I love your dedication to the testing and research but I have one small correction regarding what you said about Genshin and Vulkan API; genshin impact does NOT use Vulkan by default. It runs OpenGL, which you can confirm by loading GPUWatch application found in the developer settings and then launching Genshin Impact. You can force the game to load the Vulkan API by modifying the game's data but from my tests on S23+ which has sd8g2 it actually performs worse compared to OpenGL, which again might be an issue with snapdragon itself so it might actually benefit s24 with exynos a bit more.
Hello, could i suggest you do these tests with gestures activated instead of navigation buttons because at times when the phone gets hot the animations for the gestures lag heavily and i'd wish to see if thats an issue that is still present on the exynos variant, thanks @@techmo2020
Thank you for making this video, i have seen all your comparison. I have s24 exynos, in the past month i noticed alot of heating. But now it seems to perform better after the march update. N I do hope samsung is watching your videos 😊
Fantastic comparison. Unlike other channels, your videos are not about your 'personality', it's about your professional approach to testing. Really appreciate you taking your time to help us with answers to the real questions. 10/10!
You are the only RU-vid reviewer with an in-depth comparison for these devices. I like your videos a lot, and you've just got a subscription, sir. Thanks for your hard work.
@@alexandruciordas4941 techmo posted a video Ultimate battery comparison Exynos S24 vs Snapdragon S24 vs S23. On that 7:17 mark he does a 4g drain test
Your videos are so much better than litterally every "mainstream" reviewer out there. All of them only conclude things based on benchmarks and extreme simplifications of reality. Also, how does these phones perform in video calls (whatsapp/fb messenger, for example)?
Based on my tests, the video call Performance on 5G is very poor on Exynos. It overheats and lose the connection often, on WiFi it's ok. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dN3pWkDghPg.htmlsi=w6NvSfpDT5xhIoa7
Nice follow-up comparison! The app layout for real-time data is perfect for this type of comparison video. Did you also notice that the exynos variant had consistently higher RAM utilization in all games tested? Very interesting...
Very informative, but you're slightly biased towards the Snapdragon: 1- at 1:44 you say Exynos is almost 32c when it's 31.7, understandable no big deal, but at 2:44 you say Snapdragon is at 38c , when it's 38.8??? 2- when Snapdragon ahead in tests it's "ahead" but when Exynos gets ahead in something it's "in the margin of error" ??? still respect what you do, at least you're better than every paid YTer out there and you do in depth comparisons cheers
It seems the best solution for the Exynos... if you game on mobile internet just use 4G. In my area here in South Florida, the speed difference won't be noticeable, as you're getting up to 100mbps, while 5G gets up 400mbps, but most times, you're going to see speeds below (T-Mobile) 100mbps on both 5G and 4G. So it's probably not worth the headache.
Great effort, bravo. I have two question: 1-) Why 5G logos different at each phone? 2-) While you play game at one, how much time is another phone waiting aside?
Thanks. For the second question, I wait until both phones cool down to 24-26. Then I play on one while the other is waiting, then play with the second. Later I'll again wait until both cool down to go to the next test.
Really another great test! You're doing an excellent job again, my friend. You explain the Exynos question marks very well. I wish you success in what you do.
1:54 Exynos losing battery faster than Qualcomm..In terms of Minute basis 7:28 Biggest difference here..Blazing temperature with losing battery faster is Exynos
@@pranavjsit's not, if you ever overclocled you'd know that it has the voltage cranked up way higher than snapdragon that's why is less efficient, and because of that in 1 year the silicon will degrade and it will start to lag, maybe even get memory errors and apps will start to crash. Never buy exynos!
Exynos is getting better generation by generation and the best part is amd gpu is also working well. For those who hate exynos (owners or not) just see mediatek. There was a period when mediatek also suffered from thermals and poor gpu performance.but now see dimensity lineup. Its just a matter of time..
Glad the Exynos is catching up! Although the s24 still doesn't seem worth it to me, since it's barely any better than the s23. One thing I'd point out about your vid(s) is about the fact that you often mention being a scientist. I know it's meant to add an extra layer of assurance regarding the quality of your tests, but it more often than not feels like an out of place flex. Not that I'm even against flexing, but it does throw me off a little bit.
If you have a phone that is barely one year old then I'd say there is NEVER any reason to upgrade ;). Besides that, the CPU and GPU of the S24 have the usual performance boost compared to last gen I guess.
My exynos barlely heats up here in delhi outside temps peak to 40 exynos does amazing despite between on 5g 60 % of time with dual sim it breaks 7 to 8 hr sot
@@lggr2261 i don't know which part of delhi has 40°. Maximum temperature for upcoming week is 36° itself and average is 34. Wait for may and june then i will ask u again
Consideration is a Exynos Samsung did a great job, the big difference could be the battery consumption, but in comparison that the issues that kind of processor had before it feels only like a detail.
Thank you for these Snapdragon vs Exynos videos. I'll keep my S23 until the Snapdragon chip is available in Europe again. Samsung is so disrespectful 🤮
I purchased the Samsung Galaxy S24, and it has been an excellent choice. I have not experienced any overheating or throttling issues, and I am very pleased with the device's performance. However, I understand that some people are still skeptical about the Exynos processor, and I agree that it is important to consider the long-term performance of the device. As of right now, many apps are not optimized for the Exynos processor, so it is using its raw power, which is already quite impressive. In fact, the Exynos processor is actually more powerful than the 8th generation 2 processor. Therefore, I believe that my S24 will only become stronger over time as more apps are optimized for the Exynos processor.
I think overall we can just dumb it down to exynos being 5 - 8% slower/worse in almost all categories across the board compared to snapdragon. Overall I don't think it's to much of a difference to worry your head over.
good to know new update could improve the performance of exynos, but this also contradict with your previous video saying update won't able to improve the performance...(which i'm glad that you are wrong since my country only offer exynos variant)
Thanks for your time. I think this is no real scenario for all of us: all day gaming. Maybe using social media, browser, music, and 10 min of video is probably the best routine for most t of all. Please consider creating a video using a similar scenario using all this apps
Hey Mo! Thank you for this video. I’m still thinking about importing a S24+ from US to Sweden. How would the difference in network bands between the regions affect mobile coverage and battery life?
S24+ Snapdragon is a beast. The bands work for me in Austria but from what I've heard the Hong Kong Variant bands are much more compatible to EU ones. Downside is lack of esim support.
I'm not sure about high tier exynos chips, but midrange exynos is amazing in a54. Good battery life, great pictures, lag has been fixed. Would recommend galaxy a3x and a5x series
Fingers crossed for exynos 2500 to figure out how to do 5G. There are rumors all versions will use 2500 so im hopeful. Turkey doesnt even have 5G so this is pretty good lol
Whilst it's clearly behind the Snapdragon variant, it's a decent effort on Samsung's side. I personally run mine on lightmode and I still find it overkill for most of the stuff I throw at it. Hopefully, we won't have another E990, E2200 fiascos any time soon. Those two chipsets literally destroyed two generations. I'm also curious how much the process difference affects the modem performance.
Wonderful approach, thank you @techmo2020. It looks like you've identified the 5G modem as a key factor for the differences between the chipsets. I wonder if this could imply a trade-off in battery for faster 5G speed? Considering the 5G peak download speeds reported by each manufacturer, Snapdragon and Exynos reach up to 10 Gbps and 12 Gbps, respectively (a difference of ~ 20%). Could this contribute to the battery drain differences observed in 5G testing?
Hi @techmo2020. Firstly, thank you for your time and the valuable insights you've shared. I hope it's okay if I suggest something different. Considering that 5G isn't universally available yet, I was thinking of focusing on a 4G usage scenario. I don't want to bug... but since your previous tests highlighted the 5G modem's significance in chipset differences, exploring s24's performance in a 4G context could provide additional insights for many users. What do you think?
Thanks for sharing the video! Have you noticed any improvements in camera colors and white balance with the S24 Exynos? Has the battery life improved when using cellular 4G and some 5G connectivity?
I'm curious for someone who doesn't play games at all, just regular usage: social media and music/videos with mixed 4G/WiFi, how much of a difference will be in the battery. I disable 5g and use 4g on all my phones so it drains less battery. P.S. I am wondering whether to buy S24 or Xiaomi 14. I like one ui more than hyperOS but Xiaomi 14 has better hardware (8gen3, bigger battery, way faster charging, better cameras as far as I saw in reviews)
I would say 10-15 percent based on my tests. For me S24 battery capacity is small, which means sometimes it doesn't last a day when I'm outside or traveling. Nothing wrong with it, it's just the way it's designed. Xiaomi 14 battery lasts longer. The camera is also better IMHO but at the end of the day Samsung support is unmatched.
I would like a 4g section to be included in the testing. As of now if i would play outside with 5g on exynos im busted but maybe setting the phones to 4g Shows a smaller difference there?
5G is expected to wreck Exynos but what about 4G? I don't use 5G on my iPhone too, all because of the battery usage. Are these two comparable in 4G only scenarios?
I am soo confused between choosing S23+ and S24+. I am torn between great chipset and network performance(mostly i will be using 5g) with S23 and upgraded battery, ai feautures and ltpo display on s24+. For me the primary concern is battery life and camera and I do light gaming sometimes. So, please uplaod a video between s23+ vs s24+.
Thanks for the follow up. I've now subscribed. It seems for regions selling only exynos variants that some improvement has come with latest update. My carrier doesn't provide 5g and 5g coverage is rubbish in regional Australia where I live. I'd love to see what difference in battery life is with 5g disabled? Also signal strength of Snapdragon modem versus exynos?
Thank you so much. Please do a similar comparision for S23 vs S24 exynos as this will be a concern for most. As most people who don't want to buy s24 go for s23.
@@mettasrikanth5274 Thanks. What model you recomend to buy? Battery and camera is priority. I stoll use S10, great phone, only problem is battery. Need to charge 2 times per day. I use hard phone. Never gaming, but wifi youtoobe almost nonstop.
@@janisspalvins677 s23 has small battery but it will last you all day unless you play games. 6+ hours Screen on time. If it is not enough and budget is not a limit then you should go for s23+ or ultra
Thank you very much for your videos. They are very good. I would like to know if the US version normally receives updates and security patches in Europe
The thing is this is only gaming. Chuck rendering photo tests, RU-vid tests, standby tests etc etc SD takes the lead. Its been consistently showed that SD version 15% extra left over while the exynos was dead.
Thanks for the topics that others wouldn't explore. One of the best channels to get correct information. Is the grainy issue on the s24 series screen resolved for new batches?
The general consensus is that although the Exynos is definitely not as good as the SD8G3, for many people that will not be an issue. It still feels wrong to ship an inferior chip to some regions but I understand that Samsung lost a many billion dollar contract to TSMC and that destroyed its profits and they are now having to save their fab business. So, I have to agree that is what they have to do. Having suffered the inequity of previous Exynos chips which were terrible, it is good to see that it is clearly not as bad with the 2400. Though that is feint praise as I would still rate the A17Pro, SD8G3 and Dimensity ahead of this. A 10% difference is significant in battery life. The modem on the Exynos clearly is inferior and is why Apple signed a new contract with Qualcomm despite having their own inferior modem. They decided consumer first. That seems the main issue and I am not sure that Samsung can ever compete with Qualcomm in that regard. So the moral of the story, light or heavy user, buy the Snapdragon version if possible or alternatively the S23 Ultra instead of the S24+ to avoid the Exynos, as the SD8G2 remains competitive with brilliant thermals, efficiency and performance. I read that v1 of the 3nm Exynos still has a yield
It's OK to use Exynos in some regions, if it makes the phones cheaper, but no, Samsung ships Trash Exynos 2400 in regions like India and also prices the phones higher than rest of the markets! I'm using 12R and it's way better than S24 Exynos will ever be!
nice joke, the Oneplusplus 12R is way worse ad won't be never better compared to the S24 Exynos, only in price. Oneplus still shipsTrashQualcomm socs.@@rrrr3666
I try to go out very bad eperience with exynos in 5g the battery is very not good not one day with s24 plus and very vey very hot in my experience SAMSUNG say me don't taking exynos wth this problem...with s23 not problem all is OK and after i have S24 8gen3 it is very very very better than EXYNOS2400 and now i have another s24 plus with8gen3 and not problem in temperature and i can used in one day no charging. It is the night and the day= EXYNOS2400/8gen3. I don't anderstand liking exynos because BIG PROBLEM TEMPÉRATURE AND BATTERY VERY BAD in 5g! thanks video it is french feedback i prefere s23 8gen2 with s24 exynos. The best is s24+ 8gen3 the best but s23 is better than exynos s24 and very better. Friend working thanks !
Is it normal to loose 35% in 2.5 hours with light use? Do i have a faulty phone? Just used it as hotpot for macbook and had video call without camera on. My battery life sucks. It drops to 94% in 10-20 min after fully charging And it drops like 10-15% in an hour. I have to charge 2 to 3 times per day meanwhile my moms cheap phone with 5000 mah works for 1.5 to 2 days without charge.
a quick question since i saw your battery drain test of s24(sd), S24(exynos), s23(sd), since im also from Austria, I wanted to ask if the s24(sd) works just fine here or if there are any problems with the networks/bands? since seemingly in your video you were able to be connected to both 4G and 5G without issues? (also on what site did you import the s24?)
Just got the s24 exynos. I do get a lag here and there but overall is smooth. It does heat up to 43°C when just scrooling on instagram and social media and sometimes it just runs cool. I just dont like that it heats up
guy stop complaining about heat problems with ur phones or it gets too hot to keep in hand i got s21 with exynos and it was also heating a bit and to that solution came silicone case with a fur inside it helps a lot
I would like to know if the snapdragon version works correctly in Spain. Languages, security updates, software updates, LTE band, android auto, Google Pay, etc.?
Why do you make so many tests on 5g? Who plays games at max settings for a long time while being in tranzit? If you think about it, 5g is not available in places ohtside od big cities, if you are in a train for exemple, in tranzit, you either have 4g or wifi available if you want to play pubg. I'd rather watch some videos for exemple. Still, interesting results, though not close to a real life usage.
We should keep in mind that Exynos is Samsung exclusive so it's obvious that it'd have better optimisation on the other hand sd is like a open source... But still sd wins.... I don't have any problem with Exynos but imo if they are putting Exynos then they should reduce the price.... Samsung literally has everything... They manufacture, display, camera sensor, soc etc... i mentioned these because these are the most expensive part of a smartphone and when you have you manufacture everything then you can literally deliver the same product at a way cheaper price vs against someone who buys from third party... Like every single brand.... They purchase soc from Qualcomm, display from Samsung, camera from Samsung or Sony.... I hope you'll get my point... But Samsung is greedy...
Exynos sucks when it comes to connectivity. The performance is worse, the signal strength is always lower and it's also using noticeably more battery. No one cares about a 15% difference if it's only one thing, but when you add up all of them it paints a huge deal! On top of this, Samsung is asking the same price for Exynos as for Snapdragon and we are supposed to be ok with it?!
