A calibrate extruder is essential to get the best print quality and dimensionality. I developed this simple extruder calibration tool to take the guess work out of calibration.It uses an inexpensive ($9US) digital caliper and a 3D printed fixture.

6min. in and a Q: Is your delta direct drive or bowden? looks like the latter. If so, can this be done w/bowden setup?

djC653 works perfectly with Bowden also. Position at the entry of the filament to the extruder.

Can somebody remind me how to get to the Marlin FW on my printer via Arduino IDE please so I can finish recalibrating my extruder. I can't seem to get an answer anywhere.

You the man. :-) BTW, how much travel are you getting from your little jig? Got mine printed and assembled and the most I can move it is 104.4mm. So if I'm over-extruding by more than 4.4mm then I guess I'm gonna hear some slippage :-) I think I should be ok. I have my esteps set already but was dying to try this as I love precision and this is one fine way to skin a cat. Hated marking up the filament with a sharpie and trying to measure etc. This is an awesome idea!

I get about 115mm travel. Why are you only getting 104.4? That doesn't make sense to me. I can extend the body but I thought 115mm was more than enough!

Well the top of my calipers are seated all the way inside the top of the jig. I suppose I could lift it out some and then set it. That should allow a bit more travel. The sliding thumb screw on the calipers eventually butts into the top. I think I can squeeze a bit more travel out of it but if its not secure into the jig then the top feels insecure. I think this will vary depending on the length of the heads on different calipers. One I'm using now has a 61mm body (LCD) not counting the thumb screw thing.

Ah, so the issue is the length of the depth gauge on your caliper? Would you like a longer unit to print and if so, how much longer? I can make the edit and post it for you.
