Fantastic accomplishment however I had very much the same thoughts about lightning protection, ground system and matching questions as s56a below. Please post another video while operating, would like to hear this antenna in action hi. Felecitations et 73's - Guy
Well done F8FKI! Few Qs: 1. No need for red light at the top? 2. Metal ball at the top for the prevention of corona? 3. What king of ground system is planed? 4. What kind of matching? I tune single band EDZ with 0,11L of open wire. 73 de Mario, S56A, N1YU.
Hello Mario, yes I need light on top, Prévention of Corona no, all is Aluminium. Ground 120 Radials 1/4 wl + switching elevated radials, Matching LC.Best 73...F8FKI Manu
Thil you can see that in my Log,hi.....Antenna work very well....in the futur eventuelly modified in vertical array...but in 160m...the more Important is the RX..;-)
Amazing job....good team work.....but it the transmitting element just that bit on the top....looks to be around 20 to 30ft.....or is the whole tower the antenna?
Tiens un hibou français en FT8 sur 160m à près de 2h du mat' ..? Bienvenue au club ! Evidemment obligé d'aller voir sur www.qrz.com/db/f8fki : Belle installation et merci pour la vidéo de présentation.
it is very dangerous to lifted a tower like that if you do not have the right ranging gear for the job and the right people to its ok getting help from friends or radio guys but they really have to know what they are doing after all it cost a lot of money you need to do it ones and right the first time great antenna for top band but it look to me that the anchor points are to close for that tower the base plate for the tower that hinges i would have made it thicker wall did you use a Cable Tension Meter for the guyed wires great job all around any way every one and yes like some one said do not forget your light
He already did it right and at once! How do you know the wall thickness and the distances to the anker points? Lighting is only necessary and only if required by the authorities, usually above 100m of height.
What an enormous erection. Rigger required; must be experienced with steel erection... lol. At first I was wondering how you were going to get the red and white tower on top of the other one until I saw it was only the gin. Fffar out! even the gin is big. Thanks for posting this on here btw. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this.
Seems a shame: such a large tower without a beam on top. Nothing on top! Is this dedicated to one band only? Is it shunt fed against ground; I think it is not insulated from ground. WA5KM
