Think I'd rather finish every race with 1 laps worth of fuel left than have to spend the whole race lifting and coasting you're surely losing more than you're gaining

he started the race with a lap over, having as minimum fuel as possible is important. considering his last few races he was always able to finish, yes japan is a fuel burner but starting with a lap over is not that insane

In his defence, Suzuka is quite a fuel drainer so here it’s an easy mistake to make. But yeah, it’s becoming a worse problem than race strategy at this rate

Underfuels the car AGAIN, hits his teammate, does everything he can to help other teams pass his teammate, runs out of fuel at the line and Bottas still delivers. Horrible drive for the team, incredible by Bottas to manage to score still lmao. That's Ocon levels of team terrorism

Fun Fact: On 100% races the fuel burn on this track is so bad that even with all 110kg of fuel on board my data reckoned that was good for 52.4 laps of fuel in a 53-lap race. I was saved by a mid-race Safety Car, and even then I had less than half a lap of fuel remaining by the end.

At the beginning of the race you reduce the fuel load in your car to go faster. You basically get it done to the wire in terms of fuel requirement. Half way into the race, u start lifting and coasting, losing speed and time coz of the lack of fuel. Might as well keep that fuel load and attack all the time. Why waste time in trying not to waste time. It’s funny how u setup your car in terms of fuel every single race to make your life tougher. Just fuel up and attack. Giving up 30s to save fuel vs giving up a little time in comparison by keeping fuel loads

Last game around Japan, he over fueled by 4 laps in CS I believe for the 100% race, come the end he was only +0.7 over, with 3 full safety cars to help him save fuel. He must of known fuel would of been an issue, right? So granted it's half distance and a different game but surely he must of known it would of been a high fuel burner.

Guys, his problem is not underfueling. He started with 1.3 laps of extra fuel. The problem is he's not doing the practice programs to get better fuel estimates.

You should’ve over-fuelled your car by at least 2.5 laps. And even if you run out of fuel, consider running lean. If you have more fuel left over, you can run rich.

Ben, taking a lap extra fuel is not going to make the difference, it really won't. it might actually help you since you won't have to lift and coast at all and can just push all out. I never understood why you want to go lighter and having to safe fuel. If it's for content fair enough, but why not put a difficulty mod in then or something.

It's funny cause I started my career with Williams and the first team that approached me was Kick Sauber. 😂 As for the race: Suzuka is a bit of a bogey track for me. Those esses in the first sector are a nightmare; I can either get through quickly but flying by the absolute seat of my pants, or find a more consistent and reliable way through but it's not competitive. At least it's actually a tricky track to overtake on, so in the race I basically made lunges to get in front and then park the bus on the back straight. 😂

So, Japan seems to once again have fuel consumption related issues. Fantastic. That's what, 3rd game in a row now? Also I think you should always keep attention to what the suggested fuel target is in race strategy program, it can be pretty accurate and useful - I think the game gave you a favor by overfueling you a lot again and you didn't take it :D

f1 24 feels more like f1 20 (good). f1 22 was spinfest, 23 was sluggish fest (slow behemoth tractors feeling). 24 is too easy feeling, but better as closer to being able to control the car
