@@Apodalont Wrong. They had 2 F16's. This was the 2nd of them and the only one in this Orange livery. The project (according to the KLu Demo Team) was at first stalled in 2014 due to the unavailability of certified personnel to maintain operation. They had 1 pilot at any given time, 1 aircraft, only 4 ground crew, 3 advisors, 2 pilot coaches, 2 technical specialists and one technical assistant. The goal of this Demo Team was to make young people excited about potentially becoming a fighter pilot in the future. The Netherlands were never short of F-16's because they never participated in wars big time. During the Afghanistan war they had F-16's stationed there but there were still many stationed in the Netherlands. I live right across one of the airbases and every time an F-16 or F-35 takes off for a mission and not a training flight, it's local news. In 2018 they decided to permanently cancel the program. The F-16 J-015 went back in service. If a short of aircraft would be the reason, they would have restarted the program by now since there's a bunch of new aircraft in the arsenal since recent years. The Netherlands have had a shortage of fighter pilots for a long time. The Royal Dutch Airforce was advertising for years hoping people would sign up for the program. Those ads seem to have been gone for a few years now, indicating they are managing it for now.
