I respect your usually very objective reviews. The Wyze has motion and door sensors which can be integrated with the camera for a very reasonable price. The Wyze comes with free 14 day 12 second cloud storage event clips. The Wyze optional cloud plan is $1.49/month/camera. The video quality and audio on my Wyze cams seems much better than your setup. Good to have competition, but I would not conclude the EZVIZ is cheaper and better than the Wyze. Thanks for your review - keep them coming!
I opened the Pandora’s box on this one...don’t worry I love my wyze products too..and I intentionally stated that it is better than the wyze cam... but I was planning to put a question mark at the end..but eventually I didn’t.. as you can see on the daytime video.. I don’t like the lens flare on the wyze..plus their 15fps recording..the ezviz has smoother video 20fps. But, wyze is now an ecosystem which is good.
@@LifeHackster I have one on order to check out - Wyze is starting to have support problems and the cam are developing small nagging problems. Hoping the Ezviz works out as I really want to get away from Wyze.

Just wanted to let you know @LifeHackster that I replaced my bug-plagued Wyze cams with these Ezviz C1C's thanks to your in-depth video showing just about everything that needs to be shown. I left this video with all the information I needed to make an informed decision. After using the cameras myself for a couple weeks, I have been very pleased and have not regretted my purchase for a second. Now my Wyze cams are paperweights, but at least they didn't cost much. it's sad that the Wyze cams don't work properly. But for the same price, the C1C's work flawlessly. Go figure. I guess that's what happens when Wyze concentrates on bringing a huge plethora of products out that they will never be able to support them all. Instead of supporting what they already have. That shows what kind of business practice they want to have. Thanks again for this excellent, well documented video that shows all of the features in action instead of just a brief "review". Nice to see this review - I already have 4 of these cameras (bought over a few months) around my house. I don't use the cloud save feature, but have an SD card in each one. They are excellent value for money and I intend to expand my collection with a couple more in the future. I'm even considering the NVR at some point!
Looks like a decent camera but I’m sticking with wyze. I’m all in with them and have every item (cameras, bulbs, sensors and lock) they’ve sold so far 😂
Yep, the smart home integration from Wyze gets my vote too. Although it looks like a lot of companies have seen the light from Wyze and are trying to compete on their terms (price). EZVIZ also has a video doorbell and plug, but no sensors or door lock.
Nice review LifeHackster but I’ll keep my Wyze set up for now. This Ezviz seems to be a good initial competitor and will no doubt drive the Wyze team even harder. Wyze has much more to offer than just its camera or other products and their USA based customer service is superior. Ezviz had to reduce their price (as seen on Amazon) by 38% to even get close to Wyze pricing. Makes me wonder why Ezviz initially charged so much ... Wyze came in low to provide the best for its customers, I don’t think Ezviz company operates the same...
We bought both the Wyze 2 and the Ezviz hands down ezvis is my favorite!! and the app is so much easier to use and to set up than the Wyze 2 in my opinion. the magnet on Ezviz is extremely strong like 5x the strength of Wyze magnets. and so much Quicker in its notifications Wyze is goofy it warns you of an event after a 12 second delay when it’s finished recording but both are not very spy camera like they are bigger than I’d of liked but still serviceable
I use ezviz cams 3 inside and 2 outside and ezviz nvr box hidden in house so if burglars steal my £30 cams inside house the footage is backed up on my £70 nvr which records 24/7 all footage from all cams and HD drive is easy to install (4 screws) ...connects to google home and streams to phone and smart display on vocal request...job done....NVR is key here..though wyze is value for money and a very good product...choose wisely people good luck..great review matey !
@LifeHacker. I have used the Wyze Pan since your video on them a year ago. They are running today without any problem. We are gone alot and we depend upon them for security. As essential component is the free wifi by Wyze. One of the four surveils the back yard thru the bedroom window with IR turned off. It works fine as the lights you also recommended that stick on glass still work just fine too. And I also have six of those solar lights for the back yard. That system works very well and has even come on when a stray cat jumped over the wall one night. The addition wifi cost by the EZVIZ for my current six Wyze set up makes that choice unattractive on the long term. By the way, you did an excellent job on the EZVIZ and I would have done the upgrade had the wifi costs been the same. So we are staying with Wyze, perhaps they will offer an outdoor model later.
I went to the EZVIZ website to get some extra information. I couldn’t see anything to suggest that this camera will record continuously to the SD card. The Wyze Cam does. Reolink Cameras only records motion events to SD cards. I prefer 24/7 recordings.
Yes, it only records when it senses motion but with all pixel based motion detection, you can set it that it will start recording with the slightest change in the cameras field of view.
Ding Dong they do record 24/7? Maybe they should mention this on their website. They don’t even mention event recording there. A missed opportunity. I believe you, but won’t hand over my cash until I see it on their website.
Ding Dong if EZVIZ ever have a smart home ecosystem that can match Wyze, then based on the image quality alone EZVIZ will have my full attention for sure.
All your vids, reviews and comparisons are great. Extremely helpful in a market that is full of questionable information. I am pretty much locked in to what would suit my needs. That said, I believe these as powered indoor cams would fit the bill. I do have a couple questions. How well do they work facing outdoors through say a clear bay window or garage window? I have 2 that I would use in that application. Also, how about through a fine mesh screen? Thanks again for your helpful reviews.
You make nice videos and I just subbed, but I have suggestion. Please include "privacy concerns" information in these reviews, especially for these very cheap camera's from overseas. You've covered some of Rings debacles but this effects almost all manufacturers. I can assist and suggest some relatively direct/simple methods for viewing this information which I feel would only enrich your content further. Especially for those of us "in the know". Thanks.
a good thing to mention. once a camera is registered on one account, it will never be able to be used on another account, you can no longer sell it and be used by someone else
Good review. One item I am glad you tested was the audio recording quality. I have noticed the Wyze cams (I have two now) audio definitely is not that good compared to a generic Chinese cam I have or this unit you tested. Going forward I may change brand choice.
Man, I dig your reviews. You really did listed everything. The camera looks good but I guess we all got spoiled with free few days cloud service. I was wondering how is the privacy terms on this camera because YI kinda sucks. Also where this camera are pointing to, servers in china, U.S? IPs? Trustworthy?
Always like your reviews (more based on real use instead of just the specs on the box). I am going to have a look at these as replacements for my Wyze cams. Wyze products are becoming less and less attractive with the lack of support on the ongoing problems the cams are having (seems the firmware updates breaks more than they fix). Any idea when the new "person detection" cam might be for sale? Is it possible to state in your reviews if these cams have Windows software besides the Android software/
Does Wyze cams have memory card slots ? Are Wyze cams motion detection more reliable than EZVIZ ? I have EZVIZ cams, and motion detection is unreliable / useless as indicated in this review.
Wyze has micro SD card slot at the bottom. As to motion detection, with AI on wyze, it is more accurate and doesn’t give you a lot of false notifications.
Excellent review and really liked the comparison with the Wyze camera....which I have. Will certainly consider this camera as a solid option to replacing my current Wyze camera. Does it work with Alexa Show 8 and Fire Stick....? I currently can see my Wyze camera on my Alexa Show devices and Fire Stick (tv's)....Thanks in advance for your comments...
How does it look from a window looking outside ? I.E into a driveway or a garden from a Kitchen window? At night will it still be ok with the IR lighting ? Look forward to your response / help .
Thank you for your excellent channel. I've been following all your videos and I learned so much. I heard so many good reviews about the Wyze cam that I'm going to give it a shot. Also, I wanted to ask you, I just bought a new Ring Floodlight cam but I heard that can't be installed upside down because motion detection and other stuff will be adversely affected. Ring recommend to not install it because the sensor must be aligned parallel with the floor, but if it is installed upside down the camera doesn't reach the parallel level, only wall mounting, but my previous floodlight is a ceiling mounting. What do you think?
Honestly, It is better but not cheaper. If you look on their website, It's actually $20. Still, It's technically better than the pretty good Wyze camera.

Thanks for the review! Due to the fact that Wyze requires you to reinstall all your equipment and set up a new account when you change your email address, I will check out your other recommendations. No problems at all with Nest or Reolink and changing the email address!

Watched a load of your reviews and finally decided to buy this. I will be using it to look through my window overwatching the cars but doing the trick of no IR and using outdoor lights. Do you know if you can view the EZVIZ cameras remotely, as in, not on the same WiFi network?
Yes, it can as long as your phone is connected to the internet via mobile or WIFI. You can be on the other side of the globe and you will still get notifications, and check out the live view.

Based on your recommendation just got mine today. I was having the same problem you had on one of my Wyzecams. Very dark IR picture. One thing, though, I'd like for it to come on in live view when I open the app.

Have you ever heard of Nelly security cameras? They released a no subscription video doorbell and have several cameras that look like they would be good. Not budget cameras, but I'd like to see how they perform compared to something like reolink.
hi, great work for a detailed review. i just got some question: 1. today is the camera still working fine? do you experience a big delay or some issue when viewing live from your phone? 2. does it have desktop app? for pc and mac? for a little background story, i am already using ipcam from xiaomi brand which is xiaofang (the old and new 1s version). And both of them suffer the same issue which is a very big delay on viewing live from phone (10-30seconds) and sometimes not working at all, just showing blank screen or network timeout and also since xiaofang need mi home app to connect and those apps not avaiable on pc/mac unless you are using emulator which will take a lot of cpu and ram to run. so i am using my old ipad mini as a live view or cctv monitor and most of the time the live view just hang... sometimes it can last all day (8-10 hours) sometimes just a few minutes live view and then hang.... that is way i am on quest on finding a cheap but at least do those 2 things in my question fine (do i asking too much?) okay then, thank you.

"Cheaper" my be technically correct at the moment you checked but if that is only true for the day you looked and we are talking $1 even at the currently higher-than-normal price on Amazon. Also Wyze includes 12 seconds web for free and their monthly is much cheaper so it is still cheaper to own for any web storage. EZVIZ monthly rates are even more expensive than Ring. Headline should be something more along the lines of 'at about the same price' as it feels click-baity as is.
Wow does have better pic quality.👌 But my wyze cams have absolutely no delay at all with live viewing. Instant. I know this is kinda off topic. But on your Wyze pan have you had any issues with two way audio? My freezes up and is very choppy. And it also always takes random snap shots of random times for no reason. Have you heard of this? what if i had electricity cut for 30 min >>> after electricity come back will it continue recording on memory card?? what also if i had wireless down >> will it continue record ??
Ezviz obvious better in video quality then wyze cam. Zmodo is what i have outdoor recording, but beside that i think Ezviz will be great for indoor cam.
I need to get a camera to keep an eye on what's up at home when away and be able to record said activity. Other than the setup shown in video, does the system require other setup to view remotely when not within home wifi range?
I really like your channel and your reviews...normally, but I think you aren't really thinking this one through. First, no cloud=no security. I can come to your house and take the camera with me...so where are the videos now? SDCards are always a plus, but not if it's your ONLY record. No equivalent of Wyze Sense. No listening for smoke/CO alarms. No Pan/Tilt version for $10 more? The subscription cost is higher than Ring's for way less functionality. You mentioned notification speed and then went on to say you don't use them?
Sorry to hear that..I know I will take flak for this because wyze has a following..but I showed the video quality on both and app opening times...don’t get me wrong, I like my wyze cams and especially they are now more of an ecosystem...now the comparison is for the cube wyze cam and not the wyze cam pan.. BTW, this camera can record to an NVR.. I might do another video just formally comparing the 2..will see.
Wyze all day. Nothing at all intriguing for me to switch from wyze and all the integration I have with them. And wyze just keeps getting better and better.
I've known ezviz for many years. All ezviz cameras I purchased eventually failed and need a timer for daily reboots to work. Their cameras are constantly sending all kinds of packets to China, not trusted. Also poor or non-existent firmware updates. Good review though, as always.
Hi there you never mention actually the real use of the SD card i check mine and the SD card is only use for ALL DAY recording and not the motion detection clip. Correct me if im wrong after your free trial expire the camera will only record all day via SD card.
Are there any limitations to access of footage or notifications if one doesn't subscribe to the cloud? More specifically, are you able to access the notifications and the timeline without subscribing?
EZVIZ has made a lot of app updates after this video but you can turn on notifications by going to the settings and turn on alarm notification and choose human shape or image change detection.
I’ve placed it on the window seal to look out onto my drive way. But there’s a light reflecting. How do I get the light to switch off ? So I can see the street outside especially at night ?
