I forgot to add that any larger visible basting stitches in the center bowl piece can also be removed after completing the inner and outer bowl and before sewing them together or after everything is done - either way is fine. Cheers, Jean xo
More clarification, "taut' was the wrong word, I don't pull the fabric "tightly" around the cardstock, I simply wrap it and keep everything as smooth and flat as possible. I generallyallow for a 3/8" (or 9mm) seam allowance but sometimes I use a slightly smaller seam allowance (approx 5/16" or 7mm) when making the smaller bowls.
Argh, I kept saying "fabric" shape instead of cardstock PAPER shape! I now also use a glue stick and Pellon stabilizer. I am testing to find the perfect ration between bowls if using Pellon and will let you know when it's ready and send an update to everyone who bought the pattern which includes the GIANT bowl templates everyone loves! :)
