Thank you. Good to see the reviews of the V2 trickling in. Plenty of folks will be asking themselves the question you started answering with this video.
Lol i just bought a 5.5m strike v2 a couple weeks ago in navy blue and i had not even seen this video. Your video me feel like a made the right choice lol
My mate has the new Duotone Unit 5m and looks great but one thing we did notice is when he got slammed the front of the first rigid bar dinged the board slightly. (Fanatic Board) So this is something to look out for. Maybe a pad or something to protect the handle from damaging the board. I think I will stick with the Slick. Great review!
From someone that comes from windsurfing and kiting, I can understand this... It doesn't happen too much kiteboarding because the bar is small, but smashing a windsurf board with the boom or mast is really common. That said, I would think the odds are much smaller winging, even with the Duotone bar.
Thanks. The video we've been waiting for. Here is some price comparing for wings you've mentioned from Europe: Size - 5m Regular Unit - 1000 eur DLAB Unit - 1660 eur Strike V2 - 1050 eur From videos i've seen about DLAB one - there is a weight difference that might be critical for racing.
Hi Mike, Thanks for watching and your comments. We have now since tested both of the Unit and Strike out further during racing. The Strike V.2 is the winner similar upwind performance but the strike goes 20-30% lower and faster down wind. We have seen a DLab Unit and it is lightwr than the standard unit but very similar weight to the Strike V.2. So if it is $600 Euro more expensive than the Strike V.2 WOW. Strike V.2 for sure
Hi Clive, at the moment we only have 1 x 5.5m Strike V2 and Strike V1 biggest is a 5m. We will try for a review on 5m V1 & 5m V2 once we can get our hands on one Cheers
Thanks again . Of course would have been great to compare the 2 wings in the same size. So you can compare power , low end , high ends , ease when pumping like catching tips…. Maybe next test!? 😁
Hey Lolo, yes would be good except we can't get any new units or Strike V.2 sizes for 6-8 weeks as they are very limited and production delays. The unit definitely lacks pumping power as it is very flat, extremely good upwind or on a tight reach. Downwind it is slow too flat no power, so for slalom racing good, upwind Downwind racing slightly better upwind than Strike but the Strike blows it away Downwind. Hope this helps Cheers
Thanks for making ... Sweet Vid! Yesterday I got my first good flying session in on my Axis ART 1099. I rilly like how little resistance there is just to cruise at a comfortable speed, great manuvarability too. I was wondering in the medium wind range for these wing which is more efficent or more slippery just crusing back and forth with mild turning or zig / zagging? With the Unit V2 and Strike V2 rated so well I am thinking about both for my next larger hand wing "my only right now is a 5m". For mostly small and medium sized lakes do you think the Slick is still on top? Or could the Stike V2 and Unit V2 still be better for guys that will get not much swell and even less waves? Thanks! 🙂
Hi Jonathan, Thanks for your comments. In our opinion the slick is a previous generation wing. The Unit V2 and strike V2 are the latest generation with much improvements over the slick. If you are looking for a wing bigger than a 5m then hands down the Strike CWC 6m or 7m is by far the best in the market right now
So, did you manage to get your hands on DLAB Unit? Reviews overall show that's it's a really good wing for wave/downwind. They way it flies on a leash, super handling of gusts and feeling not overpowered compared to other ones in same size.
Hey Mike, we have had a good look at it, and it is very similar in weight to the Strike V2. There is a concern on the material and UV as they say to try and keep it out of the sun. It still doesn't flag out as good as the Strike V2. So a big price difference.
@@otbmarine121 I am actually a bit torn here between those two: Strike 2 and Unit DLAB in size 5. BTW prices are still same in Europe as i've mentioned in my comment 8 months ago. I have some, i can say basic kite foiling experience. Plan is to start with size 5, Phantom 1280 foil (or maybe even a 1080?) and a non sinker board, i am 75 kg. Riding discipline - basically wave downwind carves with pumping starting about 15-16 kts of wind. Also, a bit of concern on dlab is that it seems wider in span than other wings, don't know how it stacks up with strike V2 in same size. Would be great to have your comment on this one idea of mine :) Thank you.
@@otbmarine121 Sweet. Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning on ordering one in 5'5"' 88L. I'm 89Kg, but I'm planning to drop to 80kg or so as I come back to the water after a hiatus. Many years of kiteboarding and windsurfing under my belt.
@@otbmarine121 Hi, so I decided to go with Duotone Unit V2. Ordering 2. What do you think? 6M and 4.5M combo, or 5.5M and 4M combo? 80KG rider, in generally 10-15knots. Really light days are 8-13 knots. Rare windy days are 13-18knots.
Am i drunk? In the Video you say the span of the Strike is around 3.5m and the span of the unit 3.93m but at minute 0:53 i see no difference?! The CWC is clearly much bigger in span then the unit!! There is a huge difference. Check your measuring tape
Thanks for watching. To Clarify the Strike 5.5m is 3.5m span, Unit 6.5m is 3.93m span, Strike 7m CWC is 4m span . So the CWC 7m is slightly bigger span than the Unit 6.5m. The tape measure is correct & if you put both wings ontop of each other you can see only a small differance. Cheers
