@Bobby Johnson I love this aircraft so much, I bought an rc model of one. I’m hoping to buy a second one just for the hell of it. I’ve flown models of an F-5, Eurofighter typhoon, Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, TBM Avenger, F-15C, P-47D, (2) F-18E hornets. Now hopefully not one but 2 Raptors. So I heavily agree with you.

I'd say instant turn rate is better. if the raptor ever gets to a merge that instant turn rate assures it only has to turn once to get a fox 2 off and finish the fight. It'd be much more difficult to pull a plane into a sustained low speed rate fight.

The introduction of the F-22 was before my time but I feel like I am experiencing this now with our 6th gen fighter

The first time I saw an F-22 was on a poster in my middle school's rocket hobby club. Needless to say it was love at first sight. A month or two later Ace Combat 4 released and my cousin let me borrow his copy. I played that game every day after school for the next 6 months. I have very fond memories of that game and this plane.

@@sarayel Then you'll lose all the energy you had. By the time it starts to regain its energy the other fighter has come around and Fox 2, see you later. It's not a viable maneuver in air to air combat. Energy retention, sustained turn rate, BVR capability, stealth and thrust to weight are all far more important than post stall maneuvers.

The YF-23 is actually more maneuverable than the F-22 in high energy sustained turn rates because pf the YF-23s much lower wing loading which comes from its large wings and v tail.

+MrBreezY270 It's not useless it's a temporary very high angle of attack. Which means you can give your rockets a good angle on the enemy target. You WILL lose a lot of energy in the process. leaving you vulnerable afterwards. So it's a double edged sword. Not useless

A cobra is a very useful maneuver for getting shot down, assuming that's your goal. And Western aircraft have been shooting down Russian aircraft for decades, so maybe that is the goal. It's a faster and more efficient that way.

MrBreezY270 I agreed with you. cobra maneuver is useless on real aerial combat but for acrobatic, it will help you to sell out jet fighter to countries that did know how to choose the right figther.

Lol it literally has everything you just mentioned. It already is the most formidable fighter in the world.

The F-35 isn't an air superiority fighter. It does a little bit of everything with a focus on BVR A2G engagements. It can certainly engage air targets and get stuck in with some dogfights if something goes horribly wrong. It's a jack of all trades and it's really good at that. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter built specifically to kill other planes, it has no A2G capability beyond its 20mm cannon which can shoot continuously for a grand total of 4.8 seconds. It was born to mulch planes with being detected and it does that exceptionally well. Despite being developed in the 90's it still has many advantages over the F-35 when it comes to A2A engagements. No other plane in the world comes close to the sheer psychotic operational power of the F-22. Certainly nothing our enemies have.

Both aircraft are similarly stealthy (F-22 has a stealthier shape but F-35 makes up for it with its fibermat skin and improved RAM coatings) but the F-35 has a more advanced radar and EW suite, it has DAS and EOTS, it can network with all other assets in the AO (F-22 can only network with other F-22's at this point), and it has better countermeasures so it would have the advantage in BVR. The F-22 is of course kinematically superior so it would have the advantage in a dogfight, except that the F-35 pilot has an HMD visor giving her 360 degree field of vision and allowing her to target anything she's looking at. Armed with HOBS missiles, the F-35 can effectively shoot down an aircraft on it's 6 o'clock like that. The F-22 can become the top dog again if it gets the necessary upgrades, but this is how things stand for now

SU 35 and other flanker cannot do F22 high speed high thrust to weight ratio manuver like F22. Only F22 dan F35 can do that manuver. SU 35 and other flanker only capable to Low Speed Manuver in airshow and don't have tactical value in real combat situation.

They didn't build enough of them. Not sure the 35 is better. Then again you only need stealth for the first one's into the battlefield. The 15's and 16's are still incredible adversaries especially over ground we control.

​@@jlandon602835 isn't as good as the f22 at air superiority, f35 is made to be versatile, f22 is for stealth+air superiority, and nothing does it better. unfortunately they were pretty expensive, and they had issues with ~1/3rd of the ones they made. They later allegedly scrapped everything related to manufacturing new ones just so no one could steal it, but idk how true that claim is

SU 35 only do Sitting Duck Manuver, not High Speed manuver. Low speed manuver only usefull in airshow. But it is uselles in real combat
