For real. The V6 has slowly grown on me, but the V8s, 10s and 12s can't be beaten when it comes to sound.

The V8 where the most whiney sounding engines of all of them. What makes people here so happy about them?

@@pervenchemusic a table saw also sounds loud and aggressive but it's an awful sound. And I wouldn't even call those V8 aggressive. They have a very feminine sound unlike all other F1 engines.

He wasn't fighting to turn the car. That would be understeer. He liked oversteery cars and that was just the way he drove with those cars as you can see in this video. By having that oversteer, he was able to rotate the car faster and carry more speed through corners than his opponents. And what you call fighting is just him using inputs to correct microslides while the car almost rotates itself due to him using weight distribution, throttle etc. to rotate as quickly as possible. I guess, today's cars are so stable and today's tire so nimble (they can't really be pushed into sliding without overheating) that seeing an onboard from the early 2000's, especially one with MSC is seen as fighting. That was just a normal thing for us fans back then. And the way he rotated the car with the oversteer is why he was so special. He did things with his car that no other driver replicated and that's how he became a legend. You have just seen a glimpse of his genius. That's why most older F1 fans won't call a Hamilton the GOAT because they have still experienced the magic that Schumacher, Senna or whoever excused while drivingy

@@jama211I'm sound engineer by trade, i don't hear things the same and far more things are far more annoying to me. One of those are high pitch revving engines that when recorded just a bit wrong that then sound like a bag of angry bees and not ferocious tigers reeady to kill. Now, hearing those things LIVE is entirely another thing as there is tremendous amounts of low end growl in them that doesn't translate at all to home and thus: they sound WEAKER than low revving growlers do. It is largely a technical problem. F1 actually did quite a lot of research to find the right sound for the current engines so that they sound great for audience too, the microphone placements and their types, and how it is mixed is amazingly well done, unlike... in the 90s and 2000s. This time, they asked US, the fans what sound was best, the same with camera angles, onboard FOV etc... So, still think it is insane?

This was practise... there wasn't a live onboard cam until 1985 German Grand Prix, before then, they just mounted a filmcamera ontop of the car during practise, like the one you saw in the 1980 clip...

@@warlocknote Who said that? 1991 WAS the V12 era. Honestly probably my favorite F1 season to watch parts of. 1990 is where at least audio wise, there was a decline until you hit the 70's.
