Simulated 3D was only fun 16bit onward (Mega Drive Super Monaco GP) and real 3D 32bit onward (PSX). F1 spirit 3d playability was not even close it's top view ancestor: F1 Spirit...

Yeah I'd have to agree. Even on the Amiga there is nothing before 1991/92 Lotus II racing game (which is faster and smoother than any MD or SNES proper 2.5D racing game and clocks in at 30fps with zero frame drops). C64 Super Cycle was OK but only half screen and Buggy Boy was OK on the C64 too but that's not really a super fast racing game. All the other 8bit 2.5D games I can think of either have crap/non existent roadside graphics like Pole Position arcade graphics or barely make 10fps. Rad Racer isn't bad on NES but the road is a bat spartan. One of the Top Gear games is really nice but most are that pathetic childish Mode 7 rubbish and OutRun Megadrive is graphically the most impressive but it seems to be skipping alternate frames for screen updates and is no rival for Lotus II on a 1985 NTSC Amiga 1000 (nothing is below high end 486 32bit spec on PC DOS). 2.5D racing games with lots of roadside arcade quality graphics are my fav' genre of all. Spent most of my money in the arcades, Afterburner on Megadrive is a bit lame compared to the 8/16bit PC Engine port. Chase HQ is crap on every system below Sega Saturn and that's probably the best 2.5D arcade racer ever made before those super powerful mid 90s arcade racing games that still used 2.5D scaling bitmaps. WEC Le Mans on the Sinclair/Timex Spectrum is really fast but it has naff Sinclair graphics.

@@hbarcellos76 I got a used MSX in 1988 (Toshiba starter pack) out of curiosity but never really saw the nice Japanese carts until decades later. Most UK games were Sinclair port jobs for the MSX. When I find my MSX games I will do some real hardware videos on it.

The emulator is not as good as VICE and the way the videos are created from captured control inputs not FFDSHOW codecs direct to AVI in a two stage process can introduce glitches and errors (or sometimes blank static screens too). Plays nicely though.

Which emulator are you using? BlueMSX?

Look awfully glitchy...

yes I was very disappointed to play the game back in the 90s, I always thought it was a bad copy I got, in someway actually PITSTOP II at the C64, was better. Even the MSX2+ had much graphics power. A disappointment from Konami.
