At last! I started making a fabric book for a lady with dementia that includes lots of sewing related bits and bobs as she used to be a great seamstress. I made all the pages but have been stuck on how to actually out it together with a nice spine. You are my saviour. Thank you x
Oh, my, goodness!!! Not only is your tutorial easy to follow, (you have a very soothing voice!), but your work is just amazing!!! I plan to make a fabric book, but not real sure about the infrastructure, but I want it sturdy enough to support the weight of the pages with all the laces, etc. I am so glad that I found your videos... I sure hope there are more to check out! TY for sharing your wonderful talent!!
Hello Bonnie and welcome to my channel. I'm so happy that you enjoyed the tutorial and best of luck with your book, I'm sure it will be beautiful. Hugs, Lequetta
This is the best how to video on putting a fabric base book together . Easy for me to understand . Clean & Clear . I have seen a few of your videos and the quality of your work to good . Thank so much !
Thank you, thank you for this easy to follow tutorial, I have been searching for ages on how to make these beautiful lace/fabric journals and you have given me the inspiration to have a go, it is so very generous of you to share your talent and is so appreciated, now to learn how to embellish the pages. Merry Christmas Pamperdpetals
Great video. Do you glue everything else in such as doilies and laces or do you sew them. Sometimes I find that the hot glue shows and doesn't look very neat so when putting on a lace piece for the pages how would you sew that on. Thanks
Hi Kathy, I have actually done it both ways, the first few books I made I sewed everything in but then I started using hot glue and yes sometimes it does show and you will end up adding something on top to cover the glue spot. When adding laces to your page, if your lace does not have a straight edge then look for a place on the lace where you can make tiny hidden stitches to sew it to your base page. I hope I have answered your question. Try your best to use matching thread, that helps to not see your stitches. Have fun making your book. 💖
OMG my dear, your books are AWESOME & BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for sharing how to do this. I am new to this craft and I looooooooove it so much. I need to learn as much as possible and I learned a lot from you. Thank you, thank you!!!! Do you sell your beautiful albums somewhere? *HUGGGSSS*
Hey, it's Patricia -- good Lord, this project just gets more beautiful -- I came over to get some inspiration -- I'm doing one fabric page in the journal I'm working on, even though it was a quick peek -- just GORJEEOUS !!! Hope you are well !!
I just saw this video and I think you did a great job explaining everything. Thank you for this helpful tutorial and I'm glad I've become one of your subbies....❤
Love the tutorial! have been wanting to make a fabric book for eons. A question: Is there a reason that you use glue to put your pages and spine together? Could they be sewn? Or would it add more bulk? Just wondering............Thanks!
Judy Twitty Hi Judy, I think sewing all of the layers of pages together would be great if your machine can handle it. I was afraid my machine might not handle the thickness. :-). Good luck with your book and thanks for watching. Hugs, Lequetta
p.s. LOL. I meant to ask you, please, should I use glue to attach all the embellishments? Is the gorgeous book on your video 7”x7”? It looks a bit different. Tyvm for your help. I really appreciate it.
Hi there, I use glue most of the time to attach fabric, lace and embellishments and I like Fabric-Tac. Not sure if I was using it at the time of this video but its my preferred choice of glue now. Sometimes heavy jewelry items need to be sewn on if its possible. Yes you are correct the books shown are not 7x7. The cream one is 9x6 and the color one is 8x6. Thank you so much for your kind words and for watching. Good luck with your book and take care.
Hello Lovely, what an incredible gift you have! When making these do you always use fabric printed images? Wondering if real photos will work? Thank you!
Hello Ellen, thank you for your kind comments and for watching! I have never used real photos but I don't see why that would not work. I think if you back the photos with a card stock or light cardboard to give it some stability so it would not bend, I think it would work. Its a great idea. Take care, xo
Thank You so much for your very informative video.....I like your way of putting together a book/journal.... I have never been shown that way... Seems pretty easy to do......Thanks again 😊
I don't know what happened, but the beginning of my comment has disappeared...I was thanking you for demonstrating so well how to actually make the book pages and put together!!! Especially for people who do not have a sewing machine. I have subbed for your videos and anxious to see more of your them.
I have been looking for the right fabric book base for me. So far I have done two books with different bindings modified from RU-vid videos. I'm still looking. Yours will be the next one I try. Very nice tutorial. Thanks.
I totally understand and I hope this one works for you. A very dear friend of mine suggested that I make the chipboard spine wider so that there would be space between each page for embellishments. I have to give it some thought to see how that might work. Have fun making your book and thanks for watching.
Hi Janine, so glad you found it easy to follow and I just subscribed to you and wow what a talented lady you are! Excited to see your next fabric book! tfw Lequetta
What an interesting tutorial! Thank you so much. I'm making some fabric journals and I've been dithering about for ages not knowing how best to join all the pages. Now I know. Thanks again! Stay safe. 😷 Sue x
I am so glad I stumbled upon your channel! Thank you for the excellent tutorial. I can't wait to get started. Do you have a preference of natural or unbleached muslin over white? Does it really make a difference?
Hello I found this video I know it's four years old but I'm fixing to make fabric books for my granddaughters I just want to thank you for having this video for me tutorial how to actually kind of put it together so thank you I am now subscribed to you you and can't wait to see some more of your videos thank you for sharing Vicky Texas
Can you please describe how you use this thin muslin to print on, I see this being used rather than buying the packaged printer material. Confusing how this goes into printer. Thank you. Karen Amenson.
Hi Karen, I find the thinest muslin that I can and then I have freezer paper that I bought a long time ago at my local grocery. It has a shiny side and a dull side. The shiny side is the side to put against your fabric and iron it on using your hottest setting. When the two are fused together be sure and iron on both sides to get rid of any bubbles or air pockets, then trim them down to 8 1/5 by 11. I usually cut the fabric and paper a tiny bit larger and then trim after ironing to the perfect size. I have to feed my sheets in manually one at a time, it does not work if I put it in the paper tray where you normally put your printer paper. Hope that helps. 🌹

wonderful tutorial! how would you put the book together if u put gussets on each page...what holds them together..do u glue..sew down the middle? helpthank u
Hi Sharon, here is a link to Jeanette's channel ScrappinHappyxo and she has a very nice tutorial on how to make the book with gussets on each page. Hope that helps. Thank you ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-McG7HK1XF1Y.html
I am so glad that I found you wonderful video. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful technique. I never realized that a fabric book could be put together with hot glue. Your books are so amazing.
beadlady aes Hi, I think you could sew the pages to the spine as long as it's not too thick for your sewing machine to handle, also make sure you have enough edge so that you don't accidentally stitch into the chipboard spine. ;-). Good luck and I would love to see your book when finished! Thanks for watching. Lequetta
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I saw someone else's video and they referred your channel as well as the other channel you referred to. I can't remember who it was, because I have been watching so many videos and although I would like to tell you who it was, I can't remember. But I love the way you taught how to make this binding system and base for a fabric or lace book. I love it. Thank you for sharing this, I really appreciate it. And I will definitely go to the other youtube tutorial that shows the large gusset.
Hi Kateri, Thank you for your kind comment and also for watching. The other channel that I mentioned is ScrappinHappyXO and her name is Jeanette. This is a link to her tutorial.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-McG7HK1XF1Y.html&list=PLPeMdbtYQcLcZP5Ltla0Vmn7Q7zYLcd7E&index=59 Hope you enjoy making your book. Take care.... Thank you for sharing on how to do the middle part, it's very simple yet a lot of people who do crafting don't know how to do it, and I'm not saying for the wonderful tutorials on RU-vid, cause there's a lot of wonderful and creative women on it, I've just started crafting myself, I did a needle book, and the middle part I didn't know what to do about it, I learned what to do thanks to you, xxoo

Thank you for the video on this. You have a nice, simple way of explaining things, and I absolutely love the dark fabric book. And, omg, you are ambidextrous! Anyways, would like to see a videos of you creating the entire book. I know I would watch them for sure.
Hi Valerie, thank you for your kind comments and I had to laugh that you noticed I was using both hands, lol. I am left handed and can do a few things with either hand but writing is one I haven't mastered, sure wish I could! Maybe one day I will do a full book tutorial. tfw, hugs, lequetta
I LOVE this style of page assembly .. I am working on a lace book now and I do believe this is the way I will do the pages. Right now I am working on the cover. Thank you for sharing your time and your talent. God Bless.
