This is it right here. This needs to be talked about more in the body of Christ. Declarations are NOT prayer. God is moved by prayer, not declarations. This declaration-based spiritual system comes from the WOF movement, which has its roots in New Age / New Thought principles that faith is a force, we possess what we confess because of the laws of confession, etc.
Neither Chris nor the W.O.F. movement is giving the balance teaching on the DECREEING of the WORD of GOD. DECREES are the right of kings only. So the right to DECREE belongs to the Sovereign FATHER and to the Appointed King, JESUS CHRIST. They both alone have the Authority. That's why we read in the bible about GOD, speaking through the prophets and CHRIST speaking through HIS Apostles. Matt.10:20 ; 2Cor.13:3 Literally, a DECREE is not plucked out of thin air, but is either GOD or CHRIST, speaking within us and through our mouth. A balance and true teaching is what we need.
@2centavos Mk.11:22-26 The above scriptures recorded the balance teaching of JESUS on decreeing, prayer, and forgiveness of sins. The three things are bound into one practice. If we have no forgiveness of sins in our heart, GOD will not forgive us and listen to our prayers. When we pray, believe that we have received from GOD the things that we asked for (in RIGHTEOUSNESS), and we have what we asked. Then proclaim/decree the answers to your prayer with your mouth by speaking to the situation/problem. The problem with these false ministers, is that they didn't even pray. They think that they can pluck the answers of GOD out of the thin air which is self deception. And for most of them, they are living in darkness.
The doctrines of the word of faith movement sound like a repackaged version of "law of a crackhead" (satire joke about the so-called law of attraction). I pretty much make fun of the foolishness of the so-called law of attraction.
Steven do you think Derek prince and his deliverance teachings are word of faith? I myself had crazy real manifestations of many kinds. I see them in others to when deliverance prayer is done. Often it results in peace and from what I have been learning deliverance normally ends in peace a fruit of the spirit.
Having been in the charismatic movement for years, we would spend ALOT of time in "prayer" (All night "prayers" at least once a week, mid week "prayers" plus early morning "prayers" daily). Funny enough prayer requests would be made but the response was never asking or begging God, that was wrong because we were taught "you" have the authority to "say unto this mountain (problem/issue) be removed and cast into the sea..." And because they say the gifts havent ceased, guaranteed 90% of the "prayer" time was praying" in "tongues" and the remaining 10% was engaging in "warfare" through declaring and decreeing and commissioning angels to get the work done! After the "prayer" you feel like you accomplished something, like you made a difference and the body of Christ depends on you! lol! It literally makes me cringe just to think about it though! I am thankful that God was indeed merciful on me. I continue to pray for my brothers and sisters who are still in this movement, thinking they are praying whilst all the while they are just wasting time and energy uttering empty words...sigh... Thank you for the work you are doing for the body of Christ Pst. Chris, I glean from you and have been thoroughly blessed all the way here in China with no shepherd or solid church, God has been gracious by providing resources where I can learn and grow from teachers as yourself who rightly divide the Word. Blessings.
@@chasemason5129 I used to follow Joel Osteen teaching. I used to make sure l don't miss his programme on tv. I would sit in front of a tv with my note book and my bible. I didn't used to read the bible as I believed whatever Osteen said was biblical and also the bible was so boring. I would only open it just to read the verses that he has quoted. I remember in one perticulary sermon that he taught and quoted Philippians 1:6 "and said, .....that dream, that job, that promotion,.....That's heart desires that God has placed in your heart, the bible says in book of Philippians 1:6 that he shall bring it to completion". I opened the scripture and read the verse, and bingo! Its true. God shall do it indeed and I said. Amen. Well, things didn't turned ot as i was hoping and believed. In fact my life was about to collapse. I was even a suicidal. I would cry myself to sleep on the floor as I fire God with questions as why he has failed me. I would hold my notes book opened on particular page where I recorded Osteen sermon on Philippians 1:6. I would say to God, I believe you're God and you cannot lie, but why did you lie to me?????????😭😭😭😭😭😭?????? I would then say to God, is it because you hate me so much??? Why do you hate me God??? Am I not your child??? Have I done something wrong??? If I have God, please forgive me????? This phase went for sometimes. Till one morning I woke. I reached for my mobile. I clicked on RU-vid. The first video recommendation on the screen was "why does God allows evil by John MacArthur". I have never hard of him before. I clicked on it and began to listen. How I left my bedroom from upstairs to dinning table with my bible following the teaching still a misery. Surprisingly, by the end of the video, pastor MacArthur said, "he who began a good/nobel work in heart. Work of SALVATION😳!! he shall bring it to a completion". I tell you what, after this, my heart was full of joy and peace. The bible became so interesting. I couldn't stop reading. I really cherished that day because that's the day my risen Lord Jesus Christ opened my eyes. The day I became a new creation. Glory be to our risen Lord Jesus Christ for his grace is sufficient.
I was sitting in the VA emergency room one morning, waiting with my husband. The TV was turned on to TBN and the usual line up of WOF teachers was on . Sometimes the homeless would come in to sit and warm up and look up at the TV and I thought the True gospel has to apply to all people everywhere at all times, and there wasn’t one darn thing these WOF teachers said that would help any one of these homeless people. I thank the Lord for delivering me from this mess!
These preachers continually get disproven, yet they keep their following. A clear example of "we spent so much time and money on it, it'd be a waste to let go of it now". Seriously, though, it is written that God Himself will send a great delusion for those who are adamant to have nice words rather than truth, that they shall have the power to believe a lie.You do not need power to believe lie if you have no contradictory points to compare it with; but these people's followers have the written Word, the Holy Ghost (though from experience with Word-Faithers, I have a serious question mark, concerning which spirit the charismatic "holy spirit" is) to guide them AND the failed prophecies - three witnesses against their WoF gods - and still, they will rather keep listening and believing the lie, than repent and get out of it.
Mark Dyson I am so glad I came up on some videos that debunk those televangelists while we sit home in this strange time, I know vulnerable people are reaching out and will watch these false preachers. But I don’t know how anyone can get comfort from Copeland. That man has a very scary demonic look on him. I did watch him years ago. I didn’t see that demon looking back at me. I fear that there isn’t much left of the human that is Kenneth Copeland.
I am a product of that prayer! In may I asked God to show me the truth because I noticed a couple of things in my church & God surely showed me more than I expected. God saved me from lies and deceit. And many people from my church I know think otherwise... but God doesn’t go against His Word. We practiced so much false Christian teaching and I couldn’t believe it
I grew up being taught to pray like this. I wish I could say it’s been easy to change the habit. It’s messed up so much of my thinking about God and humanity. Lord have mercy on me.
It reminds me of local advertisements for a clinic that offers "Laser therapy" to fight MPB (male pattern baldness). The "doctor" in the ad has the worst combover I've ever seen, like Homer Simpson bad.
@Revelations and Visions praise God for ur escape from these wolves. im assuming u have also heard of costi hinn? he too escaped by the grace and mercy of our triune God!
Im trying to introduce the true gospel to my mother. I recently brought up the conversation about this. The lord delivered me from this type of church that "my words have power and claim it and its yours” type believing. This past weekend on a trip out of town that I take once a month and she loves to tag along with me. I took this opportunity and I began playing F4F videos and videos of brother Paul Washer, and John Macarthur as well. She was very opened minded about it after hearing it from F4F and the pastors mentioned. Thank God the holy spirit is guiding her. Im not pushing the truth on her, I'm introducing it to her a little at a time and she's opened the dialogue to our childhood church could be wrong....THANK YOU JESUS!
That is what I call a miracle! I am still praying for mine to happen and believe Yah will come through and open blinded and deceived eyes. I am so happy for you Manny, keep up the good work.
I also recommend the audio podcasts at Issues, Etc. - issuesetc.org/archive/ (Pr. Rosebrough appears there regularly). They have a lot of very educational podcasts there.

I find it remarkable that of all the things the disciples could have asked Jesus to teach them to do, they asked the Lord, to teach them how to pray. Not multiply food, not heal the sick or raise the dead, not cast out demons - but prayer. That is how crucial prayer is for the Christian. If the Lord Jesus Christ spent nights in prayer, how much should we!
Bruce Collins ... I used to get so upset over hearing that in church several times during the sermon!! I still would...except I quit going to that church...and every time I visited a new church, if they did that 'schtick'...I left and did not go again! The church that did that used to be more solid...but then started trying to copy Willow Creek, and EVERYTHING went downhill after that!
Your videos bring me so much peace because I have returned to my first love ... the true God 😀 coming out of deception is like being freed from prison. God is in control and it feels so good 😊 I feel like I was in a cult 😩 and every time you question something and point back to the Bible they say you have a religious spirit or spirit of fear. I can’t believe I fell for it I am so sorry God!! I am beyond thankful for those of you taking the time to expose all of this. And I love the way you go through what all the verses mean so I can more easily discern.
I join you in praising the Lord for bringing you out of such terrible deception and you're absolutely right, it is the Lord who is in control and He has the absolute right and authority to do what He pleases, which is a pillow that you and I can rest our heads on.
German. Amen. 1 Korinther 8.vers 6
This teaching is so helpful especially to those of us who came out of the charismatic movement. Oh the things I've gone along with that were called prayer 🙄
Just today I was praying with a woman for peace in our house and so on. So first she started to declare and decree and stuff, then I prayed and asked humbly God for his peace in the house, among other things. Then the woman stopped me and said that I should do more warfare and throw spirits out of the house and later on we can pray for peace. Like yeah I have more authority than God himself. Because obviously when I ask the Almighty God something it's not as powerful as when I, a simple human, declare it...................... And this weekend I went to a christian seminar and in praying time all they did was declaring and decreeing, not asking God to do anything, and I was sitting there and thinking "these are just empty words.... You didn't do anything.... Just waisting my time"
Ya I was into that Declaring and decreeing thanks be to JESUS he opened my eyes through much trial ,suffering ,how wrong this is , now I pray give the LORD My sincere heart make my request and know it’s his will not mine , faith is not asking GOD to do your will but to trust him to do his will , we don’t make decrees that is GOD business ,
God bless you for exposing the false teacher and prophets. Thank you. Is so sad, I can’t even last few seconds listening to them. I know Greek is my first language. And you are right what you say about the Lord’s Prayer at Greek.
oh. my. gosh!! i’ve never been told we don’t have any authority but that it all belongs to Christ!!! i’ve ALWAYS been told we have authority!! wow!!! that first chunk blew my mind!! revelation wow praise the Lamb
No this guy is wrong. Jesus gave us authority over all the power of the enemy. In Luke 10:19 and many other places. Don't believe everything you hear. This guy is off. I don't agree with these other false teachers who declare they will be rich and stuff either. Stick to sound doctrine and read the bible. Pray the Holy spirit will give you full understanding.
Kenneth saying I DEMAND over and over reminded me of Shirley McClain (sp) on the beach in that movie shouting I AM GOD. It had just as much effect ! My kids, when very young, used to stand in front of me with massive hubris and give out about some thing I wouldn't allow them (with a mix of gibberish with a few intelligible words which puts them ahead of K Copeland's gibberish only) and it looked just like this 🤷♀️
This is my all time favorite video teaching from you. Excellent job! I used to be guilty of this because I was biblically illiterate and had been in word of faith/prosperity gospel churches my whole adult life until about a year ago. I’m so grateful and truly humbled by Gods grace to pull me out and open my eyes. Thank you so much for all your hard work in putting these together. Blessings❤️
Theologically, I stand upon every point that is being made. However, I take issue with having a jesting type approach to the unsound doctrines of certain in ministries, pointing out which ones support and teach them. It's prudent for people to be aware of which ministries are teaching unsound doctrines; the problem comes in what some may consider to be a personal attack. I don't mudslinging any better in ANY arena, no matter whose side I'm on. Present the facts, expose the false doctrines,, support with scripture, allowing scripture to prove scripture. TEACH sound doctrine! Making light of those that are using unsound doctrines illegally in their pulpits thus misrepresenting God, is entirely different. We know it's a very fearful thing to fall into the hands of an angry God, He never invited us to be angry with Him, because mortal anger never leads to godly Justice. He will...I pray, guide them to a revelation of sound doctrine in these areas where they're teaching is unscriptural, and whose biblical study practices are lacking; compared to careful, prayerful Spirit- led exegesis. With all respect. 🙏🏼
I agree with you about praying to anyone except Jesus is pagan. I am a Catholic and I co-facilitate a women's ministry group where we dig into the bible and read the Word of God and focus on Jesus. For some of my older members they struggle with not praying to saints, etc but I gently encourage to stay focused on Jesus, and always refer to the Trinity. It's a slow breakthrough but it is worth every moment.
Am I misunderstand you? Are you saying Jesus is pagan? The fact that you're Catholic alone is scary. Please come to truth. If I'm misunderstanding please forgive me
Andrew Wommack teaches that because the Bible says faith can move mountains, or that you can say to the mountain move and it will move, then under the authority of God, this implies that we can do anything if we declare it in the name of Jesus. It neglects the fact that we are to ASK, and that it has to be according to God's will, whether it will be answered. Wommack also uses Jesus cursing the fig tree and it withering as an example of how we are also able to make things happen with our words.
My mom, who dearly loves the Lord, still finds it difficult to get over this practice. Declaring and decreeing instead of praying, asking, and trusting God that He will do according to His divine and sovereign will and mercy. Also, I have to say, it will be sad if these spiritual leaders' church numbers do not take a serious nose dive when the COVID-19 period is over.
@@HaleySanchez22 it really is. I did mention it to my mom a few times, yet she is still quite set in her beliefs. This is not the only Christian "practice" that I have gently been pointing out to her. The other one, is that she still tends to pray the blood of Christ over just about everything and everyone. A final one is that, sometimes I feel that she would unintentionally use the Bible like a collection of incantations. I say this, because like a lot of good hearted Christians, she believes that if one speak a certain prayer, using specific Bible verses, God will heed her request. In a nutshell she almost uses God's Words against Him. That is how I see it. To me, I would stand on God's Word as a testimony that He IS good and He IS faithful. And because of that, I can go in front of Him in faith, with the comfort of knowing that, however God answers my prayer, it will always be to my eternal benefit in Him.
@@deegee8023 Christ shed His precious blood for us on the Cross of Calvary. Once you have been saved, you are permanently covered by His blood. There is no need, or reason, to ask for it again. The blood of Jesus now stands as evidence for you, in front of the Father, that you have been made righteous through Christ alone. If you died before being saved, His blood would have stood as evidence against you, in that the Son of God shed His blood for you, yet you rejected the only way to eternal salvation.
Beautiful work here Chris... especially the part near the end with the Canaanite women. It’s so awesome to know that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and hears our petitions and prayers.
Thank you Jesus for the work you do through Chris. If it is your will Lord, let me comprehend and grow in my learning and relationship with you.I’m a newly born daughter of you Lord and I ask humbly that I discern and serve you in all ways ,Always,Amen.Thank you Chris for your discernment and great sense of humour in your videos. You have helped my son and myself to understand so much.God bless brother✝️
Thank you for this video. So much in it. The most helpful and profound part was just hearing "it's okay to pray the Lord's prayer as it is". I have heard, too much, that I cannot do that, as somehow it doesn't count. I didn't really see how holey that argument was until you repeated it. It is silly, isn't it? I love the Psalms and often find myself praying in the middle of reading it because it says what I'm going through. Thank you for this encouragement.
This is one of my favourite videos you’ve ever done Chris. Your knowledge and heart was so evident in every word you spoke. The end portion when you were going through a few examples of prayer found within the Bible were so encouraging to me, especially during this season. Thank you and God bless you!
I found a small statue of St Joseph in my flower bed this week. Moved here 14 years ago and the house had been on the market for over a year. I had never heard of this till some Catholic friends explained it. I smashed it and it felt like a reformation moment lol. Coincidence that you mentioned this practice.
I live in a house that we bought from the local Catholic Church. We’ve lived here 14 years, they left a statue of mary in the front yard, it’s been out there on the corner of our fence all these years. Should I destroy it? I think I should but what do y’all think ?
A lot of the Authority issues stem from the books by Kenneth Hagin and Andrew Womack called The Believers Authority. You should do a break down of this book sometime. Would love to know your thoughts 💭 Love F4F! Keep fighting the good fight!!
Gareth Abbey PRAISE BE TO GOD!!! I was delivered last year from that through an ex BSSM students testimony AND The American Gospel film. Then found F4F and the same happened to me! All glory be to God! And yes, JMac is a favorite of mine to watch! Blessings
I too would LOVE a breakdown of that book. A church I went to previously did a book study group on it and we started it but never finished out the class for one reason or other. Pretty sure it’s shoved somewhere back on one of my shelves still as I’ve just been introduced into all of this within the last year
Wait I keep hearing a few people saying you are supposed to “rebuke” illness you just have to practice it like they rebuke everything from a tiny cut to a headache to whatever other ailment. They say “I rebuke the headache and it goes” stuff like that. Is rebuking illness really a magical prayer formula that makes you heal all illnesses
Amen Brother! I love your teaching according to God's Word! Thank you so much Chris. I await to shake your hand one day brother and say, "Thank You" personally. In Jesus' Name!!!
This just blessed me and touched my spirit so much, I don’t even have words. Thank you so much for this. I have struggled so much with prayer and understanding how it works (because I was taught for over 20 years to decree and declare and speak into existence, yada yada ya).
Hi I keep hearing people say you can just rebuke illness and rebuke poverty and it’s a 100% guaranteed prayer formula that makes God answer. Like people on RU-vid saying “I rebuke my headache and it goes” “it’s the most powerful way to pray” etc. like they’re saying if you got hit by a car you could just rebuke your damages and get up perfectly fine. Please tell me what you think of this I’m having anxiety over this like I know some “secret information that could save peoples lives and we’d never need headache medicine again” I sound crazy but I have an anxiety disorder so pls don’t judge. I just thought Gods will couldnt be manipulated and he was sovereign and that he didn’t base it off of formulas but your heart.
But like I’ve literally heard testimonies of people who rebuked and rebuked and rebuked and it did nothing. Their family still died of cancer, they never got rich etc
Well, I was taught for over 36 years that "Declaring" and "Decreeing" were the ways that we should pray. Since September 1984, I have had this "hammered" into my head at one time or another. "Something told me" that a lot of their teachings were wrong. That "something" was SOMEBODY, the Holy Spirit, Who was trying to "guide me into all Truth.". It took me "awhile" to get out of there, but I finally made it into a more Biblical Church...Yayy.......PTL.......
This is a good video. You spent more time in Scripture than in the halls of the false teachers. I’m glad you spent some time on the Lord’s Prayer. I had to memorize it by age six. It’s a fairly long piece to always be able quote it completely and accurately. At some point I began to think that what I’m asking for already is or will happen whether or not I ask. Even non believers eat every day. One of the disadvantages of reading a translation is that translation includes a level of interpretation. Why do I pray “Your will be done.”? It’s going to happen. Some of your other comments helped. But I would like to hear more discussion on the Lord’s Prayer.
Another great video. I love the way Chris breaks down the Greek grammar to show what’s happening in the text. As someone with a Masters in applied linguistics, I just sit there soaking it all up. Bliss!
Hey Chris, I posted this in the chat, but it bears repeating here: What bothers me the most about the "decreeing/declaring" is that it's not just people in charismatic/pentecostal denominations who are doing this now. I'm seeing people associated with typically "non-charismatic/pentecostal" denominations (Baptist, Nazarene, Methodist, etc.) who use the "decree/declare" language as well. The rot is spreading into denominations outside of the "usual suspect" denominations.
Kenneth Carrera when you say you declare/decree what do you mean? Do you think it’s something God asks us to do? If they see the issue ask them what we should do instead? All of a sudden you aren’t insulting them at all just identifying an issue and talking about it.
@@kenroc546 just tell them you are concerned about what you are seeing in your church in term of these things coming in and becoming common place and let them put 2 and 2 together.
thank you for this message. my mom, and brother has since passed. they followed the WOF movement as does my sister, whom I pray for daily. my dad didn't believe in Jesus Christ, and he was taught doing wrong was ok as long as you didn't get caught. he has passed, and I'm not sure whether my parents and brother are in heaven. My mother and siblings wanted me to believe the way they did, but I honestly had great difficulty with it. The things they said wasn't in the Bible and it just felt wrong in my spirit. I thank God for the man in my life my husband, father of my children. he is a strong Bible teacher in our church Sunday school and a devote believer in Jesus our Lord. I hope and pray God will save my sister and all our grandchildren. Thank your again. I know this an older video, but the message is so spot on. May the Lord richly Bless you. :)
Thank you so very much for this. I'm a reformed Christian, but as a late in life christian with deep influences of new age views of God and prayer, I've struggled with my prayer life because I often don't know whats on my heart nor do I trust it to know what I ought to ask for or confess. Your thorough teaching opened up freedom to simply trust that God knows and the Lord's prayer and the psalms are enough, as are prayers written out by faithful Christians in devotionals and books on prayer. Your teaching trust was tremendously encouraging to me. I'm learning to trust that God knows my poverty and has no intention of leaving me where I am, nor is he disappointed in me because of it. God bless you brother.
Thank you PS Chris. I'm having to re-learn so much after 20+years in the WOF false gospel. For my husband to. The American gospel helped me to see...the Holy Spirit was at work. I sobbed in repentance & renounced that movement & making God into something He wasn't. I'm very choosy now to whom I listen to & alert to false teachers! Thank you. God bless you.
My youngest son was severely bullied and required intensive therapy for over a year because of it. He got about as low as you can get and still be breathing. He never said the "s" word - but he did say, randomly, that he didn't want to go to heaven yet because I wouldn't be there with him. (It was in this time that I showed my son Steven Bancarz's video about Identity in Christ - I messaged him thanking him and shared why it was so helpful in my then-son's-9 year old life, never got a reply so I hope he saw it!) Anyway... in my son's therapy, mindfulness and I am statements were used by his therapist - which helped him. When God convicted my family of falsehoods (decreeing and declaring included!) in 2020, seeing Chris's clips of grown ups saying the same thing - I am this I am that blah blah... I realized then that the foundation for people getting into this unBiblical practice may have roots in childhood. Just like with my son. As a child he heard I am statements to rebuild his broken self esteem, and yet adults I see hearing I am statements and buying into it. I commented this to encourage people in contact with children - esp parents - to stick to the Bible from day one. No matter how young they are...don't encourage things that could develop into decreeing and declaring. I was ignorant and didn't realize before - but I see now and have stopped using the I am things he learned in therapy with him for this very reason.
I am not a charismatic, but I have wondered recently if the decreeing/declaring or otherwise performing miracles at your own discretion is more appealing because it means that you don't have to trust God rather than wait on His will/timing.
Thanks Chris.I so love what you do. Your clips generally make me cringe and shake my head as I was one of those sheep that was deceived. Even though I left the WOF deception years ago, certain teachings are still getting chiseled off as I watch/hear truth like your "fighting for the faith" teachings. Blessings.
Thank you for the great study. Let’s pray biblically. The problem with the decreeing and declaring type of prayer Is that it assumes the sovereignty of man and not the sovereignty of Almighty God
Thank you for your commitment to revealing the false prophets and manipulation of scripture. I am unlearning so much of this because I was in this movement for over 15 yrs. I cried out to God to know the Truth and He opened my eyes. I appreciate how you dissect false teaching line for line to the Bible in context with the original Greek or Hebrew when necessary.
Thank you for this video, Pastor Chris. I recently came across your channel and can’t get enough of the teaching. I’m almost 40 and grew up in hypercharismatic/Word of Faith churches (our pastor was friends with Benny Hinn). I had no idea for many years how wrong it was. I’ve been on a journey for the last few years of unlearning all of it and building a new foundation by studying the Word. Your videos have helped so much!
God saved me from this movement 3 years ago! A few of my family members thats still stuck in these movements thinks I am confused and on the wrong path
@@brooke4608 These were the words said by one of Job's friends who were later termed as lies by God. Job was commanded to pray and offer sacrifices for them to be forgiven.
@@brooke4608 welcome. I was helped by Andreas Wiget (please search his videos on decreeing and declaring) This WOF false doctrine is really doing harm on my marriage. My wife believes that we have power to speak things into existence. I sometimes wonder why she can't apply the same faith to declare money in our lives, yet we are financially struggling. She actually quit working
Chris M oh man I am so sorry to hear that. Honestly all I can say is pray pray pray for your wife to be delivered from that false teaching! Declaring and decreeing “prayer” is actually a form of witchcraft and manifestation, which is so demonic! I pray that your wife’s eyes are opened and she sees the truth! And yes I’ve seen that a lot in WOF teaching. People will put all their money into these types of churches thinking they’ll get rich from this declaring and decreeing, but end up going broke due to it. Others don’t take their children to doctors because they believe they can heal them with these “prayers”. Their children end up dying. It’s horrible and sad that these preachers take advantage of poor and sick people.
For many many MANY years now I’ve felt as though I do not fit in with christians. Things they do that just didn’t sit right with me. You have helped me come to the understanding that God has been showing me for a long time that I’m not the problem 🤷♂️ so much good teaching in this. Thank you for the revelation. Thank you God.
I know this may be out of context with this video, but today September 2nd, my father an old Baptist Deacon would have been 96 years old. My mother who has also gone on to glory was a charismatic Pentecostal for many years, so you can imagine the many heated theological discussions that occurred in my house. However, I used to love to see them both tag team against Jehovah's witnesses that would come to our front door. Before my mother passed away, she renounced many of the doctrinal practices of the Pentecostal church, and I have never heard her decree and declare when we would pray together. It has been 28 years and I look forward to seeing them again one day!!!
I’m so happy you made a video on this! I just recently realized it was unbiblical and have been doing research to prove it wrong to family members. God bless your ministry!
I don't think it would be classified as a sin. I just think it is the wrong attitude and disrespectful. Do you think repenting and apologizing is the same thing? I wonder...what do you think?
@@deniseadkins2901 Its been made clear to me that repentance means to turn away, which is what we do on a daily basis. We were forgiven once and for all by Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross, so we no longer have to even ask for it, because we already had it, and still have it since He died once and for all time. All of it. Even the stuff we haven't done yet. So repentance and remorse are normal to feel when we mess up. But asking for forgiveness as if we don't already have it is incorrect and unbiblical. Hebrews 10 made this distinction very clearly. I just learned this the other day when I was asking why I kept asking for forgiveness in prayer, and it was simply from not understanding the concept of Jesus' sacrifice and how it really works
@@r3mm13arts Jesus said to ask for our daily bread in the model prayer. Should we not do that either? Since we know we bought the food ahead of time? Prayer is for God and for us. It changes us. Why would the Bible tell us to pray for the repentance of sins if we weren't supposed to do it? I do it because I confess my sins daily and repent with a Godly sorrow over them. I didn't have a Godly sorrow over them before I was saved. You can pray however you want to but please don't criticize others for how they communicate with God.
@@deniseadkins2901 uh…I thought we basically said the same thing but okay. And I was just having a conversation, I wasn't criticizing…I wish we could just talk about things without you taking it personally, but I guess not…
Chris, thankyou so much for the valuable lessons on how to pray. That truly blessed me.. As a former attendee of the NAR/WOF church I find myself having to consciously stop myself from going into the patterns that we were brainwashed into practicing. Thankyou for all you do in exposing the truth.
@@brooke4608 If all of that stuff was possible, I would rebuke my Landlord, to get him off my case (for ALL time)...So far,. that doesn't work for me.......
@@caroleimani9754 haha yeah, that comment was a year ago and my anxiety and religious ocd were through the roof. By reading the Bible I’ve seen how untrue those “faith healers” are. It’s really just a money grab that preys on the sick and poor.
@@brooke4608 Yeah, I belonged to a WOF Church for over 36 years (Since Sept. 1984) They had some pretty bizarre beliefs. I like the one where the Copelands said that they could control the weather. Then Gloria said that: "We don't travel in bad weather.". If they can control the weather, why don't they just travel in bad weather anyway (Since they can "control" it)...Also, Copeland "ordered" Covid 19 out of here and said it would be gone by March 29, 2020. Well, guess what?
@@caroleimani9754 wow 36 years! What led you out of it/ what made you realize it wasn’t true? (if you don’t mind me asking) I’m very interested in the stories of former WOF members :) and yes the things people like Kenneth Copeland, Andrew Wommack, etc. Have said are truly bizarre and incredibly misleading. They treat God as their own personal genie, as if they are the gods and the true God is just there to do what they say. I even remember them saying stuff like “we are little gods” or something like that. It’s satans oldest trick in the book all the way back to the time of Adam and Eve! Satans promise that they could “be like god” if they ate from the tree. And apart from how completely heretical their teachings are, it’s so dangerous. The amount of WOF members who have died due to illness because they rejected medicine and relied on “rebuking the illness” is tragic. These preachers know they are exploiting and lying to people, but they don’t care because they get to fly in their private jets. All I can do is pray for people in the WOF movement, and even pray for the preachers, that they can come out of that and truly find Jesus for who he is. Not what he can give them.
During COVID-19, I had time to do a lot of soul searching and Bible study that I didn't time for earlier. I listened to Justin Peters, The Kozars, The Longs, Chris Roseboro (spelling?), Mike Winger, and others...I realized that I had learned some off--the--wall teaching at the WOF Church, FOR OVER 36 YEARS (That's a long time). I decided to leave gradually in July 2021, when I was 72 years old. (That means I had spent half of my life over there)...It was a little hard to break out of there at first, because I had long--time friends there. But, I decided to "legally" join a more Biblical Church on 3/30/21. Now I don't have to worry about getting spiritual indigestion anymore. But, it hasn't always been super easy, although God is Faithful.......
Apparently I raised my kid right because as soon as she said, "my authority," he squawked, "your WHAT????". When a teen has more sense than a congregation....
Wow this is like the arguments I had with my principal at my "Christian" school..after which I became a die hard athiest because I'd become anything thats not a prosperity gospel preacher.
Chris I want to praise God and thank you for your diligent preaching and teaching it of the truth from the word of God. Over the past 20 years I've been to numerous churches that were either legalistic or completely out in left field. Fortunately I do read my Bible and by the power of the Holy Spirit I was able to discern the truth from error. I know attend a pretty healthy Church but there is still some fluff and unnecessary activity coming from the pulpit. I recognize the fact that there is no perfect places of biblical worship. However we will be held accountable before the Lord for not doing our due diligence just search the scriptures as the bereans did. Since listening to you for the past month or so I have grown in my desire and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and his word. It has also been a difficult time because I have gone through a divorce which has shaken my Foundation in the Lord but it has not crumbled! Listening to you preach the word a discern the error has helped to patch the breaks and cracks in my foundational faith in Christ Jesus our lord! May Our Father in Heaven richly bless you and keep you faithful to his word for the sake of the Saints and for his glory!
Thank Bro Chris for presenting such a clear view of prayer; i have prayed like that in the past and have heard other people pray this way and their prayers and mine amounted to absolutely nothing. There is no humbleness to them. This presentation is going to change my prayer life!
Recently I started attending a new church fellowship. I've seen many things wrong over the months but recently the pastor started to get us to decree and declare. As a 20 yr vet to intercessory prayer and city prayer teams declaring is something I am very familiar with. I never personally decree but I have " declared into the atmosphere " at times. So, back to the pastor getting this small fellowship into declarations and decrees... for me now it didn't feel right. I don't pray like that anymore and my prayer is always to ask God to fulfill a need or do a thing. I went on the hunt for why it's wrong. I always feel something is wrong long b4 I get the teaching and scriptural proof it's wrong. I went to some of the other NAR exposing sites and while they showed lots of clips of NAR folk decreeing and declaring and it sounded like nails on a chalkboard, they never explained why scripturally its wrong. To hear it's not even prayer!!! But yet another tool devil uses to stop prayer... that's amazing!!! And now I understand the point. We waste a lot of time doing a lot of pointless spiritual activitie. But going thro Matt 6 to understand how it doesn't fit was so incrediblyhelpful!!!! Thank you SO MUCH Chris!!!!! Your teaching is really incredible. Seriously... Two days listening to you and I've got more things rightly in place than the previous months in which I was looking for teaching to get my rightly in place. THANK YOU!!!! BLESS YOU!!!
THIS EPISODE CLARIFIED SO MUCH FOR ME!!! After having been in the Baptist/Non-denominational world following all the famous authors and speakers in that realm, now I am thankfully confessional Lutheran but God is still working things out from my prior messed up theology (such as declaring decrees vs asking). This helped me so much!! Thank you Pastor!
Very good teaching Brother!! This is a very important topic!! I encounter people DAILY that do this!! When you try to tell them and/or correct, they are ignorant to it. I pray for their eyes and hearts to be open to the Truth that is only in Christ Jesus!!!
Thank you so much Sound teaching I live in Wales UK and just listening now. I was really perplexed whilst reading about the Canaanite women yesterday morning. I asked God to show me what He was saying in this piece of scripture and Voila. Thank you Jesus 🙌
Since you brought up Revelation, I would love to hear you do a series explaining it. Since you are knowledgeable in biblical language, I feel like you could explain some of the more difficult to understand parts 😊
Thank you for this timely teaching Chris! I have read books and seen a few sermons on prayer and this is by far the best teaching on prayer I have seen
