Every Campbell in fighters has “soup” as a call sign. So, maybe. New guy, 492nd FS? Never flew with him though.

Thanks again to you and Starbaby for this fantastic series! Absolutely the highlight of my week. Honestly, I think it would be fascinating to hear you talk to some B-1B guys some day. Such an interesting and under appreciated airframe.

Memories of Jane’s F15E flight sim. Some great missions flying in Gulf War 1 with RAF Jaguars and the like. The back seater would say things like “ We blew that up bigger than Dallas! “ He would occasionally vomit during intense maneuvers. Too much fun.

It may be coming up next, but are you going to talk about the Grdelica train? That seems very pertinent to cover in this series.
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
I agree, and we will.

Could we get a video with Starbaby discussing CRM (crew coordination) in the Strike Eagle in honour of the DCS module release? I can't wait to take the WSO seat and hope to know best how to work with the pilot and divide duties.
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
That's already scheduled but at an undecided time with the Safe on Deck podcast. Since my life has never revolved around video game releases, we will get to it when we get to it.

@@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions Hi there from near Cambridge. Love your stories! I was on a GR1 Sqn at Lossiemouth during your LKH tour & recognise much of what you said about Incirlik & the various other TDYs you talked about (#stillhatethekingdom). You need to get yourself back to East Anglia to appreciate some warm flat English beer & a nicely cooked Sunday roast with all the trimmings! I go to the USA a lot as an airline pilot now, and whilst your beer has improved (love the microbreweries!), you guys murder vegetables! Seriously though, your banter epitomises what I miss about fighter pilot & WSO culture; I laugh out loud at your comments! Stay well old chap!

"The guys writing it aren't the guys doing the mission" is the universal rule of management whether it's the USAF, Army, or a civilian job. Good leaders understand their separation from the nitty gritty and let people work like SB said. Bad ones micro manage from a distance.

What exactly is a "combat" check ride? I'm familiar with regular check rides but this sounds like an odd concept to me.
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
Gotta get your annual check. It’s not like you’re going to fly home to do it at home base. So, a combat tac check.

Was this before GPS guided bombs became a thing? Just occured to me that you had laser/cloud issues, which would have been solved by GPS guidance... or no?
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
This predates JDAM and even GATS/GAM was only on the B-2

What’s the deal with the Doge in the hud? It’s funny, but I’m curious to the reference. If there’s a joke, or just blocking out another persons face…🤷🏻‍♂️ if’s it’s referred to in a previous episode, I missed it.
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
Cheems. Also, an unofficial and oblique reference to NAFO's fella, using a different dog of the same species.

Another good episode. Who dresses Starbaby? What’s with the collar airman?
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
Yeah, neither the director nor my valet caught that. I don't spend a lot of time in the mirror because I know what I look like.

Impressed with range of expertise Starbaby shares backed with a full understanding what was and still going on in the Balkan region. You have to consult history before trying to understand why events in 99 developed in OAF and then might be stunned that same Serbian regime from 20 years ago was resurrected in it's own nature, being stronger to majority of Serbian neighbors like Bosnia, Monte Negro or even Albania. Regarding Serbian MIGs and their pilots - he's right, they were not only outnumbered, but also lacked functional aircrafts, proper training and above all, no idea what to actually do when airborne. SAM threat was more credible, no only because they were a bit smarter than Iraqis, but because terrain profile makes then hard to track when they go off . Serbs also had spotters in Italy as a lot of them work around Trieste and Udine, alongside Slovenia. I'm not sure if Starbaby reads this but I'm wondering if he can perhaps share the role of F-15E into attack on Udbina AF in 1994, then a part of Serbian occupied area in Croatia.
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
Alas, no. In 1994 I was flying the F-4G.

08:55 how the fuck would you know that?!
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions 3 месяца назад
Mostly because I had good track through a dive profile. But you are correct, that is inferred from the profile and not direct observation on tape.

Such a great storyteller! Is it true Starbaby spent his B-Course weekends at George making chainmail and playing Alpha Omega?
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
Never heard of Alpha Omega but there was some chainmail manufacturing going on.

This pilot is a clown, as if he knows anything more than to drop the bomb where he's told and back to to cycling. Ask your superiors why they were shocked when the Serbian army left Kosovo, how come almost all the equipment was preserved? Well, because you were destroying decoys like idiots. If the decoys were unsuccessful, why did the factories that produced them kill themselves from work, they didn't stop production one day. it's hard for them to admit that we fooled them.
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions
@StarbabyAirPiracyProductions 3 месяца назад
That's the challenge, certainly. If we were fooled, we had no way of knowing and logically, would still be fooled. Could have happened, and certainly had difficulty funding targets by May. But if there were tone of decoys, I would have expected a great many to survive until afterwards, and then I'd be asking where they were?
