Not taking it away from him, but there is a few that have done this. Humbling.. Senna's one back then is crazy.. especially with 0 safety precaution's that they have now.
Seb was actually upset that day he was saying that rain condition they should stop the race & a few minutes later Lando crashes that's why he stopped 👍🙏
its just general care for all drivers on the grid. in the modern era even the fiercest on track rivalry never takes precedence over the care each driver has for one another
Yeah, although I can imagine that all pilots have the same phrase run through the head every time there’s a big enough crash to cause concern for the pilot involved.. ‘please no, please be ok’ as no driver wants death to visit any race…
That tire swinging over the car makes me appreciate the halo more, can’t imagine F1 losing such a young talent like Lando, I wouldn’t know if I could still watch racing after potentially something like that, thank you engineers
Landos head being down forward made that crash even more scary to see, been watching F1 since 1981 and that sight of a driver unconcious or worse is heart in throat moment no matter who the driver is.
I was never really a Vettel fan until his last few years. Him slowing to check on Lando just made me finally appreciate him even more. Like Grosjean crash, this accident was a testament to the safety of a modern F1 car. I don’t know what speed Lando was going when he crashed but would have easily been 200km/h. And he walked away.
Yeah ok we didn't get a race that season at Spa, it was the right decision NOT to race due to poor conditions and thank God they did or something far far worse could have happened. Thankfully we still have Lando. Racing is dangerous. Massive respect to all racing drivers.
I do like the fact that after the crash, even when he knew Lando had given the thumbs up, Carlos left the media pen and went straight to the infield care center to wait for Lando to get there. Lando almost literally is Carlos' adopted baby brother.
You can see the fear and concern in Sainz's eyes. Drivers might battle it out on track, but they all seem to respect and in most cases like the other drivers
I ve been watching f1 sice 2008 when i was 9 and this was the best thing i ve witnessed, Seb stopped with no hesitation to check if he was ok, i m sure that if Lando didnt show that thumbs up, Seb would ve been out of the car in seconds to help by any means. It s so touching, makes you love this sport even more❤
They may get physical sometimes off track and on, they may say some uncomplimentary things about each other on or off camera, but in the end they have enormous respect for each other. They all know how dangerous their job is and like any other "normal" human, they don't want to see anyone get hurt.
When that happen that was horrible but as you can see all of them set there differences aside and focused on what rreally mattered which was seeing if lando was okay
carlos loves lando so much those two are like brothers. remember this is after antoine was killed in almost the same spot. the fear of unknowing if his brother was alive still had to be brutal.
This is just one of those moments where it all doesn't matter if your friend isn't okay. Media are so fond of saying the drivers are enemies, but whenever someone crashes, everyone is checking up on each other. They are the only people who "get this life," and who understand how dangerous what they do is and how you could die any minute. You can see the care in their faces and in their voices, and that's what matters end of the day, not everything else.
That wasn’t fair to Lando. His lap times would’ve given him an easy podium which didn’t happen because they wouldn’t red flag it. Even I said, “So the session will only stop when someone crashes? Why else aren’t they red flagging it like what are they waiting for?!” And then.. this happened. Even I was mad so when Sebs radio came out I was yelling EXACTLY! Lando kills it at Spa.
Lando was amazing the quali and probably would’ve got pole if he survived till the end of the session and therefore won the race but alas it wasn’t to be
seb was demanding a red flag for the poor conditions and after this happened he was on the radio saying what did i say what did i say red flag!! he was very upset and thats why we love seb because he cares about the sport and its drivers.
