Dood… this hack is incredible! You single-handedly breathed life back into F-Zero for me. I love the SNES F-Zero so much but it was getting a bit too easy. This has a wonderful balance of difficulty to it.
I definitely appreciate the kind words! I'm glad it's had such a positive effect on you. It's crazy how something that was keeping me occupied during quarantine is still getting attention a year and a half after uploading😊
Now this is POLISHED. I don't want to watch any of the video because I actually want to experience this hack blind. It looks extremely well done! Great job on this!
This looks amazing! The tracks look really fun and refreshing, and MAN those palettes are so pleasing to the eyes. Can't wait to sink some hours into this.
Looks quite good ! I like the details on how Red Canyon's palettes goes darker far from the track, making it look like the tracks are higher in altitude. Speaking of Red Canyon, I noticed a slight oversight : at 20:17, one of the light strips is bigger than it should, so it might be a misalignment. This isn't a problem though since the original Red Canyon tracks had such oddities :P
I will have to check when I get home from work, but I'm already sure it's better than mine🤣 I'm only *okay* at F-Zero as a whole. I can beat Master on the original game at a bare minimum.
I'm curious if you are still working on this, and what your plans are. Imagine you had a friend who was an artist and composer, who wants something for a portfolio with no pressure that he could work on in his free time.... what would you want to see? I recognize some of these tracks from Maximum Velocity... would you want vehicles from those games to replace them in the style of the original SNES game? Would you like the music that went with these tracks re-arranged? There is also the possibility with the wonderful palette choices to make brand new vehicles and original music.... if the skybox was changed as well the combination would feel like a completely new sequel. That's the option I would choose, but I'm curious what you think.
I'll say yes and no, I recently went back to try to see if I could rework Red Canyon and that kinda failed. I also went back a while ago to increase the difficulty of the CPU machines. After struggling working on this again, I started sketching out a sequel to this one but it's coming along very slowly. I'm either hitting a bit of creative block or thinking of courses too crazy for the memory capacity to the game.
@@kawaiigreenmage , well let me know within the next few days. All I would need is a very detailed list of whatever arbitrary limitations I have to constrain myself to. I also wouldn't trust me to put something back into the ROM without some sort of tool.
Awesome F-Zero hack!! Really great new color palettes that give this game a different feel. Nice and fun new course designs too. Will it be compatible with the Hacker Vilela's FastROM? Looking forward to new updates on this hack!
Thanks, I'm glad you appreciate it! Actually I had no idea that FastROM was a thing until you mentioned it. I went ahead and looked it up and it's pretty neat. As you can see I'm not very well-versed in this kind of stuff. This is more or less my first experience trying to do anything to a game at all😂
Hey this hack is pretty awesome, I really love the design of the tracks, my only complaint so far is the color of the cars, they look weird, it would have been better to have the original colors but the tracks are pretty awesome.
Thanks for the feedback! And yeah I can see where you're coming from on the vehicle colors. This was my first experience with editing color palettes, so I was just seeing what I can change without thinking whether or not I *should* and just left it as is. I may change it back in an update or just come up with better colors.
@@kawaiigreenmage Please include 2 patches in the update, one with your improved car colors and the other one with the original colors, I want to play this hack but those car colors does not get me in the mood. Keep up the good work mate.

@@kawaiigreenmage we could even FZVS race it someday. Just a thing though, it seems you got the snail lap glitch on Big Blue. Did something happen with the checkpoints at the finish line? The glitch may happen due to a slight misplacement in the last checkpoint, which should be on the same axis as the finish line (or you could try moving the checkpoint slightly) but other than that nice work!
@@AlejandroChannel ohhhh yeah. You're right! I just checked it and I put it just slightly past the starting marker for whatever reason. But it didn't quite seem to fix it all the way. I'm moving around some of the dots on the markers and turned up the turn performance in some areas to help and it seems to have fixed it mostly. Im kinda fixing some problem areas on other tracks now while I'm at it. And definitely for FZVS! I've actually been wanting to give that a shot but I haven't gotten around to it quite yet.
This is an emulator called bsnes HD that greatly improves the quality of mode 7 on ROMs. I was using it via Retroarch. (Hopefully this comment translates well for you😁)
