Custom resonator delete on my 2014 F-150 STX 5.0L. Total cost was about $27 not including tools. This way is great for getting a much more aggressive sound out of your Coyote F-150 with out the extreme cost of name brand kits.
I listened to many RU-vid videos of different years of 5.0s with either resonator delete, muffler delete, or both. I went with Muffler delete which was $80 at a muffler shop. I love the way it sounds on my ‘11 5.0 XLT SuperCrew. Not too loud, especially at cruise. Fairly loud under hard pull or when towing. No drone ever. I have a car with a cat back and no resonators, and its drone from 54-58 mph is maddening. The F-150 however is a muffler delete and a joy to drive. No change in mpg or performance that I can tell. But that 5.0 sound is worth chopping off a giant muffler. The cats also muffle quite a bit.
I’ll be doing this to mine soon but maybe with one of the bolt on kits with the flange to I can put the stock resonator back on if I want to. Mine is a separate resonator pipe up front so you don’t have to cut the stock system if you don’t want to. I’ve had two 5.0 f150s now and had a cat back on both and I put both back to stock eventually after getting sick of just a little over the top volume especially on cold starts in winter at 3am! Both my previous cat back systems included the resonator delete though, so I’m looking forward to just the stock muffler with resonator delete for a less aggressive sound. I think it will go well with the roush intake that already adds a slight grunt up front but still is too boring!
@@TheGreatRandazzo I ended up doing muffler. Dang it’s rumbling. This video was very help. Then my cousin came by with a muffler Delete. Heck. I may get it all cut off and keep the cats
Dude I love this all went well me sounds amazing you weren’t lying when you said Cut as close to the resonator as possible I definitely butchered that a little bit but was able to move the muffler forward and get myself some room to clamp it in! This is awesome sounds great!
I have a 2014 STX I just got a few weeks ago, and wow what a hotrod, lol. I actually enjoy hearing the engine itself over the exhaust, as the 5.0 sounds so good, even with quiet mufflers. With that said I am staring the whole exhaust decision in the face. What I want is in between stock, and a resonator delete like this. Hearing the engine and exhaust at the same time, and same sound level. I am wondering if changing the resonator to say a glasspack design magnaflow muffler would get me where I want to be? or maybe a full sized Magnaflow? Do you have a video where you have done this?
I already have an electric cutout after the resonator, before the muffler, it gives it a nice rumble but it's not loud enough for me, so I think I will be doing this to the truck next.
I put a intermediate pipe on my 2012 from a 2009-2010 f150 as they don't have a resonator. Bolted right on and was under 30 from rockauto also. Was going to do this though.
Not that I've noticed. And leaving those bolts loose is very dangerous. You'd run the risk of having your exhaust drop as you're driving along with fumes escaping too close to the cab
The diameter for my pipe in this section of exhaust was 2.5 inches. For the length I just measured what i cut out and added an inch or two to each side for overlapping and clamping.
As long as there is enough pipe overlap where the clamps are you *should* be fine. A lot of exhaust systems come with sections clamped together from the factory.
@@TheGreatRandazzo nice. I've always been a fan of the 40 series. If I kept my resonator I'd consider a super10. Honestly I'm looking at cat backs now for fun

little late but if you see this i have a 97 5.4 and i have a glass pack to a 3in side pipe and it’s just the right combination of engine/exhaust sound. it’s loud close up but it quiet enough to where it won’t shake a house when you start it in the morning
@@colinmorgan7822 Nope, the newish 5.0 engines are a COMPLETELY different animal. The same exhaust you put on a 4.6/5.4 will be extremely loud on a 5.0. You can hear a 5.0 growling through the firewall when you hit the gas, even with a bone stock exhaust. They are angry, lol.
