99% of the Indian IT companies have toxic work culture, they are treating employees as slaves, but with a positive wording and unreachable & unending targets. To avoid job loss, employees are stretching till late nights & weekends also. IT companies are unable to give sick leaves also properly, due to billing loss in dollars from the client, they simply ask to postpone sick leave to weekend :) HR team in IT company & Government / Labour Ministry are sleeping since decades in India ? Govt is there just to grab income taxes which is unethical. in USA, beyond 8 hours of work on weekdays, 1.5x salary is paid for every hour, and for weekend work, they pay 2x per hour, forget about money, we are humans first of all, work culture is very important, it's very bad to die before 50s even in 21st century. in case of job loss, why govt is not paying unemployment benefits ? why govt is not paying atleast health insurance ? why IT companies have understaffing issue since ages, instead of giving high salary, they can recruit 2x employees at half the salary, isn't it ? It's a simple common sense. why CEOs are sleeping in IT companies ? Wouldn't they feel bad if their son/daughter dies ?

@@chandrasekhar5406 what you said about USA is not true with all employers. While the 1.5x is true for hourly employees like me, some like my husband are expected to work long hours and sometimes weekends without anything extra at all.

That guy was partially right.. not every IT company/ projects has toxic work culture.. some are doing 4-5 hours including chai+sutta break and getting paid for 9 hours..and we don't discuss about this... cause it's our comfort zone.. but yes some are doing 12-15 hours daily...so it varies...the death incident was really unfortunate.. management should find the root cause..

My office starts at 9 AM around but meeting are scheduled at 9PM too as US team comes late and expectations is to go to office work, come back in traffic 3 hours of traveling and work at night

Since a decade (10+ years) I have been working almost 17-19 hours daily without any break. I have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the work desk. And my work includes handling heated arguments with illogical and senseless people too. Its hard for me to understand how stress and work can kill someone. With complete regard to sad demise of the young girl and with my condolences to her family I would like to state that work never kills anyone. India is a democratic country and EY has a strict No-Fire rule, wherein the company rarely fires someone. So, if this girl would have simply showed up to office during office hours and not worked atall, still it would take 6-8 months for the company to fire her. This was enough time for her to find a suitable job. Willing working extra hours (for promotion or any other goal) cannot be attributed to the company. NOTE: I am aware EY has toxic work culture, but that is due to people working there , not because of the company policies. Think again , asking the chairman to resign would solve the problem created by people like Asst Mgr, Mgr, Consultant , Team Lead ?? Probably the chairman himself is against such practices .. did anyone check before axing the chairman ?

I witnessed two on job deaths in the last co. I was in..if I hadn’t quit I definitely would hv been the next as I remember the pain in the chest I felt one day only after looking at the amount of work(target) that I had to finish that day. The work load was tremendous for one person! It was a job for atleast 2 people! I had heard about one more death of a young guy in the team I was in a yr ago I joined he died on d road (heart attack) after EOD while going home. They put a lot of pressure on employees! The two guys that died on desk that we all witnessed were both 28yr old guys😢

This is a glaring example of intolerable stress that some people suffer in some corporations. There were several examples of young people in London a few years ago, of bright young people dying the untimely death syndrome, due to excessively hard work and long hours.

The very fact that EY India Chairman Rajiv Memani offers delayed response and does not even bother to express sorrow and convey condolences to the family shows how inhuman and shameless he is, who can only be described as Disgrace to Humanity. It is also very clear that he may have threatened EY Employees not to attend Anna's funeral thats the reason no one from EY attended funeral. The Corporates in India as part of their Social and Community Service should ban EY and teach them a lesson so that in future the employees are not victimised.

In India for sure reform is needed for working guideline..one of the root cause is over population which is resulting in unemployment and most the people fear loosing their job if they go against or say no their managers. IT and corporate employees not only for big 4 are working like slaves now
