My wife and I have been to over 30 Idaho lookouts and visited with many lookout people. One of our favorite was John Crawford who I believe was on Indian Hill lookout for at least 33 years. That looked like John over the fire finder in one shot. Anyone Know? Great memories, makes me want to go back for more.
I was the last person to man Arctic Point Lookout, on the Frank Church Wilderness, in 1995. Recently the Forest Service put out a video about restoring the lookout. Was great to see it brought back to its original condition. This is a great video. Thanks for posting it.
I hiked to Arctic Point after a Salmon River dropff 5 years ago. There is cell service at the lookout! The FS wanted to restore the ground cabin and called me for pics. I sent all my pics and they used them to plan the restoration.
@@lukechanner503 Thanks for participating. I have a lot of great memories from my time there. Best job I ever had. That was quite a hike up from the river, I used to be able to see and hear the raft tours camping at Corn Creek. Thanks for commenting.
Interesting history of the early lookouts. Greetings from Nashville. I was on a quest to visit all 50 states by the age of 50 and I finished ahead of time with your state being my last but not least. I spent ten days there, staying in Boise, but going north through I think Payette forest and lake and east to Twin Falls, Sun Valley, Craters of the Moon, an ice cave, and all the sights in the Boise area including the Anne Frank memorial and the Basque Museum.❤
