The Gold Fox is the epitome of greed. It's almost addicting, you get to boost as MUCH as you want but if you reach a biiiit too far into that cookie jar your vehicle will violently explode.
21:14 I love how apparently all it takes for Simple's IQ to drop into the negatives and lower his guard completely is a game that directly punishes you for schmooving too hard.
Everybody in the comments is calling this a greed test, but the true greed test is staying in the safe rank in a grand prix on death wind. That rank out warning is genuinely the stuff of nightmares on that track when playing a grand prix.
And then you think you’re finally doing okay, only to find out the game will not hesitate to send five lucky bumpers after you at once in that setting, like a very temporary zombie survival mode.
I honestly HATE death wind, Never was able to complete Knight Cup because of it, Finished Queen Cup on the first try just from it not being there Even when i spent like 2 whole laps in first, crashing once or missing a boost will send you all the way to like 20th, and in the rank out zone
I got such a kick out of Simple saying "I won one" over and over again like a kid who gets a good mark on a test and is finally allowed to put it on the refrigerator.
24:12 the dramatic irony of Simpleflips’ driver passing the finish line and getting first place only to rear end an explosive 0.8 seconds later, detonating its charges and killing him instantly
My favorite thing through this whole thing is simple not understanding the spectating system and thinking people are just getting raptured and put ahead of him
i was thinking the same thing lol. i wonder if its really just like that, or we're here early, or its youtube nerfing bitrate to sell their new high bitrate thing on premium
@@timestopMachinist It's the way the game looks that's causing it. Video compression does not like concentrated areas of tiny changes (like the rough terrain effect and the environment beyond the track).
Not Simple literally getting Lucky Bumper several times and not even realizing it only to call a Lucky Bumper a stream sniper. What a legend at hiding his own skill and knowledge.
taken out of his mario/TTT environment simple's awareness of everything drops by 70%, despite having played the BONUS bumper minigame 3 times he could not connect the dots between it and the random blue bumpers spawning in front
They call it "F-Zero 99", but there are clearly only 4 cars in the entire game. Checkmate Nintendo. But seriously, my most heartbreaking moment so far in this game was me just about to cross the finish line in 1st on Death Wind, only to get KO'd by grey bumper into wall true combo
i used to play f zero snes semi professionally and f-zero 99 has made me question absolutely everything regarding the game so the fact that people are picking it up relatively quickly is honestly really brilliant.
i love playing as the goose car because you get to just bully people the whole race and then the catch up mechanic will just slingshot you near the front and you'll have full boost on the finally lap
It's honestly kind of incredible the sheer degree to which he doesn't notice lucky bumpers. He first of all doesn't realize what's going on despite becoming one many a time, and second of all doesn't even look at his place number to realize he's still in first!
Speed Racer? More like Greed Racer 12:00 holy shit Luke "Westerwhat" Westaway of Outside Xtra and Oxventure fame (and known F-Zero enjoyer)?????? What a fucken crossover, goddamn
I would say I’ve had sheer bad luck getting bumped as I hit a ramp and being flung half a mile off the map, but honestly there was a greed element there, too.
i think my favorite part of this video is simple confusing the bonus bumpers for players who are really spiteful despite getting the bonus bumper mode at least 3 times earlier in the video
Simpleflips, I say this with respect: You *need* to stop greeding lmao But if you've GOTTA play the frontrunner play Golden Fox. It gets a million boosts each lap and heals to full after but has low top speed and is weak AF in exchange
That first day was such a vibe, racing and watching simple simultaneously while Redoin and Breadbug and Waverace 64 songs were playing and occasionally getting in the same lobby as him.
Hell yeah, this was the video I was waiting for since the second I saw the announcement. Can't wait for random F-Zero 99 sessions in between Mario Maker levels
Literally this whole video past the tutorial is "I shouldn't have boosted" followed by exploding followed by cutting to another race where simple comes out of the gate and immediately starts overboosting from the starting line
I'm only halfway through the video but I wanted to give you some advice simple: If you want to boost a LOT you should actually use the golden fox, because the "Recovery" stat effects how much boost you recover during pit stops which means you essentially get almost a full bar of boost each lap, and can guarantee a full bar if you go slightly slower in the pit.
I know it has nothing to do with this video but that person asking "Do you think it'll last longer than Mario 35?" is fucking me up. Did people forget that game was literally dead when it was announced. Like they announced when it was going to go offline when they first showed it off. I guess if no one ever played F-Zero 99 then yeah but seeing how Tetris 99 JUST got a new theme and F-Zero is fully owned by Nintendo unlike Pac-Man, it's a pretty safe bet they won't just up and kill it. idk it just kinda boggles the mind the way people talk about this game sometimes.
saw this guy chain smoking cigarettes behind a denny's and when i glanced his way for half a second he screamed 'THEY MAKE ME GO FASTER' and then threw up blood
If only Ethan would wake up, we wouldn't have to be in this tiny simulation with clearly impossible things like KOing someone you know in F-Zero 99 happening
this video is one of advanced difficulty, it is only for experienced simpleflips watchers. intermediates will suffer hernias from the galactic throwing displayed. viewer discretion is advised
He needs to simply not see the names and not think about what he's doing. Then, playing on instinct and flow, he will be able to win. And you don't try to hit things, just dodge
Simple’s playstyle is, like, the exact opposite of mine, it’s amazing. The amount of times he boosted at a time he really shouldn’t’ve and died ten seconds later is petrifying Not to say he’s wrong for playing like that, he’s obviously a very risk/reward type player and he even got some wins long before I have, but I’m surprised how long it took him to realize how important it is to conserve his power ...Though keep in mind this is coming from a Wild Goose main who boosts 1.5 times per lap and usually only gets top 25s
