Argentine driver Franco Colapinto participated in a video shared by the Williams team, for which he races in Formula 1, through its social networks and showed surprising details of the new steering wheel of his FW46. “It's incredible,” said the 21-year-old driver from Buenos Aires.
The Spaniard took part in a talk with one of the British team's engineers, Luke Dardis, in which he reviewed the latest technology of his single-seater. “We're going to do a new series with Williams so they get to know something new. Of course it's my step-by-step from F2 to F1. We have one of our best engineers here to explain to them what they want to know. We have the driver here today. So he will explain a little bit how it is and what are the differences we need to know,” said Colapinto, who has three races in the Maxima, before revealing some secrets.
In turn, Dardis detailed the most striking aspects of the steering wheel, which at first glance generates a significant impact due to its multiple buttons that facilitate the driver's work. “I've been through a number of events with it now, so Alex (Albon) is very familiar. But for you, Franco, it's quite different to what you just experienced only a few weeks ago. Almost everything electronic with the car can be controlled while you're sitting corner to corner,” he pointed out.
Later, he commented to the Argentinean: “You can make differences. So you can make changes while you're on the track. You could make a big change between the corners so I can change the brake and you could also make brake balance changes from the wheel.”
