Nice comparaison ! Thanks. The Phantom-s is also dedicated for waves, do you have any idea about the differences with the SK8 in the sames areas ? 740 vs 750 or 840 vs 850? Speed, pumping, rail to rail, low end?
I'm doing the same comparison but slightly different sizes: Eagle 790 vs Sk8 750 and 850. I've found the same characteristics as you describe spot on. For me, the 850 Sk8 seems to be equivalent "size" to the 790 whereas the 750 feels a bit smaller. But I don't have your skills so take with a large grain. Yes, the phantom has been reincarnated as the Sk8 with glide.
Hi!! Thanks for sharing!! Just a question: which of the two foils (eagle vs. sk8) has better lower wind capability and lower stall speed? I tested the sk8 950 (jibes and tacks level) on flat water (68 kg, 5.0 Strike V2, 75 L) and was struggling to come on the foil at 12-15 knots. Probably the wrong pumping technique, but I found it a really difficult foil compared to my Phantom 1280. Maybe I should have tested the 1050. Which one would you recommend: EAGLE vs. SK8? Jordan
I love my eagle 890 for every day winging at my 80kg but thinking of adding a sk8 750 for some carving fun over 20kn. Thoughts? Or just another smaller eagle.
Hi Tom, Good question. I love my eagle 890 also. I am now trying the 790 eagle against the 750 SK8. I just love the glide of the eagles. they still have plenty of carve. the Sk8 is also great but my preferance is the eagle, but that's just me
Hi Paul, Now using the 690 in all wind ranges. I was on a 790 eagle but now on 690 all the time in every condition. On a semi sinker 75Lt Rocket wing board with a 7m wing in 12kts all the way up to 30Kts with a 4m wing
@@otbmarine121 amazing... I love my my sk8 750 but I may had a 690 eagle. When waves are not breaking, more fore swell riding or flat water. I am 70kg using rocket-s 54lt
@@otbmarine121is there any benefits of using 790/890 against 690? For example, small waves or chop gliding? Or it's a myth and if I'm able to start on minimal size, no need to go bigger? I'm riding 850 80℅ of time and recently tried 790 - was shocked by its light wind abilities... Maybe I need 690 too?))
@coderts if you like the 790 then the 690 is just as easy to get up on foil as 790 but is faster and turns beautifully as well. Slightly less glide but very similar
