I love how the F14 Tomcat wings swoop back like that. Makes it look even more intimidating. Like it's getting ready to get its prey. I don't think any current military fighter that's still in service can swoop back its wings like the Tomcat.
My father knew those guys,he was one of the best f14 mechanic on the Nimitz, my dad was part of admiral flight crew. Vf-41,he was also the youngest e-6 in whole fleet. There is a pic in the Nimitz book with my father squatting in air vent of f-14.
Of course I am partial to them, we flew them on the Big E in the 80s,. I did not have the privileged of working with the Phantoms but that kicked ass too and I had many shipmates with utmost fond for them . I am not goint to fault the hornets but the Tomcats are my favorite and them Phantoms kicked some real ass in Nam, and those phantoms made the difference as late as dessert storm to allow the Falcons to complete their missions, Man I love these planes
When I was a kid I watched final countdown and top gun my dream was to fly tomcats but living in new Zealand I was told foreigners weren't able to fly USA fighters man was I depressed for those who got to fly tomcats congratulations I mean swing wing two tailed two giant engines and a bunch of weopens with the enemies name on it I would have died for the opportunity love you ferocious feline
Was some of this footage actually used in the movie “The Final Countdown” ? It looks so familiar. I like the part when the Tomcats were playing with the A6M2 Zeros and then they get shot at. Then the pilot says “requesting permission to fire”, then Kirk Douglas says “ Splash the Zeros !, I repeat, SPLASH THE ZEROS !!! “ and the F-14’s spread their wings out and go in for the kill. That was my favorite part of the movie, but the whole movie was awesome. What a star studded cast : James Farentino, Kirk Douglas, Martin Sheen, Charles Durning.
What's also interesting is that movies featuring the U.S. military that show the military in a positive light, the defense department will actually help finance, and allow use of their assets. eg. "The Final Countdown", "Top Gun". While movies that show the military negatively, they won't help at all, and want nothing to do with. Eg. Oliver Stone's "Platoon".
While the DOD will allow assets to be used in movies that show the military in a positive light, the production company has to pay the DOD for the use of the aircraft and ships.
Tony Scott directed the biggest recruiter for the US Navy, Top Gun. And then was refused any D.O.D help whatsoever when directing Crimson Tide. Hence the opening scene taking place on the French aircraft carrier 'Foch'. All of the submarine footage on the surface was done by chasing subs with a camera helicopter after they'd left San Diego...
While beginning the decommissioning of VF84, we filmed executive decision with Kurt Russell and Stephen Segal in Florida. Kurt was amazing. He spent time with the command. We all knew he wasn't supposed to, but a kind and super person he was.
@@LIONTAMER3D yes I was in the Navy on board the carrier America and those fighter pilots were the biggest arrogant assholes on the ship. All of them thought they were Tom Cruise
I'm not a pilot... I'm not a US citizen, I'm actually from Argentina... I know these are killing machines actually.... but my gosh just look at them....most beautiful aircraft ever built!!!
Deschideti colivia, maiastra ca sa zboare, Sa cante-n libertate, sa urce iar la soare. Faceti din viata voastra eterna sarbatoare, Si nu uiatati o clipa, ca ce-i frumos nu moare.
I was honored serve on The UssNimitz68 cvn-68 nuclear aircraft carrier battle strike group during the Perisan gulf war from 11/1991-3/1996 in the liberation for Kuwait 🇰🇼 from Saddam HOUSEENI.
Cazas muy pesados, poca maniobrabilidad, demasiada potencia para ser soportada por los cuerpos de los pilotos, muy costosos en mantenimiento, repostaje y remplazo, por alguna razón terminaron vendiendolos a Teherán...
