I see why Black didn't break out. There is a mature way to express that you would like to go a different way creatively. Producers are visionaries and they see things from a different perspective than an artist would. Now whether or not that vision would have work for Black if he and JD would have worked that issue out and pressed go back then, we will never know. Ultimately when you are in the "Music Business" every singe move you make has to be strategic if you want longevity and legacy. If Black was a package did not need to be molded and shaped in order to be presented and marketed to the masses then there wouldn't have been a conversation. Certain artist sweat greatness, there isn't much more polishing or shinning you can do to make them any brighter, and then there are other artist that need or require more of a hands on approach.
