United were 'encouraged' to drop out of the FA Cup by the FA to feature in the Club World Cup as it would aid the 2006 World Cup bid. We wanted to play a reserve side or fly out the team who we drew to Brazil to play the game. They were trying to do anything to make FIFA happy as part of one of their many attempts to get the World Cup.

The FA Cup was devalued when they chose to have the semi-finals at Wembley. If you think back, in the 70's and 80's, the top division was 22 teams and the league cup had two legged rounds where the lower league clubs had the top division sides at their grounds. Each player, because the squads were smaller, would play at least 60 games a season and these days, these players are just moaning despite being paid so much!

The best footballer fancy dress story is when Craig Levein's team mates did fancy dress and he said he wouldn't take part and wore a suit. They were on the train and half way through he disappeared and came back dressed as Superman.

Helen spitting a lot and saying nothing. FA Cup is still considered one of the 3 big trophies. just dont get the fanfare from the 80s. All clubs still want to win it.
