A mixture of Cuteness and Exultation have been the permanent feelings dominating my existence, since the first time i came through this etude as an adolescent. Ιn your detailed analysis i can find profound knowledge of the score and its demands, rich imagination, uncommon charm and rare sensitivity in discovering the hidden virtues of any musical text, especially those composed by Chopin. Perhaps a lullaby between two childish games! A simple idea of innocence, being elaborated in an absolute and masterly way by Chopin as a composer and presented by you as an analyst. Once more, thank you so much, Dear Maestro!

Your dynamics are so so beautiful. Wonderful lecture and analysis.. Thank you for the reference to the Polonaise Fantaisie and the reference to Chopin s mother singing the folk theme to him.

What interesting analysis with references to other works of the same/ similar theme. The left hand practise emphasis on pinky finger is so true. Another excellent video. Did notice the middle part melody ( Part B) is all left hand you presented them really melodious-ly.

Amazing lecture! Thank you a lot👏 I love this etude. When I listen to it, part A is for me like falling and braking fragile fragments of Chopin’s sensual heart. And part b is like healing nocturne. I didn’t know it is taken from polish song))

Regarding the second section (Piu Lento), I think that Chopin was reiterating this melody also from the middle section (in B major) of his Polonaise Op.26 #2. They sound very similar!

Thank you so much for this! I just found out about this series tonight and its been immensily insightful. That second part A with the 3 notes was really cruel from chopin. The first A section was already very uncomfortable to learn, then those middle notes were introduced! I really love your dynamics for the middle part, I can't seem to differentiate the melody enough on my upright without it sounding way too loud, but perhaps that's partly fault to both my technique and my upright's action. Looking forward to the other tutorials!

As behind humor often there is some real drama i feel in the „wrong note“ part a kind of dramatic thing..not really a joke..i feel it (mostly in the a part of the „first etude“) like a kind of emotional injury, what leads to this kind of artistic peculiarity.. thanks for your video..you are great!

Dear Greg! Your lectures are so inspiring and full of true love to Chopin's music! I feel how my love and eagerness to learn some etudes grows! A little question: is there the same polish melody in Scherzo #1?
@gregniemczuk
@gregniemczuk 2 года назад
No no, it's different. In the Scherzo no.1 there's a Polish Christmas Carrol.

For me this is an etude of a story of a very drunk person, in one evening of his life: First he is a little tipsy (in italiano we say giro la testa), than and the trio he finds a beautifull girl and he falls in love with her (of course only for a moment, and he doesnt seucseed to get her), than, in the reprise he is even more drunk and heavy, and in the finale he gets mad and than falls into beautifull sleep

I noticed that the middle section of this etude is a variation of the first and last sections, or maybe it's the other way round?

Hello, thank you for the video! However there is one thing i don't get : in part A, when are you playing the second note with right hand compare to the broken chord with left hand? Do you play it juat after finishing the broken chord? Or at the same time?
@gregniemczuk
