Fantastic Piano Concerto excellent performance from the two soloists with beautiful chromatic progressions throughout also trills & turns as the elements of stringendo are superbly blended & in parts,a pronounced mastoeso deliverance which introduces the piano work a beautiful theme is also present very colorful as an immediate start to the work ,its a very dramatic the orchestra & conductor are a wonderful combination, as the piano`s take the lead Beautiful all the way through ,a fabulous slow movement with the flutes & bassoon`s really giving a lovely blend to the movt, superb presentation a pleasure to listen to & very captivating indeed comments by Martin Briddon Classical Pianist of Chesterfield Derbyshire UK 3/3/2020

I heard this at the Kennedy Center years ago, and learned to appreciate Herr Mendelssohn.

This is just such an amazing piece of music and that pair do an incredible job on the piano part. Plus, the orchestra is brill. I just love it. Yes - pity about the poor acoustics!

This is the second Mendelssohn performance I have heard from the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Moscow State Philharmonic, the first being Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, with Sayaka Shoji playing the solo. Once again, I am absolutely amazed by the professionalism and expression of this wonderful ensemble of musicians. This is beautiful! My sincere thanks to Alexander Ghindin, Ekaterina Metchetina, the members of the orchestra, and to you personally Mr. Ponkin. Thank you for sharing this performance with us!

my opinion, so you can just throw it to the trash after reading it: I thought the tempo was too slow at the beginning but as soon as the pianos start to play I think it's OK (I actually there is a deliberate change on that?), but the problem is that I can hardly listen to the music with all the environment noise, there is too much reverberation in the room, or in the recording. In any case I am happy that I have the chance to see this video, I always wondered which part was played by which piano

This is probably my favorite Mendelssohn Piano Concerto after his #2 in D minor (single piano). Nice recording and sound quality.

I agree absolutely, also about the D minor, which is a lot stronger than the G minor (perhaps a little less catchier?).

You can get a lovely "3rd Mendelssohn concerto" by playing his "Capriccio brillante" and "Serenade and Allegro gioioso" ensuite!

helgeevju there already IS a Mendelssohn 3rd concerto. Orchestration partly reconstructed, but the piano score is 100% Mendelssohn. Actually, it’s his 4th concerto since he wrote one as a youth.

Intro of Capriccio Brillante is one of the most beautiful things Mendelssohn ever wrote.

How much do piano music page turners get paid? Not enough. Look how straight they sit and they never miss a flip!

Yes, interesting that Alex has a blond to turn for him and Katherine has a trendy young man. Presumably one has to read music to do this job !
