ip Chun is a long time wc practitioner happened to be one of the two offsprings of grandmaster Yip Man, I grant you that. Blood line do not guaranteed mastery, skill does. May be surprisingly to the western world, majority of Chun's and Jing's learnings of wc came not directly from his father, Yip Man, but from the traditional "kungfu brother system". The only ramnants of what Yip Man actually taught can only be seen in the lineages of the first three students, Leung Shang, Lol Yiu and Shu Shan Tin, perhaps that of Ho Kam Ming's. Glad I had the pleasure of being tutored by all of these in the 70's.

If this gwai lo is the bench mark, then columbus's discovery would not have been a mistake. Just think, if kwok is hardly a benchmark, if Yip chin and Yip king are not even close to being a quasi-benchmark, how could this qwai lo a benchmark. If one-inch pinch is the in-all, I think Mohamed Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson would have paid to be taught that and it would be a standard skillset for MMA today. Too much fish-and-chips and pub food on the Isle. Pls it took 100+ years to correct Columbus, let s not do it again.

Ask a fish what it is like dry, fish can't tell until it has a chance to be caught. Practice a 1000 times of one-inch punch a day is like using a solar powered flash light or like we said in china "pulling your pants down just to pass gas !!", meaning superfluous acts.

Martin, you seem to lack the true rythem of martial arts, movement is nothing without rythem.Martial arts and rythem are one,this is an exstencion of the soul:Without the soul one can never connect martial arts and rythem, this renders the art style usless.

IP CHUN'S WING CHUN was GARGABE!!! In Hong Kong the real Wing Chun masters would watch videos of him and laugh. It's a wonder to me how anyone who claims to have knowledge of wing chun, would claim that he was any good. I guess it just goes to show how easily fooled people can be.

Some of the worst Chi Sau I've ever seen. Sorry, but I couldn't watch it anymore.
