In relation to "illegal" products, some people feel the same about 3 party resin kits, that they don't support them because they're not made by Bandai. But to someone who's a painter, at the end of the day if it catches my eye I want to paint it. And you can't deny the talent these resin makers have, the one and only thing they don't have is the rights to the property

At the end of the day, people wouldn’t have to buy 3rd party kits if the manufacturer sells more. They don’t so it just shows they’re not bothered. I’m totally with you I don’t see any issues with it, it’s not hurting anyone

i have been looking forward to this one and what a beautiful result! and especially in a case like this i personally find a recast more than okay, morally and ethically.

I agree with you in regards to the recasts issue. I prefer to buy an original, but they need to make supply and pricing more accessible.

I love this kit. I dont think i would ever build this myself do to cost but it truly is amazing to look at.

IMO the purists see their kits devalued by all those reprints. It's kinda like NIMBY with housing. In a sense, the original creators benefit from the artificial scarcity, but not as much as the scalpers on ebay. True art collectors do not mind high quality fakes as they are the sincerest form of compliment.

Came to watch your video from the FB group, looks great and gave you another sub! Fantastic paint work, and the video gave me an idea of what to look for when I get to mine. In regards to the morality of recasts, I try to support Volks whenever i can because i *do* love their brand, but i also understand just how difficult it can be to get their resin kits and support them officially. It's even worse as a foreigner. That site always craps out the instant a drop happens lol. Took me a few tries to finally get a Wolke Schatze. I own an orignal ZAP, and am waiting on a Magnapalace. I got extremely lucky winning these, and it was quite the expensive endeavor. I don't fault people going for recasts with these at all. As you mentioned in the video, the kit isn't available to purchase now, not to mention both ZAP and Magnapalace were lottery kits, so they were even *more* limited than their other resin kits. I try to support Volks when I can, but i do have a couple recasts in my backlog, one of which is a Jagd Mirage which has been out of print for years now. My only qualm with recasts is when they're made to be passed off with the real thing. Buying secondhand on Yahoo auctions is risky because of that. My Jagd was very obviously a recast and that made it a little easier to swallow (I also got it before I was aware of Volks reprinting resin kits and how to buy from them as a foreigner). I love my FSS, but the attitude around recasts can definitely reek of elitism. Having fun building should always come first rather than treating your kit as an investment.

Conversation about recasting is deflecting from the fact this is a masterpiece. Wonderful design and you have really nailed the colour scheme. Volks created a rod for its own back tbh. Id love to support them but its impossible to get without being gouged one way or the other. And if you did pay the money its more of a keep it in a box in a pile 'collecting" thing as opposed to a modellers and painters thing... Great job 🎉❤

I agree about the recasting,. Some things are just unavailable now as originals, and I want to enjoy my hobby so why not get a recast if it's something you want to do

Well... The first GK and TFSS kit I have is this one. Although it was not original, I enjoy my hobby.

Beautiful work both from you and from Nagano. I'm dying to get this but even the recast is outside my price range from what I've seen. Hope someone makes a more affordable 1/100 or Volks decide to do an IMS version.

Awesome build, looks amazing. I don't mind recasts either if the original manufacturer goes out of his way to NOT offer it for sale anymore.

For plastic models like from Bandai that are widely available I understand shying away from bootlegs. However for resin kits that just aren’t readily available in the west, especially when the only way to get it is thru a lottery system, then that’s totally fine. I get all my ims kits from volks but all my gtm resin kits are recasts. Volks also is generally just taking the piss with their resin kit prices, I believe the official magnapalace is also around $1k

Build what you like ... a repop can be challenging to build. Nowadays repops are getting better in quality. IMHO I agree sometimes the original can be overly expensive and in many cases hard to find or put your hands on to purchase. So I don't fault anyone who would buy one.

So recast version from SH studio are the same to Volks's versions? If so I now know where to get mine

if the original is still in production and readily avaliable I'll buy it and if not then I'll get a recast. I have a bunch of original SH studio and other branded kits, but I also have a bunch of recasts of bclubs kits or kits that were only sold at c3hobby, if it's not for sale anymore then it's not hurting the creator cause paying scalper prices doesn't go to them anyways

Amazing vid as always dude. Regarding the "purity" thing, I only tend to get kits that are either extremely hard to get/not reprinted often if at all, or kits that are based on figures. Like, I could shill $300+ on the second-hand market for a Hi-Resolution kit, or I can get one for 1/10th the price. I could buy a metal build figure, or I could get a kit based on it, and have a relatively good building experience. What I will never do, however, is buy a third-party kit for something that's readily available. Like, I'm not gonna go out of my way to get a bootleg of a 3.0 MG RX-78-2 or any of the more popular kits (from uni/seed/etc.) because there's no need to. In your case, it's even worse, since, like you said, you not only need the cash, but also need to have the opportunity to even /buy/ the kit to begin with. If purists care about things like molding/etc., well, if you're skilled enough that doesn't really matter, since you'll fix whatever problems a kit has anyway if you're good enough.

I'm sorry if this is a question way below your skill level, but is scribing lines like you describe in 0:40 the way people usually add panel lining detail to raised surfaces? Also, why did you have to use resin and fill in the rainbow slits in 1:06? What stops you from just using paint, or colored panel liner?

I understand that it's sorta a play with the lore and stuff (plus a bit of the self-chagrinous shenanigans of the author) about regarding the Mortar Heads in FFS's world as pieces of fine art. So there's this luxury product type of treatment regarding these. But it doesn't take away both: the author is known to be stupid (did you know you can't watch the last anime of his works because it was only in a very enclosed limited screening?); and that if someone wants a model kit of one of those designs, and is literally unable to get it officially (be by lack of stock, unable to afford the original price, or both), it is then money the people who produced said kits, wouldn't get to ever see anyways. So paying way much cheaper 3rd parties/recasts (the act of recasting is *globally* common with every discontinued/unavailable resin kit in history ever if not already fully lost to time anyways) literally should suppose no difference to them. Is a natural and inherent consequence of the pattern they chose to follow. Is almost the same as the panorama regarding gaming piracy, or people buying knockoffs of Gucci products because they like the looks of it and not because of the prestige of being able to say "I've got Gucci hohoho".

Oddly enough, many of those who cannot afford or gain access to the original do a better job of detailing and painting a recast than those who can. I would prefer to see a product created with a recast by a skilled modeler than those with the original that are not that great at the hobby, just good at collecting.

Bad money drives out good money. If you want to enjoy it personally, you can do whatever you want, but I don't think it's a good idea to upload videos. The number of people who are okay with infringing goods will increase. And the original company disappears.

It's fine that you buy recast but dont promote it😂 everyone know that pirated is wrong but keep quiet, even myself buying recast just keep a low profile. Thing is are not illegal doesn't means it right to do
