Wow so didn't realize that Alocasia were that resilient. I love your message that if Alocasia can make it, so can we. I look forward to updates. Stay blessed and safe. I will be thinking of you this Thanksgiving as I'm very thankful for you my friend🤗👍❤.

These are some of my favorite type of videos. I also enjoy trying to rescue “dead” or dying plants (not always successful).

So glad you you rescued that rotten piece. When you threw that away I was screaming, nooo don’t do that. Coming from South America I used to help my mom cleaning up, peeling taro root which is both from the Araceae family. We threw the peels on the compost heap and from the peels often a new little plant would develop. I hope you will get good plants 🌿👍🏽

Thanks you and I am so happy you stopped in for a visit. The nepenthes plant can be tricky. They thrive in high humidity conditions and I believe that in some cases can do poorly using faucet water. I had one that I kept in my garden and surprisingly still struggled. It eventually died back and I haven’t gotten another one since. I do like how unusual and unique they are...I may one day give it another go and see if I can get it to thrive in my conditions. Best of luck to you with yours and HAPPY GROWING! 😀

@amaraeddins3300
@amaraeddins3300 2 года назад
I got a bulb last year because my grandma had some and I wanted to pot some in her old pot. It was beautiful! But I didn’t know you had to over winter them, now I see it written EVERYWHERE, but I didn’t see it last fall when I looked it up. My bulb was mushy on the top, I cut it off. And let it dry out. Some of the roots were still kicking so I thought “eh let me just put it in the greenhouse. Where I cut the rot, it’s turned brown and rotted some more. I washed everything away so I would just have the bulb. And some of it was still quite firm. I removed the squish, added some neem oil, back in the green house. I didn’t peroxide it, but I’m thinking maybe I should. Im hoping it will pull through, I know elephant ears are tough. Your video gives me hope, because I haven’t seen a lot of people discussing this issue!

Awwwwwwww thanks so much! I actually forgot all about and happen to stumble across it...it literally almost tripped me...I imagine it was its final attempt to be rescued. When I seen it I had to give it a looksey and I was so happy that I did! I couldn’t believe that it was literally still fighting for its life. I had to give it a chance for survival. My plant motto is “just as long as you don’t give up, neither will I” so I took the challenge by the horn! I really believe that we gave it a good shot so now we wait and keep our fingers crossed. Thanks for watching my dear and wish us luck!

It was NAAAAAAASTY! ...and yes a plant will try to survive in whatever way it can...even when it looks like all hope is gone....BAMMO SURPRISO! 😆 They never cease to amaze me...they really are very thought provoking and inspiring! They hold the secret to life...if we’d only take a moment to really listen. 🥰. PS thanks so much for the vote of confidence! I too am “rooting” for the underplant. 🤗😂🤗

Not related to the video, but great job!! Can you recommend a large leaf plant that is similar to the crystallinum or verrucosum that is iridescent but not so expensive??? I'm sure I butchered their spelling LOL There are a lot of beautiful plants out there that don't get a lot of attention!!

I know this is the stupidest question, but was the powdered cinnamon the same as you buy in the grocery store, the stuff you can eat? or some thing called cinnamon powder that you have got to buy special in gardening stores? please help, I have plant babies that could use plant band-aids like that. I love plants and love to garden... (I just started really)... and found this video to be most informational. I want to watch more. Thank you.

Hi! Please help me help my elephant ears. I've had GORGEOUS, HUGE (3ft 1" ear was the largest) elephant ears for three years now . I overwintered them outside (I'm in zone 7b) just like last year. This year, when I removed the pine straw and landscape fabric I found mushy, wet, rotting stumps with some healthy tissue. I cut away the rotten areas with a sterile knife, removed the soggy mulch, added a mixture of in ground potting soil, compost and peat moss because the soil that used to cover the roots was gone. I mulched and recovered since we had more cold weather coming. Well, I uncovered it all the other day to let sunshine on the stumps and forgot to recover that night which was below freezing. Now I have sad looking, yellowing stumps and the green I had seen was gone too. Frozen. What can I do to save these precious plants? I wish I could include a picture. I'm hoping the corms aren't dead. Should I dig them up and then what? Thank you for your help!
