Are Atropine eye drops the next eye floaters cure? Learn how Atropine drops work and how you can try it for yourself! ///// Full explanation about floaters and other floater treatment options 👇 • What Causes EYE FLOATE...
Eye floaters commonly develop as we age and can be very bothersome for a lot of people. Thankfully, eye floaters often improve on their own, but if they don't improve and if surgery is not an option, then some doctors are turning to small dose atropine for help.
Atropine eye drops are typically used as a diagnostic and potentially a therapeutic medication for eye exams and a few eye diseases. Traditionally, it has not been used for treating eye floaters but t some doctors are prescribing a low dose 0.01% atropine to help improve floater symptoms.
Being that this is a newer trend and not fully widespread, many doctors may have not heard of using 0.01% atropine for floaters and even finding a compounding pharmacy can sometimes be a challenge, meaning it may be difficult to get low dose atropine.

About this video: Are you wondering how to get rid of eye floaters in your eyes? In this video, Joseph J. Allen, OD FAAO discusses a new treatment for eye floaters. Atropine eye drops for eye floaters is a newer trend that is being used and investigated by some eye doctors as a way to diminish eye floater symptoms. Although atropine may not be a true way to cure eye floaters, it still may prove to be an option for those who are very symptomatic. If you are seeing eye floaters and flashes in your vision, then this is the eye floaters video is for you.

I used 1% Atropine, 1 drop in each eye every day for 11 years for myopia as a child. Both parents had severe myopia. I never had any side effects except the dilated pupils. I used bifocals for reading and sunglasses when outdoors. I didn’t develop floaters until my mid 50’s. Interesting connection with the Atropine.

Not sure for Atropine, but whatever eyedrop the doctors used when they examined my eyes indeed made the floaters disappear for a day or so along with the usual dilating pupils.

I’ve had eye footers for about 15 years. They’ve gotten progressively worse. I have just about every type known in both eyes. They do affect my vision on occasion. And you cannot just ignore them if they are severe. That is something I don’t think many eye docs understand. I saw a prominent ophthalmologist for them about 12 years ago, and he told me there’s nothing that could be done. At least he was nice and compassionate and didn’t think I was crazy, but he offered no help or hope. I tried the pineapple method for about a month and saw minimal improvement, but for reasons too complicated to discuss here, I had to stop. So maybe I’ll try that again. Or atropine. I don’t have the money for the laser, and I’m not sure I’d want to try it yet either.

I've had detachment of my vitreous body in my right eye in August 2019, I was 20 years old. I've begun to have a lot of eye floaters. It was a big shock for me. I got depressed I didn't know what to do. It was very painful. So I went to my doctor and she prescribed me 0.1% Atropine to use once per week at night, one drop in each eye. I have been using the drops for a little more than a year and I've had amazing results. Atropine relaxes the ciliary muscle and that relieved my pain. It also helped me see less eye floaters, now I barely see any. I believe it somehow sharpened my vision and stabilized my diopter because in a recent check up with my doctor she told me I've never been better during my eye test. I think I only got one number wrong. I was pleasantly surprised so was she. I'm studying Pharmacy, this is my 4th year now and we have a compound Pharmacy at our Faculty, that's where I have been able to purchase my Atropine eye drops. A few weeks ago I even learned how to make them. So to every doctor who hesitates to prescribe the drops to a patient - don't. These drops helped me so so much, they saved my life, and my mental health. They also made my condition a little bit better.

Wow, I wonder how you got PVD at a very young age. I have a traumatic PVD in my 40's after being punched and I'm struggling with all the floaters and dry eye. I'm very interested in trying atropine, the problem is most eye drops irritate my dry eye. So what am I to do? I think for those that have PVD like us at a younger age, we need to look at vitreous reformation and hydrogels.

For everyone who has eye floaters and are currently in panic: keep on reading. I first encountered floaters when I was about 19 but somehow they moved out of my field of vision, then at 27 I suddenly had a bunch of them. At that time I also had bad anxiety, stress etc and I couldn’t stop looking for the floaters that it became a daily obsession. But: I overcame it. It WILL get better! Try to find the core of where the anxiety comes from, maybe with a little more help like therapy or someone you trust to talk to. Strangely, I still have floaters but I barely notice them because I’m not scared of them anymore. The mind is the magic! If I can do it, you can do it too!

I had a bit of encouragement when I tried the pineapple suggestions and I believe I saw a minor improvement. Now without focusing on the floater I began taking a multivitamin, an iron supplement and B complex. I would say its been about a year and a half and i realize that the floater is about 10% what it was. I was actually looking for it one day and couldn't make it come back . Obviously I could provide a lot more detail but as an overview that's all I did so ignore or draw your own conclusions.

I wish there was a cure for these awful things that didn't involve eye surgery!! I just can't abide the thought of that. It's like my worst nightmare. Thankfully I don't usually notice my floaters much unless I'm looking at a bright background on my computer or if I'm outside in daylight. I do have this one though that is like a very dark speck in my right eye in the far upper outside part of my vision. Sometimes I think it's a wasp flying toward me (it even has little wings!). I have a phobia of wasps so that's always fun especially in public LOL! Please keep getting the word out that we need more research on how to get rid of these things easily and safely! Eye doctors don't seem to think they are a big deal but I assure you that to some of us they very much are! To be so common it is amazing that attention on this issue is almost nonexistent.

Glad you have a sense of humor about it. I have the big fibrous clumpy strands dancing the tango. I suffer from anxiety and depression because of these floaters, since 2018, due to a PVD in both eyes. Cannot get used to them. I am also an amateur photographer. I had vitreolysis on my left eye that greatly reduced my floaters, but my right eye turned bad, and the doctor that did the vitreolysis moved to another state. Nobody will touch my right eye now, as I developed glaucoma and have a lot of other stuff going on such as CNV. There is something like a limited vitrectomy, less invasive and risky than a regular one. I am considering that if they will take me. In the mean time, maybe I give atropine another try. I used it once, but my eye dilated more than I expected. It unsettled me a bit.

As far as visual astronomy is concerned, dilated pupils are interesting mainly for deep sky objects. If you are a Moon & Planets fan, you ought to work with exit pupils always below 2 mm (IOT minimize aberrations), leading your sight to deal with floaters again...Notwithstanding the hazard of exposing your retinas to bright light through the years with atropine side effects. The only "cheap" and safe solution for people dealing with floaters is basically purchasing a bigger scope !

My past eye care specialists used dilatations on me to determine my eyes are healthy, but floaters continue to remain in my field of vision. I have floater issues for over twenty years, and now at age 45 my floaters are becoming difficult to live with. I don't smoke, drink alcohol, or use any illegal substances. I don't have diabetes, high-blood pressure, or cancer. 20-years-ago I did get a right-eye injury which caused short-term inflammation and bright flashes of light out of the corner of my eye which ended quickly over time. My anxiety and stress have reached a point in my life where I'm on disability from teaching. I fear eye surgery due to the info you shared, my own research, and my cousin's eye medical suggestions. I live in Southern California, aside from retinal attachment surgery, the results here for eye surgery scares me. My grandfather, who has cancer, high-blood pressure, glaucoma, and other aliments at age 92 has shown me how serious eye issues can be. I would like to nothing for other ten years, but my condition is blocking me from working and is affecting my sleeping. Now that my doctor has given me all the blood test a patient can get in one year, I will discuss with her your Atropine suggestion, but am I considering all the right options for my problem? I've recently discovered that prescribed meds for mental issues like anxiety don't have the best affect/effects on me resulting in sleepless nights plus other minor issues of concern. If Atropine or hydraulics is the solution how much improvement in my vision could I get? Currently, I'm also asking God for help.

I use only one drop of this mix in each eye. It takes about 1 hours to start noticing the effects and it lasts about 5 hours for me. Some people use it before going to sleep to notice the effect the next day, so it depends on each person. It's a huge relief. I still want a definitive cure though. I’ve noticed that my eye floaters in my right eye is connected to what I eat there’s days where I don’t see it and other day where I do see it. Ive also been curious about this because I was talking to my Aunt who is diabetic and asked her because she recently began to lose her eye sight and asked questions about seeing eyefloaters and she confirmed that is what she sees. I connected one and two together considering that eyefloaters is connected to our nutrition. That being said I’ve had them floaters for about 3-4years since 16/17 . It wasn’t until now 20 that I’ve looked into nutrition for some help. Completely changed my diet up went from High Processed carbs to higher fats (Keto) plus doing research on Vitamins(A,K,D) + Nitric Oxide (Beets,CACAO powder, Spinach) plus I’ve also observed that eating starch bread pasta makes the eyefloaters move faster because it spikes insulin levels when your insulin levels are under control they move much slower and are less visible. Also learn if your insulin RESISTANT and many of us are because of what we eat your goal is to become insulin SENSITIVE taking cinnamon and ginger after eating HEALTHY CARBS(Sweet potatoes oatmeal etc) will help you become insulin sensitive that way your bodies insulin levels don’t go out of control. A big suggestion to those eat your vegetables because they contain a lot of vitamins that we don’t get in our diets if you got to supplement do it that way you protect your eyes in the long run hope this helps it’s what I’ve done and it helps a lot. Also wear Polarized glasses because I noticed the light causes more eyefloaters it’s crazy but if you look at the reflection light from a car or metal it makes your eyefloaters worse. Hope this helps if you really want to get more detailed info look up Thomas Deluer+ Dr Berg there really the best at what they do I forgot to mention working out aswell and staying fit helps with eyefloaters .Hope this helps someone

Forgot to mention 16/24 fasting helps a lot and 24 hours fasts to let’s your body rest also take fats+protein in the morning and protein + carbs later when the sun goes down because you see eyefloaters less when it’s dark vs the morning this really helps

I agree that nutrition has a lot to do with it but keto isn't a cure. I always got mild floaters, since I was a child. I'm 50 now and been on keto for 3 years, which has cured my type II diabetes and Hugh blood pressure. Recently I started taking a supplement to try and help my hair grow, called saw palmetto. This has been the only change to my diet. It first made my skin break out in pimples and then I notice a stark increase in floaters... and worst some of them were black! I got really nervous and went to the opthamologist. He told me that any supplements or foods that mess with collagen production, either increasing or decreasing, can create more floaters. Hormones can also cause it (in your moms case blood sugar has a big effect on hormones). The floaters I had that were black he said were very close to my retina. Apparently the closer they are to the retina darker they appear. He said it's very likely the saw palmetto triggered them and if I stop taking it, which I did, they MIGHT go away. Time will tell! But it's very true that what goes into your mouth can create floaters in your eyes and probablyother problemsas well. I dont see that putting drops into your eyes that cause your eyes to have MORE sun exposure are a good thing!!

Try eating a few slices of canned beets every day. It’s no cure but seems to make them less noticeable. A can lasts me most of the week. At least it’s cheap and beets are good for you. I find that contact lenses make the nasty things far more visible than glasses 👓 which sucks😩

I had a recent sinus infection that affected my right eye. I was working out and got dizzy, next thing, my eye began to droop. After days, I began to see floaters.. and 1 globby yellowish looking floater that has now gone in my field of vision. Went to the eye Dr. tests surprisingly came out good, but he saw a swollen vessel that had possibly caused that..

I took the big floater spider like after covid. Coughing and eyes bloodshot. One optician said this often happens after a virus. Long story short. They checked me for b12 I am on shots every 2 months initially it was evey 3. Cause the big Nice say once size fits all. I begged for more frequent shot. Wailed at Doc I get them 2 months now. Every aspect improved but I think a more tailored approach is required to that b12 dosage. I do eat practically Carnivore. After years of treating meat as poison. I think waiting until I was in my fifties to be proactive was a mistake. Fingers crossed It continues to improve.

Here's how u do it. Schedule an eye appointment. They always have an assistant dialate your eyes. When she gets done doing the standard eye pressure, and what are you here for conversation, when she leaves the room , take every bottle you can find. When you get home, add tap water to dilute it. 50 - 50 ratio. Been doing this for 5 years. Usually I always get at least 2 bottles, some are full , some are not, which is perfect to create your mix. You want to have one bottle with mix, and the others ready to maintain mix. Don't lose em, cuz they're gold.

Ive been diagnosed with a foveal cyst in my left eye, I had also been diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes. The cataracts were diagnosed after the foveal cyst. The foveal cyst is very annoying, after having cataracts removed and having the lens replaced my vision improved dramatically. The vision in my left eye is much sharper the problem is that my vision is distorted as it was before cataract surgery. My vision in that eye is wavy. What I have difficulty with is that even though my vision in that eye is much clearer I find that for smaller print I can't always see all the print, think of it this way if the number 111 is in front of me I may see 11 instead. I have to close my left eye and see with my right to see the missing number, but it is also with letters. Sometimes if I turn my head slightly I can see all that's in front of me. A retina specialist explained it this way, that because I have a cyst on my retina that spot is gone and that is why I can't see whatever my eye focuses on that spot. I liken it to looking at a TV screen and you see 1 tiny little white spot, it's a pixel that no longer will have an image and you can't recover it, so you'll always have and empty spot there. Can you please do a video on this condition and answer if there is anything that can be done. Oh I've also been diagnosed with high high pressure in my eyes, my eye doctor says that I have extra thick corneas and he thinks that is why I haven't gotten glaucoma, as a prevention he has me using latanaprost eyedrops, my eyes feel fine except for the cyst, and so far there has not been any indication of glaucoma, peripheral exams are always excellent. Thank you for your videos and concern.

I used it once, as the doctor who did vitreolysis on me had them available for purchase, but for some reason, I reacted quite strongly and my eye dilated more than I felt comfortable with. I still have them in my medicine cabinet, but I am a little more hesitant now. It was the 0.01 % for sure. I watched this channel's video discussing the one study about floaters and pineapple consumption. I owe you a debt of gratitude, Dr Eye Health. I figured modest amounts of pineapple couldn't hurt, right? I eat fresh pineapple (about 1/4 pineapple/day including the tart core). I take 500mg bromelain enzyme supplement when I can't find good fresh pineapple, (which is about 80% of the time.) Subjectively it seemed to help my visual clarity immensely. The first 3 months gave the most noticeable improvement because I gradually regained the ability to read out of my really bad floater eye. (I read and write a lot for work.) I was facing a grim future of blurry cellophane distortion vision. But now I feel so happy. I had seen my eye doc about my floaters, and see him annually.

"eye floaters are annoying. . " . . . . yeah, no, i don't find them annoying. I find them terrifying. when i go outside and see how many i have and knowing that these are cells being torn off my retina and that they could signify other serious eye issues. . .or they could mean nothing at all, be totally benign. if you see a sudden increase in floaters, it could be a retina detachment. . but sometimes it's more subtle and you go a long time and don't see any new ones, but grabually over time, you might see more, but then you're not sure if they are new ones or if they are just ones you never noticed before because they only become noticeable in certain environments, like outside looking at the sky, then you see them all. . and then being in your 40's or 50's and everyone gets a thing called vitreous detachment, which causes new floater and usually it's harmless, but sometimes it tears the retina and that needs to be repaired with surgery. or you might need a victrectomy, and that is an invasive and risky surgery, but it does clear up all the floaters, but the recovery process is hellish. . so yeah, eye floaters are terrifying
