The Saturday of the Miami Grand Prix turned out to be complete chaos and has resulted in a fight between multiple drivers and the FIA after some questionable decisions during the sprint race.
This started with Fernando Alonso stating that he feels that the Miami Grand Prix weekend shows how "nationality matters" in F1 investigation outcomes, and he intends to address his concerns with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. But this wasn’t the only questionable decision during this weekend, and an important note, Lewis Hamilton was involved in almost all of them.

I think Alonso is correct, not in this instance, i think this instance is along the lines of many other first lap incidents that haven't had penalties, and he does seem to hold quite the grudge/bitterness to Hamilton. I also don't think its about Alonsos nationality, but i do think they are harsher on him that most others, and i feel like because he pushes boundaries often (on and off the track) and always has, he seems to have failed relationships all over the grid... but they are trying to make an example of him sometimes.

No, alonso just takes the piss a lot of the time. His penalty in Australia was 100% deserved. He drove unpredictably and as a result caught out a fellow driver. It was essentially a brake check into a fast right hander. How he doesn't see how it was penalty worthy is beyond me. There is no Spanish bias. It's just him. He causes these situations lol.

@@ponchis1966 you're a dumbass... Sainz locked his rear brakes causing him to oversteer. He had to turn right to catch the car causing him to go straight. This led to him driving over piastri's front wing. Piastri did nothing wrong. No switchback was attempted either. He didn't turn into sainz either. Sainz simply did not make the corner. Sainz was the one who made the mistake and that's why he was penalised.
@XenonArcher
@XenonArcher Месяц назад
@@ponchis1966 he didn't do any of what you said. Are you blind? Are you biased? Maybe you're Spanish? Cus that would make sense. You'd obviously see no wrong from Carlos if you were. Carlos is the driver that made a mistake. He locked his rear brakes so his rear end stepped out. He had to turn right (as he entered a left hand turn) to catch the slide. This meant he went straight on. This is not a normal line. He 100% deserved the penalty. He caused the contact with piastri. Not the other way around so it was hardly self inflicted. You can argue that piastri should've avoided it. But he clearly respected Carlos enough to assume he could maintain full control of his car in that moment. But unfortunately, sainz didn't maintain full control of his car. He made a mistake and drove over piastri's front wing as a result
@ponchis1966
@ponchis1966 Месяц назад
@@XenonArcher correct it was not the normal racing line. They were racing. That’s my point. They are on the ragged edge of traction. Every race driver goes over it a little. Max straight lined a chicane by himself. Obviously over the edge of traction. Oscar was on the limit when Carlos made his first attempt to pass, Carlos drove wide to avoid any contact. My point was that Oscar turned in like normal. I didn’t want to see Oscar just let him through. I tuned in to see a race. If he had all the upgrades Lando had he probably would’ve won. He kept Max within 3 seconds. He qualified higher. I don’t think any driver deserves to win. What I don’t like is when race car drivers are penalized for racing. No one likes the K Mag tactics. The answer is to pass him. It might require an ugly overtake but I would prefer that.

"If you no longer go for the gap, you are no longer a race..." Ayrton Senna. N\For me the all thing is Stroll fault. He's the one who turned against Fernando, sandwiching him at the Apex. And why did Alonso defended so strongly against his teammate at turn one of lap one, leaving the apex unprotected, is another question I'd like to ask him. And I don't understand how he can say that Lewis wasn't in control of his car. Lewis front axel was at the same level as Ferando front axel way before the apex, and he didn't lock or lost grip at the apex. that was his corner, he was going to make that pass. And I don't think there would have been contact if Lance hadn't runed on Fernando, pushing him against Lewis. If anything it is Lance's fault, but Ferando can't say that, so he's going to blame Lewis.

I do think the FIA is inconsistent in the way they apply penalties, but I also think KMag has taken it too far as of late. If they do not crack down on this, F1 will turn into a full contact sport with back of grid drivers being forced to break any and all rules just to hold up faster drivers. If rules are broken to keep a car behind, they should be forced to let the car past. FIA is regularly very lenient towards certain drivers, especially Max. That said, Stroll 100% deserved the penalty for rear ending Daniel. He was not looking at the car ahead, he was looking at the Apex.

Once again,...you open a can of worms in " interpretation " here.... as it is, interpretation of the rules is having a totally negative impact on racing caused by inconsistencies made by the racing stewards over not only race weekend but the overall standings of both teams and driver for the season. I believe that any penalty given should be served immediately once decided by the stewards, not at the end of races......this already happens in some series and the resuld would be less infringements taking place.

Letting K-Mag get away with just time penalties encourages the spread of similar tactics. He should have got a point on his licence. If Hamilton were not so protected by stewards, he would think twice about pulling off moves like that one. They're not Bumper Cars. I see the gap on the inside and go for it, if I hit the others it doesn't matter, I won't be the one going off on the outside, even if I am risking damaging my car. At the time where Rosberg was at the Merc team, within the same race, Hamilton could pull of a move against Rosberg, but Hamilton was not penalized. Few laps later Rosberg would be penalized for the exact same move against Hamilton. No wonder Rosberg left the unsportsmanlike F1. Not the most accurate depiction. Alonso had already collided into Stroll before Hamilton made contact with Alonso.

That's because he saw that Hamilton was making a risky move and wanted to give him the maximum space available, but sadly Stroll was nearby so yeah

Alonso trying to deflect his poor driving is pathetic. He causes crashes and never takes any blame. Perhaps he is still whinning about the F2 engine that is now the fastest on the track.

USA to spearhead a new grand prix---open wheel, then race. Mirror the intent of the old Chaparral cars----go like hell and the fans will love it! F1 will become Fnone or continue to become F-crybabies

Got to keep the race under control, can not go unpenalized. He was defensive , but also dangerous.

Anyone who saw onboard can see Alonso was going to push Stroll into Norris even if Hamilton wasn’t racing. Typical Alonso to deflect responsibility to someone else then cry like a baby about discrimination.

Well that'is unusual...Alonso complaining and blaming, and using politics and whining post race, to advance his position. Too bad he took his teammate out. His team could of changed his pit strategy after ordering his teammate to crash again.

Alonso almost killed a driver.... And you compare it with a collision with 3 cars.

There needs to be a set panel of stewards who attend every race. Until that happens stupid decisions will be made every week. Oh, everyone stop bogging up Norris. He hasn’t won a race after well over 100 starts and never will win a race. He just isn’t good enough, the 2 Alpine drivers are better than him and the other rising? star, Albon isn’t any better than Norris either. Too many drivers out there that can’t get a drive that would do a better job.
