Sukhois baffle the shit out of me. The thing is as big as a B-17 but pulls like a maniac. That first kill was just shocking. Specially against a BFM monster like the Hornet. AND YET your pilot skills were just remarkable. You never disappoint, man.
Hey, fellow Vietnamese here! My grandfather was a MiG-17 pilot during the Vietnam War, he was shot down, survived but didn't score any kills. I was just wondering what if the Soviets gave MiG-23s for the VPAF to clash against F-4Es in 1972, I thought that would be fun to replicate in DCS
@@NIKE-cf3xl not really, while MiG-23s are not the most agile Soviet fighter jets, they are more maneuverable than the MiG-25 and carries more armaments, especially short range missiles. Also F4s lacks long range missiles like the Aim120s (atleast back then) and not the same radar capabilities as that of the F-15 Comparing MiG-23 vs F4 to MiG-25 vs F-15 doesn't make any sense
Back in 72 Vietnam only had MiG-2s with a couple of R-3s and at best with cannons. So I'm guessing the 4 x R-60 loadout from a MiG-23 would help a lot more, much more helpful than a MiG-17 at least
good job for the Vietnamese flyer, that first round is legendary. Make the 'nam in me proud :D Vietnamese Su-30 doesn't have the canard and TVC though, really a water down version rather than the beast that is the MKI
Hahaha the first two fights were the funniest yet :DDD And a random "Check gear!" alert from the enemy was the final chef's kiss. Everything was just so off on that very beautiful day.
I believe the first round just caught GS off guard - Toxic showing off his improved skills. Great nail biting videos with some really close mid-air collisions. In the real-world, both those pilots would be physically exhausted - g forces in both directions. I personally would be sick to my stomach if I even survived. That was awesome. It's so interesting how different every scenario plays-out so differently. Nothing can be expected or predicted in this simulator. I have tried so many times to repeat exact time-lines and no two are exactly alike. It's really and truly unpredictable. Keep'em coming.
This is by far my favorite dogfight. So evenly matched, they just end up dancing with each other! I love how the hornet airframe is still an excellent dogfighter today 👍
You guys could have been a toque or a wool sock, it was so tight knit. That was sick! More low altitude HOBS stuff please! There's also maybe been one or two kills for the next compilation 😁
Toxic is his name that su30 he uses is very experienced with not only shooting but evading. The fa18 is good but Russia knew what they wanted when they built that plane
Could the exploding fox2 have been caused by damage from the gun rounds earlier? When it appeared the Sukhois seemed to fly through the rounds. It was the port side Fox2 that exploded
Great show! Now the tough question: who won? I mean, technically Toxic had 3 kills, 1 being himself, while you got 2 on him - or perhaps just call it a tie until next time?
It was because he initiated the turn first and GS was late. Happens a lot. Sometimes u can turn too early like the Sukhoi did later and almost got gunned immediately
I'm actually amazed that the simulation realism is high enough for the F-18 to make this "mistake" to declare "check gear". I wonder how many DC pilots ever came across this little detail
GS is flying stellar as usual, but Toxic has been getting better every video it seems like and they really stepped it up for this one. Obv Thrust Vectoring is gunna help out but that was some great BFM. I've always wondered why they never put T.Vectoring Nozzles on the F18 if it's supposed to be such a beasty 1C Fighter.
I really enjoyed the no holds barred style of this fight with guns and fox twos being brought to bear. Future dogfights should be like this. I think the Flanker was using a mix of maneuvering and ECM to mess with you cueing system. When round five popped up, I said oh wait there's more. And it must be that time of the year again with missiles falling in love with your face.
A spicy one GS !! great job keeping that WEZ jammed , in my opinion the SU 30 is one of the "better russian jets" out there . The Malaysian SU 30 MKM is on par if not , better than the SU 35 . Could you please make a video on that one ?
In 2nd, 3rd and 4th round the flanker did a Syrian lead turn while merging which made him defensive from the beginning and throughout the fight. Didn't really give GS much problems or a challenge post that.
Scene 0:38 - Look at the bright side, at least you won't have to stay at the Hanoi Hilton, Vietnam's most famous 5 star hotel for U.S. military pilots.
Oh it’s just some guys lawn. Bro if you drop a jet into my yard I’m going to be a little upset I not have to salvage the gun off of it on a Friday that I’m off work.
That was an awesome video. I love all of your content, but that fight displayed a tremendous amount of skill from both pilots. Maybe its because I have ~45 hours in DCS and chose the hornet to learn first, but that was a treat to watch man.
I THINK his Fox-2 Kaboominated on his wing because it was fired while inverted. There's probably a 1-in-100,000 chance of it happening, but when he fired, the wind, gravity and missile release, must have all been working against each other in the worst possible way, resulting in the missile slamming into the wing, an instant after being released. That's what I think happened, based on the footage...
Wait. The simulation in this game is so detailed that it recreates the *function* of the landing gear warning radar? Not just "warn when this aircraft is X feet AGL" but simulates the radar itself? Good God.
