My Alto has the 12v DOHC turbo and has alternator by the firewall and ac is up front on the other side of the engine. Crank pulley looks like the AZ1 in the video.

Well there goes my theory. Lol I was sure the alternator was on the exhaust side. Guess not. I need to look harder.

In regards to the crank pulleys, some may be better for fitting a Trigger Wheel -- do most of yours mentioned have the same crank diameter / keying ?

To my knowledge they all have the same crank diameter. The crank seal is the same.... I could measure it I suppose. Skuzzle Motorsports makes a trigger wheel.

Yo so my f6A from my ja11v Jimny blew. I was wondering if I could buy forged Pistons for a f6A cappuccino and swap them ? I'm thinking not coz cappuccino f6A is 4 valve per cylinder :/. I'm trying to source an oversized piston as the walls are scored

Am I right in assuming your ja11v is a single cam turbo? If so then you're correct that Twincam pistons will not work. There are oversized pistons listed on Yahoo auction.

@@GarageKei every so often? Or currently? Sorry, I broke down 22 miles outside las Vegas on my way to California and now I'm taking apart the engine in a hotel parking lot lmao... So now I'm scurrying to find oversized since the cylinder walls are toast....

Have an alto works rsr with a tired SOHC turbo setup, considering an f6a DOHC or a k6a swap. trying to retain the 5 speed and AWD system... Will either bolt in? Will obviously have to relocate some things and run different engine management... any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated.

Will bolt right in without any trouble. If you can get your hands on a twin cam from an alto then just get the wiring harness and the ECU for that. Then it should just all fit. I'm guessing your car is a cr22s?

I I have a question you may be able to answer for me . Do you know if a k6a will bolt to a f6a transmission. I am in the us and looking at a carry that has a blowup f6a engine in it I also located a wrecked articat snow machine that has a k6a turbo engine in it . That gets me double the power and efi .

Yes the transmission bolt pattern is the same. F6a and k6a are interchangeable.

Any thoughts on the difference in power with SOHC turbo and DOHC turbo motors? It looks like they're factory rated for the same HP. I'm looking at importing an Alto Works and just wondering if it's worth the premium for the DOHC in the RS/X vs SOHC in the IE/S.

The Twincam will outperform the single cam. Parts for the Twincam are more readily available. Rs/x or rs/r all the way.

Turn that boost up sir! Swap injectors (295cc Toyota Starlet), make sure your fuel pump/filter is good and then let me know how it is because mine is still tucked in my garage 😭.

@@michaelgabrielgarcia1004 that’s the plan but I’m fucking broke. Current boost goal at the moment is a simple adjustable wastegate and tweak the boost from 7 PSI to 9 or 10 PSI

@@Detah_ Got me a manual boost controller (to fool the wastegate) and a boost gauge. Nothing fancy at all. I believe stock injectors can handle 12lbs (don't quote me, I'd have to double check)

Good day mr. Garage kei me ask a little questions of u. Im from phil. One of island of phil. Is cebu that island use sa kei for private and public services. And im one of that using japan kei. Me ask you sir what MM you use in valve clearance of your kei a standard 0.008 intake and 0.010mm for exhaust hope you answer my question about that. God bless always

thanks for the great video! I just got a truck with a single cam non turbo f6a. pretty sure I need a complete new motor. will any of the other motors work without too much trouble? or am I stuck with the earlier single cam non turbo hemi motor?

I love the n/a f6a they are soooo solid!!! Slow, but solid... I do not like the single cam turbo. That would bolt in but you'll need the correct matching engine harness (there's more than one)... The Twincam won't bolt in because it's too tall... I made it fit in my truck but it required an intake manifold, exhaust manifold and 1inch spacers to lower the whole assembly. If you Google Yokohama motors you should be able to order a new motor. If you just want parts then I have a whole single cam n/a motor here that I can part out. If you have any other questions, shoot.

@@GarageKei thanks so much, I was sweating bullets wondering if i was going to be able to find another motor. I have thought about rebuilding this one, but its probably going to need basically everything from lack of oil so much better to find a complete good motor.

thank you so much! i just picked up a De51v turbo f6a every. loving it so far. but i hear about peoples f6a's getting rod knock all the time which has me worried. i change the oil frequently and maintain it. do i have much worries? live in canada thanks

I've never heard of these engines getting rid knock. They normally blow from lack of fuel or no oil. Other than that they're bullet proof imo. Best to talk to the people who have rod knock and try and figure out what they are not telling you about what caused it.

@@GarageKei yeah they all couldnt figure out why. but im sure lack of oil. so i check mine weekly and keep fresh oil. been a great motor so far. turbo is leaking a bit through the housing so going to have to deal with that once i figure out what the hell turbo i have. cant find serial number anywhere. or rebuild mine once i find out what one it is

@@splicedsoul195 if you can't find the number it could be a rebuilt china one. A little googling should tell you what turbo should be in there. Have a look on Yahoo auction.

Sir, just to know if you have a video for vaccum hose connection to ac solenoid for efi f6a engine?

Impossible to know that. This video is about three different engines. All EFI f6a and they all have different AC solenoids and vacuum hose configuration... You need the service manual for your vehicle. There is one on the garage Kei Facebook group for the 52series carry truck and van. The Cappuccino manuals are on the cappuccino Facebook group. If those are not the ones you're looking for you'll have to try google.

Would swapping in a K6A engine onto a 1984 Alto Works RS/R be a good idea? I am not sure whether I could find a DOHC Turbo F6A to swap in because somebody down the line of ownership stupidly swapped in a SOHC carby F6A into it. Thanks!

@@GarageKei Would the stock gearbox ratios be fine with the newer engine? I don't want to grenade a 30+ year old transmission. Does the bellhousing/clutch interface just right?

As a suggestion, write up all your shoots and presentations as outlines first. Include info on set up and important order. In the margins, add any notes on important shots. Start there and the rest should follow along directly! Getting better each time, never achieving perfect is the norm- even million dollar movies have "production flaws". The outline and it's flow, will help you get the edit you were looking for- and much quicker.

Yea what you have described is filming going out to film and getting something done. This is what I need to do for videos like this. My approach is always get something done and film it. As there is no plan to getting that thing done the filming is a mess. I'll learn eventually.

@@GarageKei The first few times we do anything, it's a learning experience. I've never done a YT, but I have participated in constructing video lectures for petroleum engineers. I didn't know crap to start- aside from a dozen misconceptions from my "theater" college minor!

Get asked this a lot.... The answer is yes and no. First, which f6a??? K6a vs Twincam? K6a has more torque, has a timing chain instead of belt, is lighter, and iirc has better head cooling.. F6a is cast iron block and if built correctly is virtually indestructible but it can have cooling issues in the head. It's belt driven cams make it easier to work on imo but that's just me... I don't think one is better than the other. Just different. I prefer f6a because I'm familiar with them and find them a lot easier to work on.

I'm not sure, I haven't checked the part numbers. if you'd like to do that and let me know, it's very easy to do. Just Google search megazip. Find the crank for the cappuccino and then compare the part number to other vehicles that have the f6a. shouldn't take very long. I'm on a road trip and I probably will have forgotten by the time I get back.

Sorry. Don't remember hp figures for the n/a. There are a lot of variations and that will determine the hp. it's all on Wikipedia. Weight? Again. Depend what's bolted to it...

@@GarageKei i can't find in wiki the weight of the engine alone, only curb weight of the whole vehicle. I just wonder if f6a can be used in an ultralight aircraft. Ideal power to weight ratio is 1hp:1.2kg. What do say sir?

@@bikeontrails1566 the pistons are different. 6v is 2 valves per cylinder. The 12v is 4v per cylinder. The pistons have indents for the valve clearance. I would guess if you used the wrong pistons there would be contact. If you swapped pistons too... Then maybe.... What car are we talking about?

The timing belt tensioner has a spring load inside the pulley or an external spring tensioner. ALWAYS. unless chain driven.
