Hello modellers,
In this video, you can see how I built the cockpit of the mighty F-14A Tomcat.
This kit is from HASEGAWA in 1/72, Cat.Nr.:02269.
I also used two upgrade sets.
Resin ejection seats from AIRES (CatNr:7169)
www.aires.cz/e...
3D-printed decals from QUINTA STUDIO (CatNr.:QD72027)
quinta-studio....
This is not a sponsored video. The kit, upgrade sets, paints, materials, and everything I use were paid for with my own money.

Thanks for watching!
All the best!

The ejection handles can be done by two fine threads , one black and yellow, bind and twist, set in place with PVC white glue, I saw this article in Fine Scale Magazine 5-yrs ago. In scale 1/72 wire might be use. super glue to set it placed, while the paint is acrylic.

Yep, you're right, that's another way. I tried it but I couldn't make it nice and realistic that's why I painted. Thank you for your comment.

Great job! I purchased the 1/48 set to dress up my Hasegawa F-14A. By watching this video it gives me great confidence knowing it will look better than painting it 😂

It's much better than painting it. Special in 1/72.

Wonderful work! I especially loved your attention to details in regards the side the air crew and mechanics enter the plane. Your work is fantastic and I can't wait to see the next video!

Lovely work! Years past had I been building simultaneously two similar kits: the Grumman F-14D Super Tomcat U.S. Navy Carrier-based Air Superiority Fighter. One I would park out of the traffic pattern, its wings drawn back, the canopy open, the aviator and RIO climbing up the steps; the other approached the launch apparatus, its wings extended, the crew inside the closed canopy. At 9:26, you mention something called a curtain handle, expressing your concerns to effect a more even appearance. First, photo-etched parts often have what I characterise as a "false two-dimensionality"; that is, it appears to be in just two dimensions when the actual item is fuller, perhaps even rounded; ship railings are a salient example. Here, the handles should be circular in cross section. I recommend substituting fine copper wire in an appropriate gauge. This might facilitate reproducing to even thickness the black striping (I have seen some in white and red). One possible solution might be a Sharpie fine-point black permanent ink magic marker (if I recall, they come in about 36 colours). Another possibility might be to find decals of fine red striping that one could wind a short length round the handles. I speak theoretically here, not actually having implemented either idea. Happy Holidays to you and yours, in whatever traditions you lot celebrate. And may the coming year bring all of you prosperity, long life, good health, joy, peace, friendship, love, fulfilment, transcendence . . . . 🎄

Hi, Thank you for your comment. I tried fine wire to replace the handle, but wasn't better than the photo-ethced one. Because of the added primer and paint it has circular dimensions (kinda 😄). It's just so tiny to paint the black stripes on it. I tried sharpie, posca and various of markets, but wasn't better (too thick) than the fine brush. Happy holiday 😊
