Aug 3, 2021, 2:36 PM That photo of the canning jars is what our pantry looked like in DeLancey, New York in the 1970's and 1980's but that food had to last us the whole Winter 🙁 We had cans of sardines in the 1970's and 1980's 🙁 We had cans of tuna in the 1970's and 1980's 🙁 We had cans of salmon in the 1970's and 1980's 🙁 Canned fish in the 1970's and 1980's is what we had to eat for food 🙁 And we had bushels of potatoes in the basement for food to eat in the Winters in the 1970's and 1980's 🙂 The government did not create public assistance until approximately the year 1976. In about the year 1976 is when the government created food stamps and public assistance which means that our grandparents did not have public assistance in the 1950's or the 1960's or the 1970's 🙁 We had to grow food to eat in gardens during the Summers and it wasn't considered to be child labor in the 1950's or 1960's or 1970's 🙁 Children had to work all day in gardens to grow foods to eat in the 1960's and 1970's and we had to can the fresh fruits and fresh vegetables in mason canning jars so that we had food to eat in the Winters 🙁 My mother knew that she could grow food to feed us before she got pregnant with us in the 1970's 🙁 I would can fruits and vegetables in mason canning jars if I could afford to 🙁 It is expensive in July 2021 to can fresh fruits and fresh vegetables in mason canning jars 🙁 I wouldn't mind working and doing physical labor on a government run farm to grow fruits and vegetables to feed myself and feed people BUT when they start giving birth to seven children they can grow their own food 🙁 Where are these people going to get food from to feed all these children that they are bringing here from Afghanistan? Where are they going to get food from to feed all the children that these women are giving birth to?
