Eydie Gormé on the Tonight Show (1966)

Eydie Gormé giving a rousing performance of "I Wanna Be Around" on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in 1966.
This is a very rare video for two reasons: First, because most footage of Johnny Carson's first ten years at the Tonight Show is not existing anymore. And secondly, because this is one of the first home video recordings ever. So the quality is a lot better than with the kinescope technique mostly used back then.
This clip doesn't originate from me. One user uploaded it here last year but sadly, it was deleted after a while. If that user is still around: I hope it's OK for you that the clip is up here again. Otherwise, please contact me. The same applies to the RU-vid administrators and NBC and/or Carson Productions. ;-)
I just thought since this video can't be found anywhere else and since it also shows such a brilliant performance (of one of my favourite songs, by the way), it shouldn't be left aside here on RU-vid.

For those so-called singers of today, sit down, pull out pencil and paper, and listen to someone who's about to take you to school. Eydie Gorme, what a voice! RIP Lovely Lady...

I was so fortunate to see Frank at the Civic arena in Pittsburgh. Crown Royal was the sponsor. Steve and Eydie opened the show and they did some trios with Frank. Eydie had a few solos, and I can't tell you how much I loved her. She stole the show. When she passed Steve said something like.. The world has lost the greatest female pop vocalist, my lost is unimaginable. He used that word, unimaginable. Not hard for me to understand. I can listen to Eydie any time or place. Many times with a tear in my eye. Harkening back to better times. Performances like this will never be equaled, not closed to equaled.

this is what singing really is every note is musical no strain right on pitch and can sustain a note --on pitch every note is musical that is a real singer
@humphreyblogut672

There are idiots who think that she difficulty singing on-pitch consistently because of the purposely flat notes she shouts on Blame it on the Bossa Nova. She obviously has no problem hitting each note perfectly whenever she wants. What a brilliant artist.

Eydie wasn't on Barbra's level (vocally) and certainly didn't have Streisand's charisma which catapulted her in becoming the biggest movie star and all around entertainer of the 20th and probably 21st centuries. ... but IMO, she was the second best belter in the business (Judy notwithstanding).
