This drive summed up Alesi and Ferrari so well. Amazing car control, incredible sound and speed, plus excitement by the bucket-load. Then add penalties, mistakes, car failures and terrible inconsistency, which ensured they were never going to challenge for a title. But everyone loved them.
This footage is amazing ! Alesi was phenomenal driving this unsteady car in 1995. Even if the 412 T2 wasn’t the best Ferrari, it’s still my favourite of all time. This car is brutal
I love all that simplicity of older f1. How about a fully mechanical f1 without any computer aids with those V12? No artificial race elements such as drs assisted overtakes or overly fast degrading tires just real pure racing without politics and with beautiful sound.
I think the 94-95 Ferrari V12's are the best sounding engines ever. I went to Silverstone in 1994 and the Ferrari sound was immense. I remember how you could hear it going right the way around the other side of the circuit and hear the gear shifts. Pretty sure my dad has it recorded somewhere... I will have to get him to find it. One of the greatest sounds I think I have ever heard 🙂 I also used to love watching Alesi onboard, as his hand position always seemed pretty unique being so high up!
You can say one thing about the generation of driver that was Jean Alesi, his peers and contemporaries. None of them had rainbow flags on their uniforms. That’s for sure.
