No penalty. That's a racing incident because you couldn't control the fact that you would hit Verstappen. It was just unlucky for yourself and Verstappen.

I think it was fair racing, you were side by side. If you had gone further left, Max would have been in the wall, further right and your race would have been over. What happened was the only outcome, hence no pen.

I don't think you should take a penalty. Racing incident if you ask me.

The Safety Car problem is not only for you, Ben. I got the regular game from a store a week after rrlease and have yet to see the Safety Car. The only time the Safety Car seems to come out is when the player is involved in an incident (I have tested this by causing a heavy crash myself). When it's only the AI involved, it just doesn't come out.

I am honestly completly baffled and confused why so many people say no penalty. And I like hard racing and all, but Ben had more then enough space to not drive into the wall, and yes I saw the RedBull squezzing Ben, but that is allowed and there was as I said more than enough space if you look at 25:10 and even more at 25:11. And there is also more then enough space to the left of Verstappen, so both cars could have easily got through, but Ben hit the wall and then bounced off and hit Verstappen, ruining his race, and if it had gone for one more lap, probably his own too. But the important thing is that Ben could have easily avoided contact, but through HIS driver mistake he hit the wall and bounced and then ruined another drivers race. So yeah, I am 80% certain that would have been a penalty in real life too. Just as an Edit: I am saying in real life he sould have gotten a penalty, but if the game doesnt hand you one, you should just play on ;p

After watching the incident multiple times and in slow motion, coming from my experiences in kart racing, there are scenarios you get into where the outcome can be decided by mere inches. I believe this incident can be broken in to two phases, the entry of the corner and what happened mid corner. On the entry to the corner, there was some driver error (however small) miss-judging the distance you had to the wall on drivers right. In my eyes it is a small mistake made in the heat of a battle and something that can be overlooked. Instinctively you immediately turn the wheel slightly to the left, coupled with the contact with the wall, set your trajectory and make you commit into the corner at a much shallower line than expected with Verstappen still, if anything, ahead of your car. Moving into the second phase of the incident (turn in to mid apex), at this point, there is half a cars width between your car and the wall to your left, you come of the brakes sooner than Verstappen (or braking effectiveness is hampered by the damaged front wing) and start to turn into the corner, aiming for a regular racing line apex, ultimately cutting across Verstappen and leaving him no space but the wall. I honestly find it hard put full blame on Ben, however the accident was caused by a mistake of Ben's. I don't know what to make fully of the accident, I think its a racing incident more than anything, maybe a "5 second time penalty for causing a collision" if your really harsh on yourself, but a racing incident seems more fitting.

Fantastic race again. Absolutely love your channel, I’ve been watching for a few years now. I think you should take the grid penalty because if you didn’t hit Max it would have made it so much harder to overtake him; also more of a challenge for you in the next race. Have you though about if you’re going to be with Renault in the next season or move on ? If you win the championship I think you should move to Mercedes and do another ‘return to glory’.

Definitely no penalty, racing incident and really the wall should not be jutting out like that.

If I take a look at 25:10 you can see Max move over squeezing you into the wall that's sticking out.

On the Safety Car. I suspect it’s not coming out because the race length is too short. Have you tried comparing this race length (is it 25%?) to a longer one to see if the SC is deployed?

Yeah, no penalty needed. The context speaks for itself: you go so fast sometimes split second reactive choices just aren't enough. And none of you both had an unfair advantage over each other, both lost your front wings. Plus it's podium fight, ofc you'd go in full send. Keep at it, mate. Much kudos. ;)

Could be right about it being an early version of the game issue, I’m only at Germany in the first season and have already had 6 full safety cars including one in each of the last 4 races...

Ben I know the diffculty is not balanced in that game. But can you stay on one and not changeing so many times? Maybe on harder races, you get even better.

IRL, the safety car doesn’t come out for mechanical failures most of the time, If I recall correctly, all the safety cars this season have been for crashes, which up until your last episode hadn’t happened too much. What I’m saying is you can expect very few safety cars until Codies program the AI to crash on occasion. It would be unrealistic to deploy a safety car for a car parked on the run off area with an engine failure, because IRL they wouldn’t. Just an opinion.

it's a race incident but I'm sure that Chritian Horner heard "He completly turned into me" from Max.

We have a saying here in the States: Checkers or wreckers. Last lap of the race, you can't afford to give a millimeter cause you know the other drivers won't...and if there's coincidental contact like there was here, then that's just good, hard racing. I share the sentiment that it would've been a lot better to beat Verstappen on even terms, but that's just part of the game. No need to penalise good, hard racing.

Could the safety car thing be a bug based on the difficulty? I play on 70% AI with no assists and I get safety cars almost every time where one would be appropriate. Maybe it's because your difficulty is so high and the game takes the full SC away to make it more difficult? I don't know, just guessing.

In my view, Verstappen purposely squeezed you into the wall, at the kink in the wall he even swerved toward you (arguably for line through the corner) but I don't believe it was. NO penalty should be given, it was a racing incident, however Verstappen should get the blame

The problem for a lot of games company is that they gave u the early copy for promoting and not for development. That's where the problem is. A games company need to give the early copy while in development. Thats where u know what gamers think about the games and what needs to be done to make the games even better than what it is now.

No penalty, I'm no Stewart but if you watch Verstappen before the turn, he turns into you flushing you into the wall, leaving you nowhere to go. You had the correct racing line to me Verstappen didn't hold his line. Great race P3 well deserved!

Codemasters' fault. If this happened in real life this would unquestionably be a racing incident, but the AI has not been updated here and at Monaco since 2015 when the cars were nowhere near this wide. Corners like this and the Nouvelle chicane are basically a death sentence if the AI goes to your inside as they simply think there's much more room than there actually is, because there was enough room back in 2015 and 2016. Here it results in you hitting the wall, whereas at Monaco they're the ones hitting the wall.

I don't understand. Currently started S3 in almost maxed out Haas. In S1 and S2 I was in Williams. AI was 106%. Some tracks I could qualify p17 or higher but most of the time I was matching Kubica on 106% AI and getting p19 in quals in the worst team. Now I am in maxed out Haas and I am struggling to reach top10 in quals. What's going on? Even dropped AI level to 104 and still struggling. Went to grand prix mode, 106 AI in Merc and first one shot run in Australia I qualified p3 being few tenths behind pole. In career mode i was losing over a second to pole time. In maxed out Haas and 104 AI. What's wrong? Is it bugged or my car setups are not working for the maxed out car? Why in GP mode I can handle 106 AI but in career suddenly i am struggling on 104%? For a short time I was managing 107 AI in Williams being really close to Kubica.
