I was 7 years old when my parents bought me this game, i was grinding like a monster! I could not read or speak English because i am not a native English speaker. It took me weeks to complete the first area lol. It was very hard for me to watch his dad die and see the village all burned up. Damn those memories were unforgettable this game has a special place in my heart.
When I used to be small I was sooo scared to go to lych field graveyard and Necropolis I always used to get nightmare of jack and undeads but now when I installed fable anniversary I just wanna do the graveyard and necropolis quest again and again
Fable 1 is the best one out of the whole series, definitely one of the best role playing/ adventure games I’ve played too, they don’t make games like the used too always over the top on how they make them! Hopefully the new fable will be a master piece 🙌🏻
This game was my childhood, and playing it again this year has been very nostalgic. The atmosphere/vibe this game creates is so relaxing, not to mention addicting. imo not elder scrolls levels of immersion, but really close in terms of the soundtrack and visual aesthetics
i never played any of the fable games, the community seemed mixed on which of the 3 (that i remember at the time) games was the best. i did see a little of the early section of the first game. and it was quite compelling. might be worth a shot!
I remember the day this came out so well because I just started a new job and a friend of mine convinced me to call in sick and go to Toys R Us with him to buy Fable. I did it, played all day and night. Side note: I still work with that same company 17 years later and I still play Fable at least once year, its one of my all time favorite video games.
This was my first huge step into the rpg world when it first came out I was so hyped for this game! I fell in love with this game. Fable is my all time favorite video game series. I've played them especially this one alot and I don't regret it! I can't wait for fable 4 I hope it goes back to its roots even though it isn't lionhead anymore. Great video!!
I miss the old games made by Peter Molyneux and some of his older studios (Lionhead studios, bullfrog, etc.) they made some amazing games together under his guidance, with the likes of black and white, dungeon keeper, fable, populous etc. They were truly magical games.
this game is my top 10, even top 5, as a child this was just god tier game, with morrowind, I'm buying anniversary edition and I can't wait to dive into it again, great video thanks
I loved this game. I was a bit too young to really be into all the press around it, know about molymeme's lies etc so I just enjoyed it for what it was. Lot of nostalgia for this one!
Playing it now! By far such a great experience and gives me such cozy vibes from my kid days as a 26 year old man now lol makes me feel like I grown up with the game itself, and someone is narrating my life haha :D
Yea you definitely need to, fable 2 is decent, as u know fable 3 isn't up to snuff, but neither of them come remotely close to how great the original is. One of my favorite games of all time
personally I didn't like 2 or 3 that much but I loved the original! definitely has its own feel to it compared to the other two which kinda feel like cash grabs almost just because of how good the first one was. The only thing the other two had on this one were better graphics basically. Better gaming engine perhaps because they were made for the 360 while the original was on the original.
Dude if you still haven’t played fable 1 and your looking for a good game.. go pick up anniversary ASAP. You will become addicted, I wish I could go back to being like 7 years old watching my brother play the original game it was awesome
I love this game so much. Currently playing through again and something has struck me about the fable series in comparison to larger scale rpgs. The small scale regions, especially in the first game, allows everything you come across to feel intentional. Everything is full of character, crafted with purpose. Think of all the chests you find that are placed at the end of a path, where the path exists purely for the sake of you finding the chest. Every small thing like that then feels like an event. It's very comforting. This then translates over to the in-game context of Albion, there's always a hidden narrative to everything you come across. Nothing ever quite feels untouched and natural - there's always a hint of ancient ruin and magic.
Yeah I was so young now I’m 21. My brother that is 31 now used to play it and I would just watch him play all day. Then I ended up beat in g the game at least 10 times before my brother even beat the game twice haha good times I Remeber his friends were asking me what to do next in the storyline and I was only like 6 or 7
This was very enjoyable to watch and listen to, awesome review! You held great clarity and nailed your topics. I can definitely relate to the charming and nostalgic sentiments that you share in this video. Crazy to think it's nearly been 20 years, yet this game aged like fine wine!
I’ll never forget spending hundreds of hours on my Xbox in 2004. This game has me skipping so many days of school throughout my sophomore year. I was so enchanted by this game, and this is one of the few nostalgic games that still holds that enchantment for me. Fable Kotor 1&2 Jade empire Star Wars Battlefront 2 Halo 1&2 Those were the games that still hold such a special place in my heart
I too have recently had the urge to play this again, and I’m totally hooked. Played 2 and 3 back in the day on 360 and absolutely adored them. Definitely one of the best games created.
I remember a kid in primary school, maybe like grade 6 or something, talking about how one night of playing he just went around and married all these chicks and buying houses with them LMAO. He was like "I have 5 wives and they don't know about eachother". This was coming from someone who was like 9 years old hahahah.
I'm not sure what you mean by there's no skill cap and you can just pick up and play. There were boss fights and AI that were absurdly badly designed. The entire combat system is by holding down block until the AI is done animating their attack, then you can get an attack in if youre lucky. Most of the time you will get penalized/hurt just for turning around to hit someone behind you. It is not "a pick up and play kind of game" especially when you have to go and upgrade weapons/armor on your own whim to be able to face AI later. Its a terrible game imo.
I played this game almost 6 years later 2 years ago im 15 now and I played it when I was 8 or 9 the music and the narrator was so nostalgic i could’ve cried
thanks for the review. I never really played these games and was wondering if its worth giving a try now. You clearly have a lot of love for the game and that comes across wonderfully. I'll definitely be installing this tonight.
When I was a kid, I made my hero have a homosexual encounter and just, sat in silence at the fact that 1.) it was even possible 2.) I made a heterosexual have a homosexual encounter and I felt so odd that I reloaded the save and never thought about it again/looked back.
Bruh I really prefer a mediocore graphic games but created with love and passion like this.. rather than the one with hyper realistic 8K supported ray tracing garbage but dull, rushed, microtransaction behind a greedy publishers/developers.. or worse, mobile games
My only feasible option for playing this is on gamepass, but idk if the camera is broken in the rerelease or what, but it is janky as fuck and gives me motion sickness. Im a loser who has played thooooouuussannndsss of hours of video games across hundreds of games and it is the ONLY fucking one to do that. So unfortunately I do not get to experience greatness lol
Somehow I ended up playing Kingdoms of Amular today which I never really did before other than a few brief moments.. I remembered the comparison to this one which I never did play.. I do see some similarities.. I really like this style whatever its called
This was like my first single player RPG when I was a kid, and it was so fun when I first played this game. Holds a special place in my heart like when I played my first Elder Scrolls game Skyrim.
@Geo M definitely PC mate, you can download all kind of mods and just a better experience. You can also use console commands if you want to mess around and see random monsters/enemies duke it out lol.
i see the game's steam reviews commonly mentioned about bugs and glitches. is it game breaking enough in your playthrough? i'm still on the fence between buying the anniversary and lost chapter
As much as a PlayStation fanboy I am, I still dust off my old FableBox just to revisit this amazing series. And now I can justify upgrading to the Series X whenever the new game comes out!
This remains as one of my most loved games. How many times i finished? How many guides i had to print to learn every secret, every unique weapon? (Haha i was nothing but a foolish kid who even wasted special sheets to print meager guides found on internet). How much time i had to put to advance on the story even when not knowing english and not understanding a thing of what was written (not even the stats of the equipment)? And even then i managed somehow with great effort defeat every single obstacle, monster and boss. A true game that defined my childhood.
It’s crazy. This game is 18 years old now, and still is one of the best games today in many people’s minds. Has more content than some new triple A games and brings so much more fun than most of them nowadays.
I spent so many days of my life when I was a kid playing this game and then I discovered Skyrim when I was about 19 or 20 and got obsessed with that game
This is game is high on the list of my top 10 favorite games of all time. But the anniversary edition is a travesty, to anyone reading who never played it, if you want to play it find the original TLC version and enjoy a masterpiece.
I played this game when i was 13 finished it the first night loved every moment of it i thought i finished after beating jack the dragon. 5 years later went back to play it. and didnt know u could still continue it. from there... lovely kinda glad i saved it. kinda regret haha.
